I get up and realize there is a sea of ammunition laying on the ground as far as the eye can see. I check the AK, it's empty. I start picking up rounds off the ground looking for the one that will fit in the magazine. I never find a single round that will fit, even after hours of looking in the hot desert sun. Then I wake up. I have an opposite ammo-gun-mismatch in dreams; Anything that's at least a centerfire cartridge will work just fine in any firearm available. Individual cartridges often change caliber while I'm holding them, even. Stare at some 9mm and next time you blink it's .45ACP. This doesn't matter because the shotgun can fire them all and work fine anyway. As long as "work fine" includes "The bullet leaves the gun at a sort of mild tossing velocity and isn't capable of even moderately annoying a target."

I had a dream about a week ago where a .44 magnum revolver was integrated into the body of an AR where it could be loaded from the magazine or a loading gate on the side. I tend to have a lot of dreams where things fit together in impossible ways. One of my favorites was where a game of laser tag forced the resettlement of one team into the desert to found a new civilization and city, where afterward the opposing team returned to challenge the city in a game of lacrosse with each goal housed at the core of the two opposed cities. Our goal was at the top of an escalator pyramid at the base of Yggdrasil. Content: Rewatched the Bourne Identity the other night. I was appreciative of small things like seeing the characters have to reload on a consistent basis. However, the bad: Fully automatic "sniper" fire from +300 yards, and then promptly abandoning said fully automatic weapon for no reason and switching to a handgun to fight a break-action shotgun in open terrain.

It's like he got pissed off, took the scope and silencer off (why you'd take the silencer off is beyond me), and then realized...poo poo, forgot to put the BUIS on the gun today, welp, looks like I'm gonna be pistoling it up.

When I have a gun dream it's usually the More recently, I dreampt that I was meeting my dad, brother and sister in a really fancy hotel suite to do some shooting (yeah, in the fancy hotel suite). I was getting out my guns, but they were all completely rusted through, like to the point that they were falling apart in my hands. All that is, except for my Makarov. It was in totally pristine condition. I commented on this and everyone was like: "Dude, that's 'cause it's Russian milsurp." I woke up and cleaned all of my guns after that

Road to Perdition- Good: Head wounds bleed a lot, gunshot wounds at close range produce powder burns, shot glass explodes and causes a nasty eye wound, gun handling is generally good. Bad: Dramatic cocking of hammer on 1911s.

I imagine this was a safety concern for how close he put the gun to the proximity of the actor and they therefore used a flashpaper gun or the flashes were just added in post production.

Just saw some tactical 1903 room entry in Shutter Island last night. Not sure what else I should think about the movie though. I suppose it was good. Annnnd I had an epic weapon failure dream last night. I was in the desert on the run from something, that something turned out to be a bunch of drug runners that we're in No Country for Old Men. I was being chased by a truck full of gun men. I got to the high ground to get the jump on them and my stock snapped off. And then when I went to fire, the trigger pull had to have been 4 tons because no matter how hard I pulled the trigger I couldnt get it to fire. I got shot, and then woke up.

This is more of a question than a submission. In the end of Metal Gear Solid 4 (I know video games are notoriously bad in their portrayals of firearms but still) when Snake goes to commit suicide he drops the magazine out of his 1911 and loads a round in the chamber. However, after he chickens out and fires the shot away from his body, the gun is seen in his hand with the slide locked back. Would the slide lock back like that without a magazine? I guess I do not know anything about guns.

No gun dream, but I did have a strange as gently caress dream last night. I was back in school, only poo poo was all strange. I can't figure out if it was supposed to be middle school or college. I was there with all my old college buddies, only all of us were about 14 years old or so. The class I kept going to was taught by my old AP European History teacher from HS, but it was in a gently caress-off big auditorium like you'll use for large, general-ed classes at a university Did I say that it was my old college buds in that class? Well, that was a little bit of a lie. It was me, my old college buds, and Hitler. 14 year old Hitler, but he had the 'stasche. Yeah. He was a bit of a whiny douche, so instead of paying attention to class we would prank the poo poo out of him the entire time. Tied his shoe laces and backpack straps to the lecture chairs, set him up on a blind date with a Jewish girl, used a razor to cut the bottom out of his lunch bag while he wasn't paying attention so all his poo poo spilled when he picked it up, that sort of thing. Every time I kind of started feeling bad for basically bullying the poo poo out of this kid I though "oh, wait, this is loving HITLER" and it was OK. Today, today I am doing anything BUT history.

