I believe I have
an appointment.
Mr. Goongala?
Today is launch day for The Crusader #1.

We're pushing the big green button on our Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing and distribution of the first issue of our new series, as well as art prints, t-shirts, and trading card sets. Yes, trading card sets. The 90's have returned to comics.

Michael and I are really excited about getting this book out to readers. It's everything we know and love about comics as only we can do it, and while Inkspot Comics has had some small success before with stories appearing in both Grayhaven Press and Fifth Dimension Comics anthologies and the release of our digital-only series The Assembly on DriveThruComics, this is our first series done our way under the Inkspot banner, and our first book to (hopefully) go to print.

Hope you dig it.

I CAN'T BE STOPPED OR REASONED WITH

Hey guys, thought I'd throw my own little project up here, since we just launched it today!

We're doing a big crazy deluxe-o 3D video game based on the graphic novel series I wrote and illustrated from 2004-2012 (official first season of it ended after the eighth novel, but it still continues online and in ashcan format presently). The series is called Bizenghast and you can read about it here on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizenghast. It's about ghosts and monsters and funny hats and quite a lot of things, but mostly monsters and people dying in awful ways, because I like that sort of thing. Also fashion, death and fashion. This year is the tenth anniversary of the series!

I'm working with Cosmic Forces, a cool group of very cool people from the film and animation industry who really want to make this game happen! Here are just a few projects they've worked on in the past as animators and artists...they've even won Oscars for this shiz, so you know they're good:

You can also see their demo reel here, encompassing work from most of the team, it's pretty amazing: http://www.cosmicforces.com/showreel/

Basically we've met with investors and they've done what most investors do, which is say, "Boy this looks super interesting, make the game so we can see how it looks and then we'll give you lots of money!" And we're like, "But we need the money to MAKE the game," and they're like, "Oh, well, can you make a little bit of the game? Maybe we can match funding if you crowdfund it." So here we are to earn money to make at least the first chapter (of 3) of the game, so that we can then get funding to do the rest of the chapters immediately after. :) We've already got some super-super demo footage of the character models and some template levels, although we plan to go balls-out insane with the actual level designs once funding is secured. It's going to be a very surreal style of game, with a lot of dark humor.

A shot of the main character, Dinah, in one of the template environments, plus a small model rotation:

We're also partnering up with lots of different companies, like Mixamo, to use the latest technology to make the cinematics and gameplay as killer as possible. Mo-cap suits, facial expression capture, everything to make this as awesome a game as possible, as well as fun to play for both fans and for people who may never have read the series at all. We really want to emphasize moving the player intuitively through the environments with cinematics that move fluidly in and out of organic gameplay, rather than the jerky starting and stopping of stereotypical cut-scenes. The game is heavy on exploration, puzzles and environment, little combat but lots of problem-solving and tons of bizarre, eerie levels and riddles. I think one of the marketing guys kept calling it Tim Burton's MYST, so take that how you will. :3

It would mean a lot to me if you would go check it out. We're REALLY super dedicated to making an insanely cool game that's high-quality and includes monsters, mayhem, a strong female protagonist, turkish radio, tinfoil tophats, murder most mysterious, vicious gossips, cakes and pies, snakes and spies, embarrassing underpants, bloody showdowns, baffling puzzles and very very cool environments.

Also if we get funded, we're going to film a month-long office prank war as part of our thank-you videos for backers.

Thanks very very much!!

Hey folks!

I just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a dark fantasy and horror fiction magazine called AGHAST.

Aghast is an illustrated bi-annual journal of horror and dark fantasy short fiction. It will be available online, as well as in print and digital formats (eBook $5, print $10). This Kickstarter will help us launch the journal and publish the first few issues.

We have some pretty great authors offering brand new stories, including Jonathan Maberry, Tim Waggoner, Jeff Strand and Gemma Files.

Aghast will feature original short fiction. Each issue will be between 30k and 50k words. Each short story will be accompanied by an illustration by artist George Cotronis.

I'd appreciate your support!

Hope its cool if it is in the family.

My wife wrote a book and is in the process of crowd funding to get hire a proper editor, cover design ect.

There are multiple donation levels, as well as a video about her book. Once she gets the first one going she has the outline for at least two additional books.

The book is about a pandemic and other shenanigans. From the kickstarter page:

What's this "Violet and the Vetrox" about?

Well here is the pitch:

Twenty five years ago, a particularly virulent strain of the influenza virus emerged. It would tear across the world, ravage the population, and viciously kill three and a half billion people. My parents survived. Five years after it ended, during society’s ascent back to normalcy, I was born. I’d grown up reading about the plague in books and hearing somber stories from the people surrounding me. In a few days, I would turn twenty one. A research assignment, to write a thesis paper about the plague, set fire to my curiosity and sparked me to delve deeper. The resulting inferno would engulf my entire life. The currency for knowledge, unbeknownst to me, would be exchanged in drops of blood. Far more than existed in my body.

I had often wondered what it would be like to survive a pandemic, watching as all of one’s family and friends died along the way. Would I be the type that fearlessly moved forward, thriving in the moments of chaos, or the one so overcome with anguish, that they gave up? I was confident that I’d be the bold and brave heroine who swiftly, without emotion, carried on. It was a question that I never thought I’d literally have to answer. Fate would cruelly propel me into responding. Neither of my predictions would come to fruition. As life often seemed to proclaim, the answer wasn’t simply black or white. It was red and blue and sometimes even yellow.

Hello!

Our game just hit Kickstarter, here's a little promo:

Prisonscape is an adventure/roleplaying game about the harsh and brutal life in prison, made for PC, Mac, and Linux.

The game was heavily inspired by two HBO classics, The Wire and Oz and the art style inspiration was pulled from SNES classics such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6.

