Nice shooting, man! That CZ is really making me want one... It's so pretty and low profile... Herr Tog posted:So if I am planning on sometimes CCW my center fire pistol then IDPA maybe a better choice for me? Know what's the best choice? Whichever competition is going on that weekend. Seriously, just get out there and go! Steel challenge, IDPA, USPSA, whatever is on the schedule just show up and have fun! Even if you have no idea what the rules are I guarantee the other shooters will be happy to fill you in and get you started. The absolute hardest part is going to that first competition. Once you've made it to the finish line once, no matter how you placed, you'll be hooked. I guarantee it. Some hard won advice: - Slow is fast. Don't rush. - DQs suck, but they happen. Shake it off, grab a beer, and beat them next weekend. - Gear doesn't matter. Guns don't matter. YOU are the only thing holding you up.

Edit: ^^^^^ Lots of this! Hello rear end thread, and hello Front Range (Colorado) goons reading the rear end thread. If any of you are awake, mobile, and in possession of a current IDPA classification, the state IDPA championship is in Montrose at the end of June. Registration is open here. If you do not hold a classification, Front Range IDPA will run the classifier 12 May. If you are in or around Pueblo, every Wednesday from about 3:30 to 6:30 PM this summer is practice for steel challenge. The 2012 Rocky Mountain Regionals are at the end of May. The entry fee is kind of steep, but tons of cool people show up. Pueblo West Sportsman's Association also hosts a ton of poo poo. If you are around Fort Collins or Limon, I know they've got stuff running out there too, but I don't know what it is!

Thank you for you words of advice, I'll take which ever one is first up on the weekend that I can go to once I can get going, thanks Foghorn. Anyone savy to CA specific rules of events? I'm kind of thinking of going the Mini-14 route instead of AR-15 since the fixed mag requirement would slow reloads to a relative crawl if I don't have specific equipment which may be against the rules.

I thought it was a pretty bad run, and still got marksman. Note that that was when my 1911 really should have had its recoil spring replaced, and we were terrible at recoil control at that time. SFG missed marksman by what, like 1 second, and I got marksman pretty cleanly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-F7XkqnDNA Here is a guy shooting SSP, and making master.

Thank you for the video, seems like I definitely want to try both. Also your video pointed me to good beginner videos. IDPA is looking more like what I want for a CCW center-fire pistol.

gently caress standards period. I get what they're going for, but they just end up being not fun and due to the offhand part of it they always feel slow.

In February, when my hands were freezing. It was a shitshow.
