You know, now that I've seen MAD it kind of looks like this terrible pilot I saw on Comedy Central. I don't remember the name of the show, but god it was just the most terrible celebrity humor and it was too raunchy to be enjoyable. Wish I knew the name.

Crossposting from the general kids show thread since I hadn't caught up on this thread and missed all the Regular Show discussion:...of SCIENCE! posted:Finally caught up on Regular Show. I'd been avoiding it because I remember the pilot from last year being really, really weak but I liked JG Quintel's student films so I gave it a shot and I liked it. It does feel a little too self-consciously surreal or "random" at times (like one of the main characters being a sentient gum ball machine for no reason) and it doesn't match Flapjack's humor or Adventure Time's, well, adventure but it does have promise.

See, I find nothing wrong with one of the characters being a gumball machine. Regular show knows it's a cartoon and is reveling in it. Sometimes a creator wants to do something just because it's fun and they like the design. For reference: Superjail.

I remember reading that Adam Muto gets real pissed when people associate writing for "Adventure Time" with drug abuse. That's understandable but it looks like Quintel doesn't have an excuse. That was all about doing drugs.