What separates Prisonscape from other games of same genre is its gritty, uncompromising atmosphere - we're not attempting to sugarcoat the prison life and culture.

Prisonscape is currently in alpha and is scheduled to release in December of 2014.

I thought I may as well post this here since I'm trying to help drum up some support for this comic anthology I'm taking part in...

Then It Was Dark is a planned ghost story anthology with a lot of really talented artists and writers involved, and it centers around historical, first-hand, and second-hand accounts of ghosts/paranormal activity/weird stuff. I'm planning on doing one that was told to me as true by my mom. (I draw a webcomic called The Intrepid Girlbot, by the way. Hello.) Whether or not you believe in ghosts, you have to love a good ghost story, and I know the crew of people signed on to work on this book will do an excellent job of it if they're given the chance. Here's some preview art:

The project is asking for $15K in pledges, most of which is going to paying all the contributors for their work, with the rest going to pay for printing, shipping, etc., so it really does need all the support it can get. If the idea appeals to you, please check it out and consider pledging and telling other people you think might be into it!

Something a bit different here!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/78686043/the-tempest-by-tree-folk-theatre

I'm the executive producer of a theatre company and we're looking to raise money through kickstarter for our next play! Our theatre company is all about using masks, puppetry, physical theatre and music to tell a story, rather than just actors on a stage. What we do is very unique, creative and memorable and is going from strength to strength. Here's a few small samples of what we do (I'm the one in Pink...):

https://vimeo.com/93080877

The next show we're planning to put on is a version of Shakespeare's The Tempest, in-the-round. We're taking a massive leap forward here, going to a theatre 5 times the size as our previous one, but think it's the most logical next step for us if we're going to grow as a theatre company.

Since we're looking to raise £5,000, I thought it's worth posting on here as well as everywhere else! Even though some of you may not be in the UK, if you pledge, you will get a chance to see the play through a live recording of one of the shows (similar to how the National Theatre does it). We'll also send you any physical materials you get from pledging, such as photos, programmes, parts of the set etc.

Appreciate any help you guys can give, since as you all know with fundraising, every little bit helps!

Castle Blood's New Permanent Home

Castle Blood is a haunted house that's been around for over 20 years, and bills itself as Interactive Theater.
If you live near or around southwestern Pennsylvania, or if you're involved in the Haunted House industry, odds are you've heard of it.
Hell, we used to have a TV Show, though admittedly, that was before my time there.

I've been volunteering there for 5 years, and frankly, it's a blast.
If I had to describe it, I would compare it to the Munsters or the Addams Family. It's kinda campy, B-Horror movie, tongue in cheek fun.
Every trip through is different, because we play off of and respond to the different groups that we get.

We're moving into a new building, a 100+ year old funeral parlor. Problem is, the place has been empty for a long time, and it's pretty well trashed thanks to time and people breaking in to loot/generally gently caress things up. The place needs all new wiring, plumbing, floors, the works.
Which is where the Kickstarter comes in. Luckily, we have professionals who are willing to make sure the work gets done, but we still need the actual supplies.

This is a picture of Crow Haven, one of our regular scenes. The room itself used to be a small office space before we got hold of it. Every wall and about 80% of the decor is handmade by us.

Update: We raised just over $11k for the Castle renovation, and that is loving awesome.

There are some really cool projects in here. I hope you guys also enjoy mine. I'm about a week into my Indiegogo campaign (I know, it's the enemy, right?) for the first season of a web series idea I cooked up a few years ago: "Level Seven." It's a series about the seven deadly sins as gamers and the arcade they hang out at. Here's the link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/level-seven-the-web-series/x/313073

So basically I want to make the first season seven episodes of about 1 - 3 minutes each that introduces the characters and through them, the arcade. Each episode is going to have it's own feel and style but they'll have basically the same structure. We've shot two test pilots on a zero budget that you can see right here.

Wrath Test Pilot:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G_goAlozFo

Pride Test Pilot:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX6H96N1kgw

We're trying to raise $1000 to film this first season and we've got some really awesome perks and stretch goals that include bonus episodes and production on the second season. The reason I'm doing this on Indiegogo instead of Kickstarter is that this is my first time producing a web series and even if we don't meet the goal I still want to take whatever money we've raised and make something out of it.

So please take a look and feel free to let me know what you think of the project. Oh, and drop me a line if you live in the NYC area and you want to help out. We're specifically looking for a composer familiar with chiptunes and/or video game music.

Lord of Rigel Developer
Myself and a few others who worked on Diaspora, the freeware Battlestar Galactica sim (http://diaspora.hard-light.net/) have started work on a 4x space strategy game in the style of Master of Orion 2. Quite a few indie 4x games have been released or are in development, but none of them have really been "MOO2.5" which many people have been clamoring for.

Aim
Lord of Rigel is a 4x (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) in the fashion of classic games such as Master of Orion 2 and Civilization. Although there have been many recent efforts to re-invigorate the 4x genre, many of these games have intentionally or unintentionally emphasized certain gameplay aspects such as combat or the economy over providing a complete space-opera strategy game experience. Our goal is to provide a accessible, yet deep, turn based strategy game.
The game is being developed in the Panda3d engine. This project will be released in several stages. The first release, Lord of Rigel: Battle for Altair is a proof of concept tactical battle with two opposing fleets: Human (Republic of Sol) and Katraxi. This release will also prototype the early portion of the game's tech tree. This free release will coincide with the beginning of a crowdfunding campaign with the stated goal of releasing the next stage of development a full tactical game called Lord of Rigel: Tactics. The tactical game will include half of the fleets, the majority of combat technologies, ship customization options, and some of the basics for galaxy generation so players can select randomized systems to stage their battles in. The full tactical game will be included as skirmish mode in the final release.

