ZenMaster posted:Can anyone explain why Gamespot always takes 3-5 days to get a review up of a new game? I like the video reviews as they show tons of footage and the gripes and good of the game. Wouldn't they get an early copy and be able to review it before the game launches or at least time the review with the launch? Well, to answer your question anyways, Gamespot has a much smaller staff than they used to, meaning less people are responsible for more games. IGN just cut a huge amount of staff recently as well, so we'll see the same effect from them.

So for goons already playing the PS3 version, how are you finding it? I liked the demo and it's flashbacks of Red Faction/Mercenaries, so I was thinking of picking it up on Friday.

In response to the poster who wanted to control grapple length, I think it depends on how far the object is from something. If two barrels are next to one another, the grapple will be short, but tying a guy to the top of a tree will make it so he can run around a bit, he would need to be near the top of the tree to make the rope short.

Dear god this world is mind numbingly large. I just done one or two missions for the reapers and the rest of the time exploring. Great fun:) I refound my jet, hooked someone up to it, and while I was doing a 360, it snapped. That dude flew.

(reposting from the veeeery end of the previous page) Is it at all possible to control the length of your grapple? That is, when I attach something to a light post, I'd like to make it hang in air, not be pulled slightly toward the pole but still sit on the ground.

Is there a way to remap all function of the "Interact" key. It still has the stupid crap from the demo where if you change it from E (default), it will change over all the functions but the equip weapon key, which is annoying if you put something like the grappling hook on that button.

Ugh, steam wouldn't accept two different cards that I knew had money on them and I double checked today, and it's still not working, anyone know what could be wrong? I'm kinda peeved I have to pay an extra 5 bucks now even when I do get it working.

Between the Steam tech support talk and the (awesome!) Gibbed mod, this thread feels like it needs to be split between PC and Console. Consolers are just gonna gently caress around and play with the game as it is, and PC'ers are gonna be talking about how they flew up 20,000 feet (because someone raised the ceiling) drove their car as a submarine under water (because someone coded a car that way) and Consolers are just gonna be like... ummm... ok?

Vita posted:Are there any more weapons in the full game than in the demo? If they aren't in the game already, there will be more weapons in the form of DLC, and if the datamining gibbed did was correct, they're going to be the most awesome weapons ever. We're going to get, just to name a few: a grenade launcher that fires cluster bombs. rocket launcher + shotgun = rocket launcher that fires 5 rockets at a time in a random, tight pattern. Tuk Tuk with nuke attachment on top of it. and that's only three things out of a list of like 20 or so. Don't worry, we're going to get all kinds of awesome toys to play with. VVV Do any jets have lock-on missile launchers? The tech is obviously in the game, as the SAM site missiles can lock onto helicopters you fly, but do we get to fire lock-on weapons? so to answer my own question about jets, if you go to the big airport directly south of the 3 large cities to the west (it's the one with 3 runways) there are some eclipse jets or some poo poo that are insaaaane. got tank machineguns and poo poo.

For those that bought JC2PC from GameStop/Amazon/place that had preorder DLC, does your game directory have a DLC directory? or DLC files in archives_win32? Just curious (GoGamer's retail copy didn't have any DLC after all).

There's also a jet on the Mile High Club. Strippers, too. The coordinates that weird in-game universe blog that popped up in the demo thread had are accessible now that the full game has landed. Blog, or x:16197 y:22037. It's a map point on the patch of land connecting the demo island to the big island with the mountain. I've found the house mentioned, but nothing terribly special yet aside from a bunch of upgrade and money boxes.

AndroidHub posted:Nevermind, apparently my bank had valve flagged as some sort of online gambling company Well, from their end, they probably see an online company that seems to be extracting small, relatively continuous, bet-sized amounts of money from people and they're wondering what's up. I mean, they probably know about Amazon.com and Ebay, but they very well might never have heard of Steam. I mean I certainly wouldn't blame my bank for suspecting Steam of being a gambling site based on my spending habits during the Christmas sale. Fighter Jets: There's three in game actually. There's the cheap and cheerful one you unlock in the black market, there's the standard green ones (they look like harriers) that the military has in spades at their runway'd bases, and then there's the G9 - the American style F22 maybe. Holy gently caress they're fun, but hard to fly. There's nothing as awesome as being able to fly upside down over the sea, as the sun comes up. Unfortunately, there's no dogfighting missions, so you can't go ahead and recreate Top Gun.

You CAN find fighter jets flying about in the sky but the last time I tried to dogfight one I just sort of plowed into it. I'm still not done EVERY mission yet, but As far as I've seen there's no fighters in missions, and when you piss the military off enough they do send tanks and poo poo, along with rather nice attack copters. I prefer those copters since you don't have to kill anybody before you jack them Also, either gibbed or gandh, you need to find a way in the full game to increase the strength of the tracking beacons... and then port that to the 360, thanks. Planes: Pell Silverbolt 6 - The starter plane you can get from the black market. It's pretty small, but has no armaments even when upgraded. Si-47 Leopard - Your bargain basement fighter. Easy to fly, has both a minigun and rockets. Nothing to really look at and she has lovely HP. You can however jack it without a button mashing minisequence G9 Eclipse - Well, it's what the west makes best. Insane speeds, but poo poo maneuverability. Comes with an autocannon and rockets. Nothing is quite as fun as plowing a 747 into an office tower, though. PopeOnARope fucked around with this message at Mar 23, 2010 around 20:21 |

So I'm playing on Hardcore because I loved the demo and was good at killing stuff, and I was getting my rear end kicked on the early mission where you have to escort Blaine while (on hardcore) a billion SUVs are chasing you until I realized you can pretty much win any chase situation by grappling cars chasing you to the ground or other surroundings to make them flip over and blow up. Also you can just grapple the soldiers on the outsides shooting at you straight out of the car. I love this game.
