Man vs Child posted:However, I have some tracks from mine and everyone's favourite Leonardus. This little dutch bastard knows french filter house and he knows it loving good. I consider him the current standard on what is french filter house and he is virtually unparalleled. Really? The other thread went crazy over his other release, and I don't really hear what everyone is so hyped up about. Its super tracky disco, similar to the onslaught of tracky disco house that came out in like 03-04. I think artists like His Majestry Andre at least have a little flavor to their disco, this just sounds so cookie cutter. I'm all for that usually, but this is so blah

Man vs Child posted:Well the only thing is is that I think your french house disco is also very good, so I can't pass judgement. Maybe virtually unparalleled is the wrong term. I don't mean to come off in a "I make disco I am the judge of all good things disco" type of manner, I think I've just heard a lot (I truly love disco and disco house) and it seems a little meh. Maybe I just don't have the attention span anymore for tracky disco :[ e: and thanks for the compliment

Ok here comes the disco house ultimate POST: Rhythm Masters - Oriental Cyber Phunk/Mutator (1999) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojbq5lXMxdQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wGvvjZGHrQ The Rhythm Masters always had the nastiest percussion, it was really hard and gritty - the compression was super tight, and the whole track gelled really well from a mix standpoint - on top of that, they were expert samplers that knew how to accompany a good sample with on-point percussion. Mutator had some crazy filter stuff going on it that you didn't really hear back in the day, but that track is slamming. Player - Give It To Me (Joey Beltram Remix), other JB3 tracks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC-ap3trMxk I always wondered how this would do with the electro kids - JB3's style combined techno with disco, and he did it really well. The Player remix is one of my all-time favorites, and why it wasn't in my Top 25 list I'm not sure. It's an excellent track. Other Joey Beltram stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOB5nXaM7OE (Joey Beltram - Super Magnetic) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpy5umrKS6I (Joey Beltram - In The Ultra Drive) Essential CZR tracks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6tw9lFcuf0 (The Funk Parlor - Warehouse Muzik) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1p-rmF-r-Y (CZR and Ito - Soiree) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFN3XQSxhCc (CZR and Ito - Bringin The Funk) <-- Essential Chicago House http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwQEvwu17cE (CZR - I Want You) CZR is one of my favorite disco producers ever - we're not talking groundbreaking stuff here, and the production isn't perfect - but it pretty much nails everything awesome about good filtered house. First Optional Deal - Stockholm 2 Paris (2004) This is tough to find, but a great late-disco track out of the Swedish Mafia (I hate them and that term >:o) but it's an awesome 303-disco fusion. Mischa Daniels - Ghetto Groove (2004) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3gRn44bsYI Mischa Daniels is the product of Olav Basoski, and as he was coming out, he dropped a couple of hot disco tracks that sounded influenced by Olav.. Patrick Alavi - Power (2005) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYs1mCu68y8 Alavi was very, very much influenced by the Daft Punk/traditional French House sound that escaped a lot of producers. He had a lot of missteps, but I think he got it right on this one. I'll let you guys sit on that for now, if you want more then let me know

aejix posted:Hey Melee Beats is it cool if I give my old housemate your Warehouse - No Funk track to play out later this year at an australian gig with Anoraak? For sure, I don't care at all - the Warehouse project is gaining some steam but still no releases yet. Lots of inquiries, though If you like Warehouse type stuff, I'm doing a live show on Friday that's basically all disco like Warehouse (and my other disco tracks) mashed together live for about an hour. I'm nervous about recording it from Ableton but I might take the chance.

trans fat posted:Melee Beats is your next album going to be more in the vein of your newest song and Laser Guided Bombs or is this song another fluke? You can be so good when you do house songs like the examples, but awful when you sing, not only because it sounds bad, but because you're lyrics are usually sub par. The new track owns, looking forward to hearing more of it! There's nothing like LGB really because that song was made around the sample. So far there are five songs done, all with a unique disco flavor. I'm going to continue that throughout, because what I have realized is that's what I love to make. So yes, expect about 13 songs like VII/Violet.