Our final release, Lord of Rigel will then include the full strategic element of the game. Alpha and beta access will be made to backers. Additional features to the core content of the game, which is intended to reproduce the core gameplay of Master of Orion 2 will be set as stretch goals for the project and released as a free first expansion set for backers. Additional expansions will be released provided there is interest for new gameplay mechanics.
The road to the stars in Lord of Rigel is an easy one, but the difficulty in dominating the galaxy and gaining political control over the Galactic Council means it is not easy to win. This game is intended to be the epitome of easy to learn, but hard to master. Lord of Rigel is time consuming not due to micromanagement, but because a game should result in a "just one more turn" mentality.
Lord of Rigel, like its spiritual predecessor Master of Orion, is heavily based on scifi tropes played straight. As such, each species represents a major trope in science fiction. Technologies, sound effects, and artwork also should intentionally evoke other work. Like the series that game before, this game is set in a loose enough setting that players can imagine specific conflicts that occur during their games being moments in some of their favorite space opera franchises.

Game Overview
What are some of the core features of Lord of Rigel?
  • Turn based strategic and tactical combat
  • Randomly generated Galaxies with a wide range of customizable parameters
  • 12 Pre-set species with unique characteristics
  • Species customization
  • Major and minor species
  • Rich technology tree ranging from lasers to artificial planets and dyson spheres
  • Fully customizable space ships for waging war
  • Easy to grasp but deep economic system
  • Leaders, either mercenaries or from your empire, who are shaped by their successes and failures.
  • Diplomatic system that is simple, but has considerable depth
  • Several victory conditions including military, diplomatic, and research options.
  • Strategic resources that require unique strategies to acquire, hold, and exploit.
  • Developed for 1080p, but with 4k resolution support for “future-proofing.”

Concept Art:

Anyway, we're working on a proof of concept demo before crowdfunding.

We're also looking for any programmers or artists who might be interested in the project.

If anyone is, feel free to contact me at: adam(at)arbitrary-level.net

Death By The Blues
Oct 30, 2011
Hey Goon and Goonettes, I would like to talk to you about a 22 minute comedy T.V pilot entitled 'Mythfits'. If you would like to skip our little spiel and go straight to the our IndieGoGo campaign here is the page . If not here is a little rundown of what our T.V show is about, characters, ideas and influences, where the money will go, and directors statement.

What is Mythfits?

‘Mythfits’, was an idea that had its rough beginnings in our first year at film school. We originally made a TV pilot about three male cohorts and their day to day lives at school entitled ‘Welcome To The Party. However, it was terrible, so we retreated to our creative basement to reconstruct our idea from the floor up. Years of tinkering ensued before a night of wine and ephiphanizing in 2013 led to our ‘eureka’ moment where we finally settled on the concept for ‘Mythfits’.

Synopsis

Thousands of days ago a portal to another world opened, unleashing all the creatures of myth, fantasy, and folklore into our realm. The human race, perceiving these invading forces as a threat, pool together their wealth, manpower, and resources to combat these foreign invaders using a cyborg army. However, once the animatronic army descend on the battlefield to confront these mythological creatures, the fantasy based beings surrender and the portal closes, stranding these refugees and curious wanderers. Our pilot takes place 6 years after these events. Most of the Cyborgs have been voluntarily decommissioned, and the individuals from the other world utilize their unique skills to try to assimilate within human society. ‘Mythfits’ follows four individuals, two from the Human world and two from the Mythological realm who are having a fair bit of trouble fitting in.

Characters

Cymon

Cymon is one the few cyborgs who aspired to be something more than just a soldier, so he politely declined to be shut down. He now travels from audition to audition hoping to become the next great thespian actor. Although, there is a slight catch; he cannot express emotion.

Farrokhzad

Farrokhzad is a Genie from the fantasy world, wherein Genies were considered great philosophers and revered thinkers. The wishes they granted had to be formulated and cultivated over years, so it could be refined to its truest and purest essence. Sadly in our world, Farrokhzad’s wishes are hawked on websites like Craiglist and Kijiji for the most basic shallow reasons to help our consumerist, materialistic society. Because of this Farrokhzad has grown bitter, causing many of his wishes to go horribly awry. Now in debt and disillusioned with his gift, Farry is suffering a severe existentialist crisis that threatens to consume him entirely.

Tessa

Tessa is the only human regular of our show. Incredibly driven and career orientated she will stop at nothing to help advance her own life and career. However these Mythfits throw a cog into her plans, and she usually has to serve as the voice of reason when dragged into one of their insane and wacky Mythadventures.

Zach

Zach is the only Unicorn that has made it through the portal, which at first made him a minor celebrity but after squandering opportunity after opportunity he now relies heavily on Farrokhzad for financial and emotional support. Most of Zach’s issues stem from a deep rooted insecurity complex that he externalizes into an overtly masculine physique . He hates being associated with femininity and daintiness, so he works out for hours every day and he hits on everything with two legs (and occasionally four). Even though he tries to be overtly masculine in every regard, he has a deep dark secret that, if revealed, would jeopardize the macho persona he holds himself to.

Why would Goons like this?

I have been a member of this forum for years and I am no stranger to the brand of comedy that is showcased here. Ultimately, to discuss our T.V show we have to discuss what influences us in terms of Television and other forms of media. We want to homage the same kind of sci-fi/fantasy plots that Rick and Morty are known for or the high concept episodes of Community. We want the same dedication to plot, narrative development, and cohesive story as Arrested Development. Or the same kind of banter, and dysfunctional character relationships as Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Ultimately, we want to be a unique television show while drawing inspirations from other shows.

Why would you use the money for?

