Sure, I won't get into an argument to being faster, but the only logic you have is what the computer has programmed into it, and not to further derail, but people can do what computers can't even simulate. I'm not making an argument that a person will be better than a computer every time, that'd be stupid - but I'd rather put my life in my own hands than a computer with some predefined rules.

How the hell did you end up with that? I ended up with nearly $40,000 when I priced one. Granted, I wanted leather seats and a moonroof, but there's a bit of a difference. Was yours the 5 speed manual, or the 6?

I think part of the reason this is so may be because prices for maintenance and service are primarily labor-dependent and highly local, which means that they scale differently compared to the prices of goods. I would need to support this hunch with data, but it's possible that everyday maintenance has gotten more expensive for people who can't do a lot of the work themselves.

Considering that boiling water to make instant (soup, coffee, tea, ramen) is now the bar set by most for taking care of nutrition, I can only assume the same for most peoples' view of car maintenance.

Seriously dude, your car in 1995 stickered five grand above the A6 GTI MSRP in 2012.

Edit: I'll try to turn this in to less of a slap fight. The reason that you don't get better straightline performance is because FWD is pretty much inherently limited to about 250hp for street purposes. Your car was already quite quick and pushing the limits of FWD straightline performance. However, I fail to see how a manufacturer making a car with similar straightline performance, better handling, more features, better occupant safety, for significantly less money, is somehow unimpressive.

I paid $1500 for it last month. :q:

I see your point, but with the convergence of technology and expense within the last 20 years, everything's getting smarter, cheaper, and more prone to breaking. So, I kind of feel the 'MSRP' has been a non-issue qualification.

I never claimed it was unimpressive, either, just that 'we achieved that'.
