I once played in a 29th realism battle, it was on that Day of Defeat knock off that one of the guys said "yeah our mapper made this!". Also, no ironsights, crouching or going prone, was allowed. I guess it was at the end and they were trying to blow off steam and have fun after all of their "realism".

A few nights ago I watched someone with a 29.FkR tag whine about the swearing rules until he got banned from the 29th server. It occurred to me then that it is actually possible to be more pathetic than the 29th themselves. I mean, goddamn, their swearing rules are retarded, but I'm not going to get myself banned from the game's only 70-player server just so I can crusade for my freedom of speech in a loving computer game.

No swearing rules are stupid but they're completely tolerable unless you're a big insufferable baby. The 29th's server is fine to play on, excluding the lovely maps.

The only thing more annoying than no swearing is no talking about anything but the game. It essentially makes the TWB servers completely silent if one of them is on or is in the Webadmin interface.

Your experience will wary with your regular playing times and the server. The later I play the more weird the 29th get, as the Americans who make up the bulk of it start playing. During euro play hours and on the euro server I've had no one mention any of the rules, while I've chatted in foreign languages and mocked people for being poo poo at the game while attending "practice" sessions.

Like all those orange maps for Source games like Counter-Strike: Source and those surf maps for the same type of games. Makes you pine for de_dust and cs_office, doesn't it? Kinda Red Orchestra related: I went to the States on the weekend and entered a outdoors-themed store. They had a bunch of guns in one section, even a little museum with some rare ones like a Luger and a 1928 Tommy gun. I got to handle a couple of rifles that will be in Heroes of Stalingrad. The first was a Kar98K, which I think was from World War 1 since the handle that cycles the bolt-action mechanism went straight out instead of curved. The second was a Mosin Nagant M91/30. Got to cycle it a few times, neat. If I had to choose, I'd go with the Mosin Nagant. Too bad I'm Canadian, otherwise I would have gotten that Mosin Nagant for $150. Also hoping the beta starts on August 23rd or 24th, since the 24th is my birthday.

FYI, it is entirely possible to get a Mosin Nagant for that price or lower if you know where to look, and I am talking about here in Canada. I've got a bunch of old milsurp bolt rifles myself, and I love shooting them. They are really my favourite kind of firearms, though I own a couple of modern guns, too. vvv I cannot imagine paying five times the going price for any Nagant. You poor Australian bastards. It depends on the country of origin and year of manufacture on how much they are. I've had good experience with J&G sales, their prices always seem reasonable and they have some of the more interesting models rotate in now and again: http://www.jgsales.com/index.php/ri...t/cPath/209_261 If you get a Mosin, I HIGHLY recommend looking for the pre-war hex receiver ones. My understanding is their manufacture was a lot better, as the round-receiver rifles were wartime panic production, and have a lot more problems like sticky bolts and other flaws. I picked up a beautiful hex-reciever from them that turned out to be an ex-dragoon rifle from 1927 for like $80. The thing is a tack driver also. Never, ever pay more than $150 for a mosin, even the "sniper" ones. One of my dad's friend's got shafted and paid like $800 for a "sniper mosin". It was indeed one of the ones modified for sniper/sharpshooter duty, but as you can see on J&G those only go for over $100. They sell one on there for $450, but that comes with a reproduction scope, and that is a good deal of the price.

Shoot enough heavy ball ammo in your hex receiver Mosin, and you'll eventually get the sticky bolt, too. It's less an issue of wartime vs. peacetime production, and more a case of people shooting 180gn rounds out of a rifle intended to fire 147gn. Polishing the chamber interior can help mitigate the effect when shooting heavier ammo. e: also, if you want a truly nice, accurate Mosin, get one of the Finnish ones. The M28 and the M39 are about the pinnacle of the Mosin design, in my opinion. You will be paying more than $150 for one, though, unless the person selling it to you is retarded or the patron saint of generosity. They have an awesome history, and most will have seen combat against the Soviets and/or Nazis. I own an M39 and hope to get an M28, but have not yet had the desire to buy the M91/30.