We know that film and television are a passionate media and that people will work for free to create something they truly love. My business partner and I are fine with this, but the same shouldn't be asked for our amazing cast and crew who have shown dedication and passion day after day. So, the primary bulk of what we raise will be going towards paying our wonderful cast and crew. Beyond this we would like to put some towards transport, marketing, and festival submissions.

Directors Statement

Apologizes, this is ripped of our IndieGoGo campaign, as much of the stuff on this page, but I believe the Director did a bang up job describing what we are looking to do.

Our ideas have always and will continue to be conundrum-causing. We don’t think in simple terms, and we don’t come up with basic ideas. Too many years of being screen-junkies during the blockbuster and Saturday morning cartoon era have ruined that possibility for good. That said, we don’t have buttloads of money. But we don’t think that should hold anybody back from conceiving outlandish and un-ordinary notions and dreaming of otherworldly scenarios to put on film. ‘Mythfits’ is a show that aspires to capture that reckless and pretension-free spirit of adventure within all of us, the kid that would wake up early to watch cartoons, who would run around in the backyard pretending to be all sorts of fantastical things. That kid didn’t need millions of dollars and top of the line CGI to feel immersed, and we believe that if our show can’t replicate that sensation, we’re doing it wrong. We aren’t millionaires, or CGI-prodigies, or bearded bacon-eating frat boys. At the end of the day, we’re still just those kids. Our sticks and rocks and trees have turned into cameras and dollies and boom mics. But our goal in life has remained more or less the same: to get out there and play.

So with all that said, here is our campaign page. Please have a glance around and if you really are smitten with our idea or zeal, please pass around the link and contribute anyway you can. Have a great day!

Im right and you're an ass.
Hi Goons,

Myself and the rest of the Metalhedz crew would like to let you know that our Web-comedy series, about the lives and loves of a group of alternative music fans, is coming back with a second season.

We've had a huge amount of support from Goons over the last 3 years getting the project off the ground, with advice, suggestions and sharing around, and after getting over 15,000 views on the show we're prepping for an even bigger, funnier and better second season. We'll be using more locations, featuring more characters, and having longer, more in-depth episodes. So we're hoping that we'll be able to convince you to dig a buck or two out to help us make the show even better in Season 2.

Here's the link, if you want to jump straight to the Indiegogo page & donate! - https://www.metalhedzseasontwo.com

What is Metalhedz?
Metalhedz is an offbeat raunchy comedy, in the style of The Inbetweeners, or Coupling, centering around a few rock-loving flatmates, their friends and potential love interests.
Our aim was to make a show that gives an insight into the lives of the alternative scene, without it turning into a mockery of geeky types or alternative music fans, or feeling like it excludes people who aren't into those scenes.

You can catch up on the full season 1 here: Metalhedz Season 1

Returning Characters

Ginge

Ginge (played by Simon Fox), has come pretty far from the womanizing manslut we first met in Season 1. He's managed to finally convince the woman of his dreams, to overlook his sordid past and come out on a date or two with him. This season we get to see between the cracks in his armour and see why Ginge has such a hard time commiting to one woman. He'll have to prove that he can stick the course, and not let the fear and hurt from his past, drive him back into his old ways.

Beki

Beki (played this season by Emma Burgess), is still the tough, sassy, carefree, go-getter she was before. But now that her and Tails have become an item, she's having to deal with the reality that two people who get on as friends don't always work as lovers, and it's a tough road to re-assemble a friendship into a completely different sort of relationship. She's got to deal with the stresses of her own life, along with the temptations from other places.

Tails

Tails (played by Felicity Allen), seems to have gotten it all. The shy, geeky lass finally overcame her fears to make that move on her flatmate Beki, and life should be great. Trouble is, it's one thing to take a leap into the dark, and Tails' own insecurites are beginning to rear their head. Can she get over her own worries enough to keep things good, and how does someone unused to relationships deal with getting what they wanted for so long?

Chloe

Chloe (played by Jamie Melrose), is the cheeky, quick-witted goth who finally let herself open up to the idea of being wooed by Ginge. Chloe plays by her own terms, and in this case, that means taking control of the relationship. She's been hurt before, and that means she's taking things slowly, VERY slowly, but will her worries about Ginge and reticence about going further end up driving away a man she's growing to care a lot about?

Skull

Skull (played by Graeme Strachan), is the same foul-mouthed, sleezy, skeezy and obnoxious rear end he's always been. This season, he might have to open his eyes to the fact that the way he sees the world, and his friends, might not be quite how things really are.

New Characters

As with any growing series, we're expanding, and that includes our character base.

Ry

Ry (played by Iain McClung), is Chloe's best friend. He's a bit of a arrogant elitist geek, who looks down his nose at people who don't know their Red Kryptonite from their Soyulent Green. He cares a lot for Chloe, and doesn't entirely like the idea of her hooking up with a player like Ginge. Despite his occasional arrogance he's gregarious and well liked, getting on well with the group, but whose interests does he really have at heart?

Nomi

Nomi aka "Bones" (played by Nicolette McKeown), is a smart and feisty scene kid, who doesn't conform to societies old fashioned views on sex or gender expectations. Nomi is both friends with Ry, and also has some old and unexpected ties to some members of the group, which could threaten to toss more than one spanner into the works.

What is the money being spent on?

At this point, we're only looking for a small amount, as this is an unpaid project. Every penny will be going to cover what you see onscreen.
All of the money we crowdfund will go to cover expenses of filming:

Travel expenses (petrol etc)
Catering costs for cast, crew & extras
Equipment costs & upkeep items(batteries, bulbs)
Make-up Costs
Props, costuming & set dressing
Marketing costs (flyers, advertising online etc)
Web Festivals/Competitions

Why Should Goons Like This?

