After such an interesting set-up, I'm hoping this arc doesn't end with Natsu eating some bullshit magical item and going to town on some villains (Oh hey, its Jellal? No prob, I'll chug some etherion crystals. Need to fight Brain/Zero? Thanks for the golden flame Jellal!). Perhaps Mashima will be really unpredictable and start to bring the dragons into the mix (though I hope he saves that for a while, because that seems like something that would come near the end of the manga).

I'm ok with dumb or uninspired powers/magic,but I'm more worried about all the simultaneous fights/subplots going on that are diluting the story's focus (3 fights, the Gray/Ultear business, the new child from the last page, Kana's daddy issues, and I guess maybe that guy from the council. I'm not saying have a layered or complicated story is bad, it's just not great for the narrative sometimes.

I don't know, it looked like Gildarts got hit and lost his footing due to the tree being messed with, but I don't necessarily think that he lost to Bluenote yet. But I wouldn't mind more Erza

Maybe the guild will somehow stumble onto a 4th dragonslayer (not Laxus) through some miracle or Igneel will show up and save them or the power of friends and nakama and BURNING SPIRIT saves them once again. Anything but Gerard, please.

It was all down to Erza, who was in a total shounen protagonist scenario. It would be stranger if she did not get one. Maybe the lizardmen jailors beating up Gerard is the mangaka's way of joking about how the whole Gerard angle has been beaten to death It's a good thing Erza's hair wasn't brown or she could have ended up as Erza Fudgehead.
