How is my form guys? Front squats felt sexy as hell and I love them. Defnitely want to get feedback so I can start getting loving awesome at them.

p.s. my friend wants to get stronger with back squats, so here is a video of her if there is any feedback: http://youtu.be/pcMpRJ4ohMA

Front squats look largely good. A few tips: shove those knees out more and drop down a little further, try to catch a bounce at the bottom. Even if you change your foot angle to be a bit wider it won't do any harm. Make sure you really brace your abs and take a really big breath before each rep so your back stays razor straight. This will help with the rolling off too. Other than that they're tidy, these are small tweaks to get more out of the lift.

Front squats are the best, and my person opinion is that once you're ok with a front rack position they're impossible to do with bad form. If your form is off then you end up dropping the bar. I also think they're more useful than back squats, you get a lot of posterior chain work from deadlifts, and I feel like a low bar back squat uses a lot of the same muscles, where a front squat really works your anterior chain and core a whole lot more and balances out the deadlifting. Yay do them more!

^ good post.

Your back squats look really good. For front squats, try to keep your elbows up really high, they looked a bit low in the video (it's a little hard to tell).

Your friend jess is coming way too far forward (watch the path of the bar, it should stay over the mid-foot the entire time). She has to keep the weight on her heels and try to push her hips back, not drop straight down. Also on her way up, she needs to focus on keeping her chest high. Getting her knees out a bit more wouldn't hurt either.

I'll have to practice, I want to be really good at front squats. I feel like it's easy to keep my elbows up before I start going down, but then they tip forward when I go down. Probably means I'm not sitting back enough I guess!

p.s. I know this is loving disgusting but I want to say that I've tried one:

I definitely felt them in my front and abs a lot more, and I liked it a lot! I am excited to practice doing them with my arms out.

For some reason I thought you were supposed to have your feet closer together for this one but spreading them further apart and wider knees will help me a lot I think! I can definitely let my belly fat bounce off my thigh fat to help me get back up.

In food news, I tried my best to not drink yesterday and in the meantime probably ate worse than I should. Still sober, but I did have some sesame chicken and rice, and a tiny thing of Ben & Jerry's (1/2 cup)... I think I mostly stayed within my maintenance calories, but in the worst way possible.

Front squat thing: Get your elbows up, they looked like they were dropping a bit when you were in the hole. Otherwise, super duper!

My fitbit says I'm under based on my activity for the day, but it's hard to judge since my IF window ends before I do the "activity."

Workout 07.06.12

Running (treadmill):

Here is what the FitBit Registered:

I think my most comfortable pace is at about 5.5, if I do 6.0 I can't really keep up for long.

Such a stressful day at work, and at the end of the day the stress turned out to be unneccessary (a "ghost" deadline apparently). Hoping tomorrow will be better.

I forgot to pause it a couple times so it's pretty lazy looking!

Yesterday at my parents' new apartment, we took a walk around the complex and there was a BILLION crawdads having some sort of pilgrimage. We saw SO MANY!!! It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen...

Also, if you guy want to see the most embarrassing video ever, here is a lifetime PR for me!

I've NEVER been able to do the monkey bars, even when I was little. I finally found an accessible playground with them and I wanted to practice so I could gear up for Tough Mudder in February.

I've never been able to monkey bar either. Just dead hang and then I'd just drop cuz I couldn't get to the next one. I wanna try it now. What a lovely workout. I was planning on deadlifting but I forgot to tell you guys that lately my lower back (on my left) has been tweaking like crazy. I feel like I might have strained it?

The weird part is when I'm doing front squats, it doesn't hurt at all until the second I put the weight back on the rack. Then it tweaks out like crazy (Think the squealing guitar solo shoulder pain from that old dude in Rookie of the Year)... I don't know what it means but since I've thrown out my back a ton in the past I'm hesitant to do poo poo with it.

There was this loving douchebag at the gym yesterday that had racked weights onto EVERYTHING, including:

Leg Press
Deadlift Bar
Decline Bench
Incline Bench
Squat Rack
A Bunch of Dumbbells Out
Box Jumps

Good for you buddy, but loving let me use one. Then he goes up to some dude benching (while he is benching) going "excuse me dude, are you using this?" and then started using the Bench as well.

Something SUPER awkward happened as well. There was this tiny little black guy w/ glasses watching me my whole workout, and while I was doing the standing triceps extensions he started talking to me (He looks like a young David Liebe Hart from Tim & Eric). Here is how it went:

- H-hey, how is it going?
- Good, how are you?
- ok... a-are...are you working out?
- yep!
- ..oh. you- you look good working out.
- oh, thank you! I feel like I look gross.
* he follows me over to the military press *
- what, like you feel nauseated?
- no, I feel sweaty and like I look gross.
- I... I don't know if you know this but.. when you work out you sweat so it is good.
- Yeah I figured that out, haha
- Hey... my name is Gregory, what is your name?
- Brianna.
- Are you busy?
- Huh?
- Are you busy-- tomorrow or the next day?
- Oh! I am sorry, I have a boyfriend.
* mumbles and wanders away *
* is bewildered and embarrassed *

I am not equipped to handle this poo poo, and I get embarrassed for people. I think I blacked out. Earlier in the day the butcher at Whole Foods flirted w/ me and I'm pretty sure I handled it with an equal amount of confusion and awkwardness (he was actually super attractive and I hadn't showered so I just don't understand).

Today is free Slurpee Day! 7/11! Probably going with coworkers to get a free small sugar free slurpee but otherwise eating pretty clean.

Moral of the story is NEVER SHOWER. Maybe that's not right but the dudes seem to like it.

Also I kinda wanna hug that guy and take him home and make him a cup of tea cause he seemed so earnest and awkward. I love that he's a Gregory and not a Greg. Also there was nothing there you could have done to make that non-awkward.