This is a show pretty much custom made for Goons, it's got some very dark comedy in it, lots of subtle geeky references, but at no point do we take the Big Bang Theory route of playing up to popular stereotypes for cheap laughs at our characters' expense.
I posted the very first pilot for Metalhedz here a few years back, and off the basis of the criticism and suggestions from fellow Goons, we re-wrote, re-cast, and upped our game from what was a cheap-looking bawdy comedy, to something we feel very proud of. So it makes perfect sense that after coming here for some sound advice, we'd also look to those same people for support in the show they've had a hand in helping craft.

Naturally there are a bunch of perks on the crowdfunding page, as well!

As we're a small production, who paid for the entire first series out of our pockets, we want to make the second series feel bigger and better than we could on the first. With a little help that's something we can definitely achieve.
We aren't Hollywood A-listers asking for cash to fund a vanity project we could easily pay for or find a studio to fund. We're just normal schmoes, who want to get somewhere in the industry and have a show we love making and want to do the best with it that we can. Because of this, we fully appreciate any help we can get, so even if people feel like donating only a quid or two, we'll gladly and happily accept it.

Anyone interested, please check out the crowdfunder page - https://www.metalhedzseasontwo.com

Thanks guys!

It's just a game we play... in the dark...
Hi everyone, glad to have found this thread, and many thanks to Humbolt Squid for pointing me in the right direction.

So, I've been writing, on and off, for about twenty years now. Short stories, poetry, lyrics, things like that. About ten years ago I started working on a long form novel combining all of these elements, and they eventually turned into a ~95,000 word manuscript titled "One Chance: The Legend of Valerian's Garden." It's in what I consider its final draft stage, which means I've stopped tinkering with it and am forcing myself to leave it be until it's going to be published.

Traditional publishing has not worked out well for me with this book, so I'm taking the self - publishing route, however money is tight and I've got an open kickstarter to try and get things moving.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1020310203/one-chance-for-one-chance

From the Kickstarter page:

quote:

Valerian's Garden is the embodiment of what I would consider my ideal musical group. They are a quintet of highly creative, highly talented individuals who each brought something different to the genesis of their music; they earned their fame through relentless touring and hard work; they are appreciative of and accessible to their fans.

In a perfect world, they would exist. They put out their own records and have never had to compromise their vision for any type of marketing vision of what they "should" say and do to be more acceptable to the mainstream.

The story picks up at the end of their most recent tour. Their third album was, in fact, universally accepted by the mainstream and the group, without any kind of corporate - backed muscle, somehow now has to deal with the fallout, both good and bad, of having a number one album and number one single. It is now, on the last night of the tour, that the lead singer, Angel, is being interviewed by a mainstream magazine and over the course of the evening, will recount the trials and tribulations that brought them to this point.

I've decided to follow the example that Valerian's Garden has laid down, and I'm going to put this book out myself. To that end, I need your help to raise the funds! I realize that eBooks are the wave of the future but there's something about holding a physical book in your hand that appeals to me, and I want to be able to provide a physical book to those who would be interested in supporting me.

I'm four days into the fundraising and I'm just under 1/3 of the way to my goal, hopefully I'll make it with room to spare. Any extra money that comes in above what I need is going to go back into the project; getting a better website set up, cover art, T-shirt designs, etc.

Attached to the Kickstarter page is a website I created solely for the fundraising, it currently contains samples from the book itself and (should the fundraising be successful) updates on the progress of the book coming out.

Anyways, please check it out if you have the time, and please contribute if you think it's worthwhile. Any questions can be directed here or via PMs. Thanks for your attention.

:greatgift:Help feed the homeless, poor, elderly, and local police and fire departments this Thanksgiving!:greatgift:

Hey folks, I couldn't find anything that prohibited donations instead of product based Kickstarters but this seemed like the place, Something Awful has a pretty incredible reputation for helping people in need (despite Paypal messing everything up).

For years now, my brother and his wife have been part of a small group of volunteers who, every thanksgiving, serve over 1,000 free thanksgiving dinners to the community surrounding Olmsted Falls, Ohio. Each year they serve more and more people and try to expand their network to help as many as they can. Not only the homeless, but also deliveries to less fortunate families, the elderly, as well as the local police and fire departments. This year, the task of funding and organizing the whole operation was handed down to them by a man who ran this event for the last 22 years. My brother and sister-in-law had their first child (my niece!) in December so funds are even tighter this year compared to last.

There's no cost overhead so every cent donated goes towards feeding the less fortunate. Everything is handmade and run entirely by volunteers.

I've been with an incredible small team of people who cook and serve a Thanksgiving meal, prepared with love, for those who otherwise wouldn't get to eat fresh food. This year, Niki and I are in charge of continuing this tradition. In the past years we've seen the number of those in need increase. If you have it in your spirit, your heart, and your wallet to donate, I hope you will. This isn't a giant organization, it isn't a place where a percentage of your money goes to obscure overhead, it won't line pockets. It'll go to purchasing raw items like the potatoes we peel and mash by hand. It'll go to buying the flour and the butter we use to make a roux, which we use as the base of our homemade gravy. Your money will help us to put a fresh homemade traditional Thanksgiving dinner into the stomachs of those most in need. Thank you, in advance for anything you can give, and for sharing this link with others so they may have the opportunity to give.

Hay Goons,
I am here today to talk about my project, A ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ style of book called “The Castle of Blackwood Moors”.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2103133470/you-cross-the-moor-to-the-abandoned-castle

What the heck is a Choose Your Own Adventure Book?
For those who are not familiar with this style of book, you create a character and play through the story like a game where you get to make choices that dictate where the story goes (fighting monsters, gaining treasures all while uncovering what is around the next turn). The story is not linear and there are no Chapters per se. Instead there are numbered sections or passages and as you read through them, you will be assigned choices.
The example below is a (unedited) sample of my book. It shows you section 606 and you can choose to go to sections 702, 510 or 601 depending on your choice.

