I think you're getting confused. Just because you don't like the subject matter it doesn't make the photography inherently bad.

That photo is awful. Super shallow depth of field that makes it painful to look at and the thing that dominates the photo is completely out of focus. I get what they were trying to do but it wasn't very interesting to start with.
