Why was there a new thread created? Electro-pop and house/techno/synth are sufficiently differentiated to warrant seperate threads. We all know this is just going to turn into a house re-re-re-re-mix thread. As a fan of electro-pop, I'm really not interested in looking through page after page of MSTRKRFT and Chromeo mixes... The whole reason for the electro-pop thread was that its a genre that tends to get completely overlooked in threads such as these. But anyway, Rex the Dog - I Can See You Can You See Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5jH0MHZTDE The Tough Alliance - Neo Violence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55zoTCK6cEo Bloc Party - One More Chance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOm5z2KIDJg Midnight Juggernauts - 20,000 Leagues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCE2SUZAEE The Presets - This Boy's in Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO45oUdRqTs Cyril Sneer fucked around with this message at 07:19 on Dec 8, 2009 |

Swedish electro-pop! I dare you to listen to this and not feel immediately released from the stresses of your day... Danger - Octopus! posted:Went to see the Pet Shop Boys in Glasgow last night. I'm jealous. I'd love to see PSB live. One thing thats great about them, as you mentioned, is that their new stuff is quite good. This is in contrast to many other acts from that era who are still producing music that pretty much sucks now. (Duran Duran, A-Ha, Depeche Mode: I'm looking at all of you) On the other hand, I have seen New Order live. Temptation is probably one of my all-time favourite songs.

Uggh. This is so far from a remix it doesn't deserve the title. It IS a great song, in and of itself, but aside from that one charging laser sound, there's barely any resemblance to the original song. Original (which is fantastic): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cznha2YTTh0 Canadians in this thread might recognize this song from a current McDonald's ad: Bot'Ox - Blue Steel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMEUpF7mNb0 A great bit of synth chillout. It really could've represented a fresh sound, but no, it had to fall back to top-40 mediocrity.

I still say Sirkka is the best song in this thread Flashing Twelve posted:So what's coming in 2010? MGMT have a new album coming in Spring I absolutely loved their debut album, but I'm not getting my hopes up for this. I read somewhere they consider themselves a rock band, not an electro act, with Kids/Electric Feel/Time to Pretend being more or less flukes. Flashing Twelve posted:We've also seen a teaser for Midnight Juggernauts which sort of sucked. I thought their last album was pretty poo poo. This sounds good to me. Jelo is going to be playing at footwork at some point in April. Deadmau5 and Infected Mushroom were here recently. Both played at the guv. Dubfire played last weekend. Oh, I'm well aware of the Guvernment and Circa...been to both many times. I was more looking for places that play good current stuff, but aren't necessarily part of the big tours circuit. I've seen lots of posters for Footwork but I've never been.