606
Being extra careful as you climb down the uneven steps, you begin to feel a slight breeze brushing against your face and soon you understand why. The stone staircase you are on enters into a large natural cavern. Below, you can see your light reflecting on some kind of large pool or lake, taking care not to lean too far over the sides of the stairs for there is nothing to hold onto on either side. The only other thing your light is touching besides the stairs is the uneven natural cavern ceiling. You continue your careful descent and soon you become aware of the fact these stairs come down almost in the middle of this underground lake for you do not see any shoreline at all, just inky black water in all directions.
Occasionally, a stark white fish can be seen swimming through the water and you audibly gasp when you see what monstrosities they are. Not because of size, the longest you have seen isn’t even the length of your forearm, but their appearance! Some of the fish have up to six eyes in various locations all over their bodies, others have no eyes at all, while the most horrific have the eyes of human beings which look up out of the water at you and you cannot help but think they are looking at your with a sort of sadness or even envy. A few you have seen even have human or animal like arms or legs jutting out of their bodies at obscene angles. Yet others still have such oddly located fins that when they move through the water you could hardly call it swimming, it is more like they are jerking in pain and with their mouths open it gives the appearance they are constantly screaming in pain, though no sound can be heard from their underwater domain.
As you are standing on the lowest step before entering the water, you notice something. Most of the dripping water sounds are to your right, while hardly any come from your left.
Taking note of this, you decide you must move on.
Do you:
Jump in the water and swim to the left? Turn to 702.
Jump in the water and swim to the right? Turn to 510.
Decide you had enough of this place and go back upstairs to the main prison chamber? Turn to 601.

How big is the book?
The editor is currently going through the book and it is at 94,000 words (I have been working on it for over a year) but with a few changes they are suggesting I am guessing the finished project will be closer to 98,000 words.. In addition, the current format is 8.5x11 and it is 216 pages. This is without editing or art. Once the pages of the book become 6.5x9 and the art is added, the book will most likely reach about 300 pages. That will be a lot of gameplay for you money!

All this is well and good, but what is the book about?
In the City States of Middenlund, lies the small hamlet of Argax. A very nondescript place that most people would have forgotten about completely if not for one thing; it is the closest pocket of civilization to a castle of a bygone age. Now lost deep within the tangle of the Blackwood Moors, adventurers come from far and wide to delve into its secrets. None have returned. Growing up in this town, you recently trounced some local bullies and with more than a little false bravado, the idea gets stuck in your head that you will able to defeat the castle when so many others have been engulfed by it. When the castle is finally reached however, you discover that it is already occupied, but not in the way that you thought...

Sounds Creepy! But what about art?
I found myself a fantastic artist, really good at creating drawings that fit the ‘genre’ of the book.
Here are a few of the rough sketches he has submitted.

So why do I need money?
The book is done (and I already have ideas what to do for the sequel). But a book like this needs editing, art and page layout and for a project like this, those three things will help make or break it. So here I am asking for your help to help reawaken gamebooks for a new generation. Hopefully, you are excited as I am about this project, and will click on the link above and check it out!

Thanks for your time!

You don't have to love me, but you will respect me.
Hey all! So this isn't my kickstarter but I did help out with the trailer and will be doing some VO work for it. I really like this game and I'd love more people to see it, so I thought I would post it here.

This is a game called Time Glitch Jammers, which is a pixel-art platformer with fun gameplay, a twisty story and a great sense of humor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0fiFkfYvrY

Download a DEMO HERE!

The game follows the story of Rob and Francis (a dinosaur), the two employees of an indie game studio, who get transported through time by their Time Glitcher. They travel into the future, where the world has been destroyed and all that remains are chickens. And mutated chicken monsters...

The gameplay is simple at first but gets increasingly more complicated. You play as Francis and have to defend Rob while he tries to program the "Best Game Ever".

Eat the chickens, gather energy and then lay eggs full of nanobots! (obviously) These nanobots can be used to build defenses or upgrade your dinosaur into a cool cyborg chicken-eating machine.

This is really a fun game and has a lot of cool hidden easter eggs, from playable mini-games to detailed backstory and hidden characters. So take a look and please spread the word, I'd love to see this game reach a lot of people, I think they will love it!

I know now why you Cuddle. But it's something I can never do.
Hi everyone, I know the first thing most people will say about my kick starter, Why would anyone want to see another goober streaming live video games. the reason is that by getting a live stream going of nightly gaming I would beable to easily support trying to grow the FGC in my area by holding semi-regularly streamed Fight nights at my apartment, With hopefully growing number of people and games in the Central jersey area. the goal for the kickstarter is low, because as i wrote out in the description It's just to fund putting together all the gear to start streaming.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2080917698/fuzzy-guard-live-stream

I also plan to build a name and video group around the name Fuzzy Guard Productions.

if you know anyone around the area that would be interested in this kind of project or trying to get involved please pass them on through the kickstarter to my facebook.

I'm also looking for any advice that i could recieve on making future projects more successful or appealing, i know having a project video would be a good start, but i have no clue what to do for that.

Hi. I'm not Gerald Abraham. Gerald Abraham is a guy I play Virtua Fighter with and sometimes share Korean BBQ with. He's a good guy and he's not in the best of situations in Hollywood right now. He currently runs a visual effects company (Industry VFX) but told me last night that he's likely going to quit the industry altogether. The main reason is that Hollywood, like any other major industry, entertainment or otherwise, is concerned about those juicy tax incentives to open up subsidiaries in places like Vancouver. However, because most of the major talent is located in the greater LA area, what ends up happening is a studio will open up a satellite production facility and then staff it with people from LA since usually there's not enough people with the experience that a major studio is looking for in whatever city/country they move their work to.

