On the subject of Patrick Stump, I was watching "100 Greatest Songs Of The 2000s" or whatever on Vh1 a few nights ago and he was on it as one of the commentators a few times. Dude looks absolutely nothing like he used to. He looks like loving Morrissey or something now. It's incredibly jarring to see.

Always good to see PBC and I love Such Gold but I'd never seen Fireworks before and they put on an awesome awesome show.

Anyone else going to the NFG Pop Punks Not Dead tour? Looks like Set Your Goals is off the line-up, and I wasn't too happy to see that. Still, going to see my all-time favorite band, NFG, for the first time ever is making me drat fidgety. Why yes, my musical tastes did stop developing when I was 14, why do you ask? ![]() edit - Actually, looks like SYG is still confirmed... Holy poo poo this show is going to blow my mind. Cmdr. Yep, I remember that stuff back from when I was a kid. Chokehold and Another Victim were the best bands from the sxe 90's bands. I also definitely have the "Make Them Talk" split from Racetraitor and Burn It Down floating around my apartment somewhere. Anyway, everybody remember how great Daggermouth was? I loved seeing that band.

No mention of the new New Found Glory and Four Year Strong albums? For shame, scenecore thread. 'Radiosurgery' was an instant hit for me. Love the title track, and "Memories and Battle Scars" is a brilliant pop punk record. Reading about the back story of the album a little (Ian Grushka's divorce) helped me appreciate the songs a little more. Definitely gonna be rotating it over the next few months. 'In Some Way Shape of Form' is going to take a little longer to get used it. Some of the songs ("Just Drive" and "Unbreakable") are great songs. There are others that I'm not sure about though. Josh Lyford's departure has definitely changed the sound of the band, not necessarily in a bad way. My friend and I both agree that there's an early Foo Fighters-type sound to some tracks. Also got a hold of Zebrahead's latest, 'Get Nice!' (I guess these guys fit here?) Really great record, building on 'Phoenix' and 'Broadcast to the World', both of which I thought were fantastic records. Check out the title track and "Light Up the Sky", two stand out songs for me.

Yeah, I thought that was the problem with "Not Without a Fight", had some really great songs and some kinda forgettable ones. And I'm still really bummed I didn't get to go to the tour, passed through Orlando (I'm in Gainesville) and I couldn't get a ride down. I just got a hold of the new Man Overboard and Transit albums. I'm only 3 songs into the Transit album but both are already fantastic albums, highly recommended.

So clothing company Glamour Kills announced their official tour lineup, and things are looking way better than previous years. http://www.glamourkills.com/gktour/ The Wonder Years Polar Bear Club Transit The Story So Far A Loss for Words Into It. Over It. I love all of these bands (besides AL4W, maybe) and I am unbelievably stoked, but I am a little disappointed that the Boston/Cambridge date is at The Middle East after TSSF swore to never play it again. I guess GK is paying them enough not to care. Lame, but whatever, I'll still go because I am a corporate shill who loves these bands.

The vocals are too clean and the lyrics make me cringe; it feels like it's aimed at 16 year old girls. That said, I finally got around to listening to IIOI's "Proper" and I'm really digging that. The re-appropriated Stay Ahead of the Weather song (Discretion and Depressing People) is sick.

XIII posted:I don't know if they exactly fit the bill for this thread, and I don't know of a better thread for them, but the new Enter Shikari album is out and it. is. really. good. I'd like to think this is because they bought in Dan Weller (ex-SikTH) to do all the production works for the album. He did the guitar production for Common Dreads, which was a bit better than their debut, so they brought him in for the full production job for A Flash Flood of Colour and it is a lot (of bit) better than their other two albums.

I like it a fair amount, but I'm still not a fan of the spoken word parts, and the mix of the two genres can still feel quite awkward (especially in "Arguing With Thermometers" when the dubstep comes out of absolutely nowhere).

As much as I wanted to like the first album (and there are still some great songs on it), the British accent was just too grating sometimes. Never listened to the second album, but after reading some reviews of the new one, I can't wait to dig into it. Anybody checked out the acoustic EP Make Do and Mend released some months ago? The songs translate excellently, and there are some cool new songs and a cover on it as well. Definitely psyched for their new LP in 2012 (produced by Matt Bayles, woop woop). Also, new Every Time I Die on the way - anyone psyched?

Resurrecting the thread for this blog post by Patrick Stump, which details some of the events that lead to the hiatus of Fall Out Boy, what he's done since, and what he plans to do in the future. It's really sad to hear about the hate that he got after the last FoB album, and how that carried on into his solo career. I'm not gonna lie, I was one of the people who derided FoB for a while. Since then, I've listened to their first two albums more and found that (once I stopped taking my friends' opinions for my own) they were solid pop-punk records. But as Stump says, he's not that person any more, and clearly their later stuff wasn't received well, so I don't see how any new albums would work. Fall Out Boy were one of the bands that made pop-punk what it is today (for better or for worse), and I'm sorry to see them disappear.
