This is a very, very stupid question: For Gears 2, which button triggers the unique, weapon specific executions? I've got 9 of 11 for the achievement, but (god help me) I forget what to press to initiate them.

Is anyone else finding hardcore difficulty a bit too easy? Not that I'm complaining but it seems like the AI allies are really overpowered and do a lot of the hard work for you.

I think I'm on default though.

If you mean things like adding bits of armor or whatever then no. There are multiple versions of some characters though.

I apologize if this has been asked recently but this thread moves pretty quick now. I have a financially destitute friend who's going to be getting this for a short while off Gamefly- does the co-op campaign on Live require the online multiplayer pass? Or is the pass deal just for if you want to kill each other?

Yeah thank god this game doesn't have any of that multiplayer pass stuff. Just lots and lots of micros transaction stuff that someone renting the game will never have to worry about.

I never knew people got this hung up on skins. I got the gold hammerburst and gold lancer in Gears 2 and really didn't give a poo poo about them after the first day.

In today's Penny Arcade news post, Gears of War 3 got some surprising praise from Tycho, mostly regarding the characterization. I know a lot of goons dislike the PA dudes for whatever reason, but here it is for those interested:Tycho from PA posted:You should know that the game’s lead writer, Karen Traviss, loves The “Cole Train” - whose full name is Augustus Cole, and who in conversations with me she has referred to simply as Augustus. That’s her in a nutshell. There’s a reason why she keeps getting these jobs: she has a tremendous heart for the soldier, and telling their stories is a kind of overriding personal mission. Cole? The best line in the game? poo poo, man. This is a Gears title, so I'm not expecting anything truly groundbreaking with regard to the story, but you guys know how much of a pedant Tycho is, so that's some high praise (in my eyes, anyway).

Having read the novels, I'm really excited to Karin Travis' really excellent work brought into the game world. She really is excellent in the books at bringing new, subtle depth to many of the Gears characters.

So I just beat the campaign. In my opinion, it definitely lives up to the hype. There's one section which I think most people will see as "the junker section", but it wasn't offensively bad, just stretched out a little. There were some great boss battles, and I think it finished really strong.
