I got an e-mail flash today notifying me of the complete liquidation of all personal property and intangible assets of ZVUE Corporation to include, "Dorks, LLC" and eBaums World websites. This will take place on Friday, I think. Had anybody else heard about this? I didn't see anything on his website. Here's the link to the auction webcast : http://www.bidspotter.com/forms/event.php?event=8891

gently caress Eric. If you don't know yet, the kid got rich by selling ad space on his collection of other people's work, and would frequently strip watermarks from pictures and videos and replace them with his own. A few years ago he stole drawings from somethingawful, replaced the watermark, then put malicious code directed towards SA into his homepage.

I wonder if the domain can be bought, I would love it if Alt-F4 and Trapezoid would repost that old animation directly on ebaumsworld.com. Seems like a worthy end.

One of my friends worked for eBaums world, he had a party at his house once which I went to. He invited everyone from work including Eric himself. I would have met him if I had stayed longer, but I had to leave early. I don't know what I would have said to him if I met him, probably something like "Hi, I'm an SA goon so I guess I'm supposed to hate you, but you employ my friend so you're alright"

That auction's a bargain. Not only do you get the ebaumsworld.com domain which gets millions of hits a month, you also get ownership of all that content the company owns which brings people to the si... oh

He didn't get most of it: a lot of the $15 mil was in Zvue stock, a company who's primary business model was selling low quality, pre-loaded MP3 players at Wal-Mart. Eric Baum got fired from his own website by the Zvue people for not making traffic goals/revenue promises, and lost the property in the process. Good riddance, Ebaums. A drat shame that there's now a million other web properties trying to copy exactly what you did three or four years ago.

This makes sense, wasn't the company pretty much run by his father before he sold it? EDIT: According to this Zvue press release, he sold the site for $10 million in cash and $2.5 million in stock, with another $2.5 million if he met certain revenue targets. He made 15mill for that drat site? God drat! Well, if it makes anyone feel any better he'll be banging some hot piece of rear end and driving a sweet rear end car and have a nice loving home for the rest of his life. Also, if he invests even one third of that portion he'll be bale to live like that for the rest of his life. Banging hot rear end, driving nice cars, and living in a bitching house. All built on using/stealing other people's works and posting it onto a website... What Dumbass company would pay 15mill for that anyways? No wonder the financial meltdown happened. P.S. What kind of malicious code did he put into his site that would effect SA?

If I remember correctly, he had code on there that would redirect to SA, hence wasting SA's bandwidth. BUT.. in doing so it would transfer's people cookies for ebaum's world to SA. So the admins got the passwords and usernames of everyone on that site.
