I gotta say, finding the last thing needed to do in a town/village is extremely annoying. They really should have added something to keep track of what type of thing you have left to do in each place. I wouldn't get nearly so frustrated if I knew whether I should be looking for a crate or something to destroy. It's especially irritating when you are in some little podunk town that only has 4 things in it anyway. I've picked up 2 crates and I can see the giant water tower that I have to destroy, but I can't find the last thing I need to do and I have floated over the town 4 loving times already. I know that you can see boxes from the air since they have a glowing flash to them and I know that if you get close enough a white arrow pops on your screen. But they really should have expanded that range or included destruction targets as a marker too. My other major complaint is one again the main map system is just terrible. It was the same way in the original. The full zoom out is alright as it allows you to see the territory controlled by various groups, but the zoom in is terrible. You don't get any real definition if you zoom in slightly from the full out position and you lose all context of where you are in relation to everything else if you zoom in all the way. I mean I guess it's not truly terrible, but for some reason the map system just bothers me. edit - Also, it would have been nice to be able to change the difficulty level after starting. I started on experienced mode and I kind of wish I had just gone with normal. It's not that experienced is that hard, it's just kind of annoying and I kind of feel like I just should have gone with normal and had more fun. And it would be nice if heat went down faster. I don't mind having to run away when I get high heat, but it would be nice if it went down a little bit faster. TMMadman fucked around with this message at Mar 24, 2010 around 20:45 |

This is one of the few games of recent memory where I actually want to get everything done, though those really small things you can miss from completely discovering a town is worse than the Crackdown ability orbs because at least you had some idea of where to look based on the sound. Sometimes the stuff will never show up at all. Is Mercenary Mode something that you can select from the start menu once the game is beaten or are you still stuck at the difficulty that you beat the normal game at?

It has an indicator that shows up when you get within a huge radius of a crate, and the bars fill up as you get closer. You can tell where the crate is by triangulation, don't have to wait to get the arrow on your screen.

You can pretty much get all the crates in smaller towns just by hitting the four corners of it and going where the beacon tells you.

I still wish they would have at least put in something to tell you how much of each type of thing you have to do in each town. It would have been nice if the intel file had that info. It has the total reward and money you get for completing the town, so it would have been nice to see it also say something like the area contains 3 destruction targets and 5 resource crates.

It would have been nice if you could drop off grapple without using the parachute in the middle of a zip. I find myself moving around by using the grapple as a zipline and it sucks that when you grapple to a wall, you have to either go all the way to it before dropping off or you have to open your parachute on the way there.

Can I go in reverse while on the ground as a plane? I got in a cool as gently caress looking jet called the eclipse g9 or some poo poo and ended up having to drag it out of a ditch with a giant truck so i could take off. I pressed every button but couldn't go in reverse, I could fire the autocannon and rockets though

Traveling short distances, to outposts/towns/etc, becomes a lot easier once you unlock a helicopter. The air vehicles in this game are really fun to fly. I am blown away by how huge and seamless the entire game world is. JC2 raises the bar for open ended sandbox games. I am especially in love with the fact that the whole gameworld is open right from the start and that you don't need to work towards unlocking everything. I want a single player sandbox fantasy RPG with a world this freaking huge. Bethesda needs to take examples from JC2, this is how you build a gameworld.

Pheener posted:You can, at least on the PC version. Just hit the grapple button again. Oh sweet. I tried every button but that one. Thanks. Also, it's so hilarious to mess something up and then just blow up. I was cruising around in one of the little prop planes just discovering some areas when I come upon the giant radio mast from the demo area (the one just above the training demo area). So as I cruise past it, my wing clips one of the wires and it breaks. It was awesome, so I decide I want to try to take down the mast by clipping the other two wires with my wing. So I fly around a little bit and keep missing the wires, nearly fly right into the mast once, before finally getting lined up on one of the wires. Well I guess I was a little too close because when I hit the wire the entire plane blew right the gently caress up. It did take out the mast, so that was cool, but I couldn't help but scream 'Oh God no!!!!' right as I blew up.

I find jets (at least the starter jet) really, really hard to fly on the PC version. Just flying around is fine, but tight turns in air races and stuff are super-hard. also its taking forever to unlock stuff on the black market jesus christ