Gerald's pretty much rooted in LA. In fact, if any of you are Street Fighter fans, you may recognize him from many previous EVOs supporting Street Fighter and competing in it (as well as Virtua Fighter) under the nickname LA Akira. He has no real desire to chase his job all over the world and I don't think many people would feel much different if they were in that situation.

So the project? Well, in short, it's a short CGI film. You can read all about it at the Kickstarter page:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/826390253/the-message-0

Basically, the plan is to fund working on the short, pimp it out when it's done and hopefully get investors and distributors interested in funding a full length feature out of it, essentially transforming his fx studio into a film studio. That's the short of it, anyway. I don't think he talks about it in the kickstarter page much, but when I was chatting with him about costs, he talked about cost per shot for the kind of composite work required to make the flick look polished is about 15 grand per shot and the short consists of 120 shots, though he said he was getting a 'buddy deal' of closer to 5 grand per shot. Because of the aforementioned way things work in Hollywood, those still hanging around still need to get paid for their work because personal projects don't support you until at the back end...

Anyway, I hope this interests people. If nothing else, Gerald said just getting the word out about it is good enough for him.

Again, I'm not Gerald, but he's a friend of mine, so here I am. If anyone has any poo poo to say, though, please direct it at me because, after all, it's not him posting the kickstarter here, it's me.

Here's a screen of a final composite to grab the attention of TL:DR peeps.

Rolled a 1 on the random encounter table, didn't you?
I've launched a Kickstarter for Boiling Point, an adventure for my superhero Fate RPG, Base Raiders.

Boiling Point is essentially an investigation scenario and dungeon crawl in a superhero setting. Find the base and then explore it, avoiding traps, monsters, and other dangers.

If you're new to Base Raiders, you can back at the NEWCOMER PDF level for $25 and receive every Base Raiders PDF. If you want to hear how Boiling Point works out in practice, you can listen to an actual play podcast of the scenario: http://actualplay.roleplayingpublicradio.com/2014/09/systems/fate/base-raiders-fate/base-raiders-boiling-point-part-1/

You can learn more about Base Raiders here: http://baseraiders.com/about

We also have previews of material from within the scenario on the Base Raiders website. http://www.baseraiders.com/tag/boiling-point/

I run a small publishing company, Ghostwoods Books, dedicated to ethical business practice. We're fundraising to help next year's list of books -- better advances to the authors, cash for advertising, etc. We're also assembling a genre anthology, Haunted Futures, with stories already agreed with Richard Kadrey, Seanan McGuire/Mire Grant, Warren Ellis, Chuck Wendig, and a bunch of others. We can't afford to make Haunted Futures happen if the KS doesn't fund though.

(Working cover and title)

We're into the last 18 hours of the Kickstarter. We're over 80% of the way there...

If anyone feels like helping, we'd be very grateful indeed.

Hey there, goons!

I'm kickstarting a game called Lovely Little Thieves, now a year in the making with only one more year of production left to go, and I could sure use your help!

We have a free demo available for download on our project page here that you can play to get a good feel of what the game will be like. (It's about 3 hours long, so you're getting a pretty big bulk of content demo-wise.) Lovely Little Thieves is a visual novel style game, (think a humbler version of Telltale Games' Walking Dead/Fables releases or a much glossier version of those old Choose Your Own Adventure books from the '80s.) You play as the familiar "wallflower virgin girl" in a classic 80s slasher movie scenario, trapped in a haunted house where your choices and values determine which of your friends live or die, or even if you survive yourself.

Check out the demo and if you like the story (and/or the art!) and want to support our team's first big game, we'd be super-grateful! Thanks a million!

It looks lovely. I've downloaded the demo, and will have a crack at it later.

I'm just coming off the back of a successful KS, so I thought I'd weigh in with a suggestion -- put up a single super-high-price reward. You never know. I'm in publishing, and my top tier was to help tutor someone in their writing to get a novel ready for publication. For your project, an analogue might be $2k - $2.5k to provide guidance, advice and hand-holding to another would-be creator through the VN creation process. Really, it's mainly about making allowances for a major boost, just in case.

Anyway, good luck!

Demo completed; project backed :) I enjoyed it, and am mildly annoyed that I've got to wait a year for the rest *grin*. It's got an interesting vibe, and there's plenty of hooks for curiosity. The art is great, you seem to have Renpy behaving itself, and the characters gel nicely. I love the fact that each one has their own weird little sigil, too!

I write books rather than games, so take this with a dash of salt, but my one concern about the demo is the amnesia at the start. It's a common enough trope nowadays that there's a fair amount of hostility towards amnesia-mediated plot starts. I understand both the in-game and writerly justifications for it, but I think both your writing and the artwork are strong enough to let the player know everything necessary without explanation, and toning it down could give space to make Dawn a little more enigmatic, maybe. Anyway, your mileage may vary :)

Good luck (but hey, something like 90% of KSes that hit the 50% mark get funded!)

Glad you enjoyed it! And believe you me, I haaaaaaaated having to write that amnesia thing in there and hated even more that it had to be the first event in the story, but with the way the mystery is constructed and the ultimate reveal, unfortunately, it had to be done that way. The fact that Dawn doesn't know who she is also matters because the player is reconstructing that for her, and the player doesn't know either. So the player's attempts to rebuild her personality may result in wildly different outcomes when the truth comes out near the end. :)

We're looking to get a Storyhive grant to film a pilot for our web series Swagger. Swagger is based on a character that comes from a short film we made a couple years back called Diamond Planet https://vimeo.com/46063611

The Pitch

On the run from shady Hollywood dealings sparked by a disastrous film release, self-obsessed producer Ollie Swagger retreats to his Canadian hometown and takes a job at the local film society. He is at odds with his delusional ambitions and the daily stress of having a real job, with which he has zero experience. A botched members-only screening, loan sharks on the hunt, and a man who claims to have invented dijon mustard are all but some of the trials Ollie Swagger must face in his quest for glory.