Just about all my dreams are awesome but I lucid dream. The thing is when I am in dreams, I have to remind myself NOT to look at my feet. Of course, reminding yourself constantly in dreams means you are without a doubt going to do it. What happens when I look at my feet? I see I am not wearing shoes. Whenever I am not wearing shoes in my dreams I get mad as hell and wake up. No matter how awesome or busy my dream is, if I look at my bare feet I wake up. I've even tried to trick my body by wearing shoes to bed. It's like some weird physiological prerequisite that I have to have shoes if I am going to experience my dream until it's end.

We really need to make a gun dream thread. I had one the other night where I was in World War 2, but we were in a relatively modern shopping mall. I was leading a group of G.I.s who looked a bit like rappers given the Bill Maudlin "dogfaced soldier" look. There's was a guy I called Snoop (although he looked more like Tupac), a big guy I called Tone Loc, and another big guy that I can't remember what I called him. I remember we went to the quartermaster and we outfitted the two big guys with M1919A4 and wrapped with belts of .30 caliber ammo. I think I gave Snoop my M1 carbine and picked a rotating arsenal of weapons as I'd pick one up then give it to another soldier passing by and as are squad got larger. I got a BAR, a Garand, a Thompson, another M1, and a pump shotgun. We finally entered combat on the snow covered roof and I can't recall what I was using, but I remember telling my men that to "shoot where my tracers are going". It's funny because I even tell myself in the dream that that's not a good idea to be shouting that order. Eventually, we kill the Germans off (hey, two machineguns and good fire direction gets poo poo done), we advance and end up going into one of their positions and picking up a Stg44 that felt like it was made out of tin.

Dream from last night. I was a sheriff's deputy for some small Missouri town. One of my close friends, the sheriff and myself had tracked two serial killers to an abandoned elementary school. The killers had been released from prison, become cops and started killing again. I had some bizarre, custom weapon. At first I thought it was a cut down M14, but in retrospect, it was some sort of pistol chambered in .308. It looked like a cut down M2 carbine but used M14 mags. So near as I can tell, it was a straight blow back pistol chambered in .308 that used M14 mags. Semi-auto had a two stage trigger for precision fire while full auto used electricity to fire rounds. I remember shooting at one of the killers as he ran across a field. We followed him and stacked up outside of the school, ready for entry. I asked the sheriff if I could order a few 20 rounders for my pistol since I only had five rounders. He said I could when we were done, then told me to get on point and put my pistol on FA. So we kicked in the door of this school and went through to the door of the admin office. So I kicked it in and ran smack into one of the killers. I fired off my entire magazine and predictably, only one round hit him, the rest went into the ceiling. He hit me in the shoulder and the sheriff and my friend took him down with their .357 revolvers. So I was standing there over this dead serial killer who looked like Gallagher, holding my shoulder. Then I woke up.

I am being 100% honest when I say I had some dream that largely consisted of very boring firearms maintenance and cleaning followed by some stuff out of Red Faction: Guerilla like blowing up buildings (which I've been playing a lot lately). The catch was that all the other people helping me had avatars for heads and were various regular TFR posters, including Automator, IR35, and some others I can't quite remember. Except Automator looked like himself, because I know what he looks like. What snapped me out of it and woke me up was when we started talking about posting the dream in this thread.

Agreed, I had to scroll down about 2 pages of this thread, gently caress the gaffes, this was a good movie if you ignored a few scenes. Of course I liked the movie, it didn't make jack poo poo at the box office which guarantees zero sequels.... double-edged sword sometimes, I suppose.
