A little off topic but Gyrou was posting about it earlier so I will too! Actually, I need help with Dolphin. I'm trying to use my PS2 controller as a Classic Controller, but the right joystick is being read all wrong. Dolphin reads it as the right joystick being both rotated and inverted. I can't figure out how to fix this. Any ideas?

I'm having trouble getting my settings to save. I'm using Windows 7. I've moved the folder all around seeing if that was the problem, running as administrator, changing the folder sharing and security settings, etc... but I still have to reselect my addons, BIOS, and speedhack settings about 90% of the time.

I had this exact same problem. It appears that for some reason, the settings are being dumped into a .tmp file, and then moved into pcsx2.ini. The problem I was having is that pcsx2.ini would be deleted every time the emulator tried to write to it, so I ended up with no pcsc2.ini file, and a couple dozen .tmp files in my documents directory.

I was able to fix it by renaming the last written .tmp file to pcsx2.ini and write-protecting it, the deleting the other .tmp files (cuz they're useless). But, I need to repeat that process every time I change a setting now.

I'm guessing the settings have a lot to do with it, but it's been pissing me off really. Any ideas how to get the news builds up to speed??

I can't answer your question very well (at all), but I was having troubles with crashes and such until I turned down the VU cycle stealing to 1. (Was at 2 the whole time)

I also use a program called "GameBooster" which gives me an overall framerate boost. Basically, it shuts down non essential Windows features which frees up my CPU and RAM some.

You probably need some C/C++ runtime library or a more updated version of directx. Read the requirements on the site carefully and download whatever it says.

It sounds like it's finding the dlls fine, but it's not able to process them, which would be missing a system library.

I'm using r3765 and I don't think I did anything special with my settings to run GDF. In fact, I'm pretty sure I got it to run using the default gsdx9 settings. Hardware D3D9, 2x scaling, texture filtering, Logarithmic Z, and Alpha correction enabled. No game fixes are on. That's it.

What kind of cpu master race are you envisioning that this last gen console emulator would require that exceeds a 2.8Ghz quad core? Yes, it will run fine. It runs fine on my dual core 2.6Ghz. Just make sure you have a real video card.

Dr. Video Games 0031

Well AMDs in general are less effecient at running PCSX2. And quad cores don't matter since PCSX2 only utilizes at most 2 cores. That said, my Phenom X4 overclocked to 3.3GHz runs most games I've tried just fine. I haven't tried anything especially demanding, though.

A 3.4 GHz Phenom II? (At least, Front Mission 5 demands this, and probably other things too. 2 cores are fine if you're doing hardware rendering mode, but software rendering doesn't really stand on its own below 6 cores. Intel's different, but I still haven't heard anything about below 3 GHz, and the i5-750 doesn't count because it can push 2 cores to 3.2 if the others are under light load.)

Right now most of their commits seem to be focusing on a branch called newdmac (meaning that until that branch is merged into trunk we don't see the changes). Basically they're rewriting from scratch some large important bit called DMAC. I have no idea how close they are or when it'll be done. They say

quote:

The hopeful goals are:
* 20-40% speedup in many games.
* Full compatibility with nearly all games that currently don't like to boot.
* Forever rid of PATH3 masking and SIGNAL/FINISH synch issues.

It sure sounds nice. We'll see.

The one guy still continues to do a bunch of commits on zz-ogl (the cross platform graphics plugin that's still leagues behind the windows-only one)

I apologize if this has been brought up already in the thread, but I have a problem with my sound and controller.

I just downloaded and set up gyorou's r3845 SVN and I only have one game to test the emulator on (Zone of the Enders 2nd runner). Whenever I have an in game cutscene the sound would stretch out like it's moving in slow motion and it's really annoying. Additionally the game seems to think I've tilted my left analog stick to the right a little bit because when I'm not touching the controller at all I keep turning right uncontrollably.

I got an Intel I7860 with an ATI Radeon 5870 and 4 gb of ram. The lowest my FPS goes is about 40 but it usually sticks to ~60fps for most of the game so I don't understand why the sound fucks up on me during cutscenes like that especially when the rest of the game runs smoothly. Maybe my Xbox 360 controller is broken?

EDIT: I tried fiddling around with the settings including disabling time stretch. Doing that caused the sound to move ahead of what was going on in the actual game even though FPS was still moving steadily at around 60. Audio sync is currently the main problem I'm having and I'm not sure how to fix it.

EDIT2: Well I managed to solve the controller problem, but I'm still having sound issues with ZOE2. Correction, the root of this entire sound problem is actually just ZOE performing poorly as I progress further into the game. Basically the game is unplayable because FPS drops so low everything moves in slow motion. I didn't think that despite buying one of the best CPUs for my mobo I would still be capped by it.

EDIT3: Hmm I also have problems with Front Mission 4 where it freezes once I jump out of the plane.

Do you have any speedhacks on? It is highly recommended even with a fast CPU to enable a few basic speedhacks. The description will tell you what is generally recommended for compatibility vs speed. Unless those games have known problems, your CPU should be fast enough.

DerDestroyer
Jun 27, 2006

I have no speedhacks turned on for FM4 and I can get full FPS out of it, the problem is that it locks up on cutscenes. I did a google search and found out that due to the major code changes in the latest version of PCSX2, FM4 is no longer compatible.

As for Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner, I've tried everything to keep it from lagging and nothing works, the frame rates take a massive plunge even with speedhacks on.

I tried playing 24: The Game on my Phenom 2.6 (overclocked to around 2.76) and although it looked far far far far far better than it does on my PS2 (I mean a loving world of difference) it ran at 10fps in-game. If I were to upgrade my CPU to something beefier would PCSX2 performance raise exponentially? 10fps to 60fps seems like quite a jump.

It was pretty hilarious though, first thing said on the first mission: "Weeeee neeeeeeeeeed tooo geeettttt onnnnnnn thhheee boooooaaatt! Taaaaake iiiiit sllloooooowwwwwwwlllllyyyy".

Gyoru
Jul 13, 2004

It might be the game's fault for running slow. The reason varies from how the game was coded or just general lack of compatibility with PCSX2's engine/drivers. This is especially true for Zone of Enders 2. Game compatibility/speed is always being worked on though. Try running some other games in your possession before deciding that your processor is too slow.