The character is lots of fun to play with and we would love to do more. If you like what we've got, please throw us some votes. And while you're there, there are some other rad projects worth checking out.

Thanks goons!

IT DOES NOT FIX
I hope it's okay to list Patreon projects here too, the only thread I could find specifically for those was in Traditional Games.

I'm working on a self-published book of Arachnid Art Tutorials! I've seen countless animal anatomy tutorials on cats, dogs, horses, birds, and even mythological creatures, but never have I seen a how-do-draw for arthropods of any sort. I felt this was a glaring oversight, and decided to make my own art tutorials starting with spiders and their other arachnid pals. After all, they're my favorite animals, and really deserve some accurate representation.

The art tutorials will cover all manner of arachnids, including spiders, scorpions, opiliones, solifuges, vinegaroons, amblypygids, mites, and pseudoscorpions. I plan on each section being educational not only in general anatomy, but also in other biological aspects including busting arachnophobic myths (for example, daddy longlegs are not "the most venomous spider", and - depending on which species the common name refers to - aren't even spiders at all!)

Overall, I think it'd be a neat and informative book not only for animal & creature artists, but also people who are interested in learning more about arachnids in general. They're extraordinarily fascinating animals, and I'd really like to spread the love for them as much as possible.

I decided to bring this project to Patreon because hopefully the monthly format will allow me to make a bit of money while I work on the actual content. If I just worked on it in between commissioned art projects as I've been doing, it'd take way longer to complete. All patrons get to see writing and art WIPs as I'm working on stuff, and there are a couple of other perks for those who choose to donate a bit more including credits in the final book, PDF copies of the book, digital pet portraits, and physical art cards.

Greetings to all. Sorry this is somewhat late as there's only five days left but I had no idea about this little sharing aspect of our community so here it is.

A good friend of mind is working on his second short film, his first a western short film was nominated for a couple of awards and now he's working on something a bit more ambitious...but why take my word for it.

A thought-provoking science fiction short film that examines a future where social media dominates every moment of our lives.

hashtag n. (on social media web sites and applications) a word or phrase preceded by a hash and used to identify messages relating to a specific topic; (also) the hash symbol itself, when used in this way.

On August 25, 2007, a new word was born into our collective awareness. The “hashtag” was invented to manage the growing torrents of social media information into conversations that would span the globe. Usage grew, social media exploded, and a new form of notoriety was created—the social media superstar. Connected, adored, instantly validated, what’s next for a celebrity when culture is nothing but clicks?

ABOUT THE FILM
Hashtag is a science fiction short — a sleek, smart, and sexy view of a world where social media dominates every moment of our lives. Hashtag follows “X”, the ultimate social media maven, a charismatic woman attracting the attention of tens of millions of online followers. "X" has attained everything she's ever wanted. She's #famous, she's #watched, and one unpopular move could mean the #end.

Hashtag is directed and co-written by Ben Alpi (Cowboy Creed, Silver Lining) who was inspired by a TED talk to write a story about our culture’s obsession with speed. Ben approached veteran sci-fi writer, Kevin Rubio (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ben 10, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, TROOPS), to co-write the script and the present incarnation of the script was born. Hashtag is an original, imaginative and thought-provoking tale in the wicked tradition of The Twilight Zone. Through the medium of classic science fiction storytelling, our writers weave a disturbing story of our all-too-possible future as a social-media society obsessed with virtual information and celebrity.

Starring as “X” is Gigi Edgley. A superior and nuanced actress, Gigi is well known for her role as “Chiana” in Syfy Channel’s internationally acclaimed sci-fi series Farscape, and more recently as the host of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge. She has also had a leading role in the Australian series, Rescue Special Ops and appeared in USA network TV miniseries, The Starter Wife. Well-versed in alternate realities, Gigi is skilled at creating amazing connections between our present selves and the “other” of speculative fiction.

THUNDERDOME
LOSER
My sister and I are trying to follow our dreams of starting a crafts business online. It's a little ambitious, but we hope that it makes something of a splash. We're crafting these adorable little slug-looking things called Sluggies that come in various pastel colors and sizes.

We're hoping to create a custom website that lists each of the Sluggies individually, similar to how an animal adoption service lists their animals. I'll be writing up little printable biographies about each Sluggie, and no two will be exactly alike.

For example, this might be something you'd see on the site.

quote:

$15.99

Name: Sam the Sluggie
Gender: Female
Color: Blue

Sam the Sluggie needs a good home, and that home could be yours! A friendly and lovable Sluggie, Sam enjoys being around her friends and long cuddling sessions. She's a very social Sluggie that bonds well with boys and girls of any age. Sam is not a picky eater and will gladly munch on anything you give her.

Give Sam a home today!

Also, the Sluggies will have little accessories that they come with. We're thinking items such as hats, dresses, and glasses.

Still, we're really freaking cash-strapped and need money for a web domain and hosting, yarn, buttons, stuffing, etc. Oh, and we could use a decent graphic designer as well. Living paycheck to paycheck sucks.

If you guys would like to donate, we're hosting a (fixed funding) indiegogo. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/amigurumi-sluggies/x/4825147

Thanks goons! Let's hope this takes off.

I'm gonna see if I can get some not cellphone quality pictures soon.
