I know this guy. He did a few animated segments for "Screenwipe". He has a pretty distinct style. I picked up on it right away.

At that time Nick was losing its viewer who use to watch Nick's Snick or whatever they had at the time. During production of Zim adult swim started to be all week. All of this info came from the Zim directors commentary.

No, Adult Swim was originally only on Sunday nights and definitely started after Zim. Maybe you mean Toonami which was turned into Cartoon Network's teen/anime block.

Like I said, got the story from the directors commentary off the dvds, so could be wrong, but the jist of the story was Nick wanted to compete against cartoon network late night, then changed mind during production

Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet way predated the network officially rolling out Adult Swim as a coherent programming block, but were clearly the proto-Adult Swim in that they were late night programming targeted at stoners (and was done by the same people). That was all years before Zim first came out. I think a lot of the original AS lineup Sealab/Brak/Birdman/ATHF came out a little before the AS branding started too. So maybe Nick wasn't meaning to compete with AS, just with CN's emerging late night strategy. Way back then all they did was play Mr. Ed and I Dream of Genie. Which were way better than the George Lopez Show so seriously what the hell Nick? IRQ fucked around with this message at Jun 21, 2010 around 23:43 |

Also the island Finn was standing on after freaking out on Step 3 seemed to be made of old tanks and jets and stuff, so it's a straight up WW3 style post-apocalyptia too. In other news, what the gently caress was Finn wearing as pajamas? Does he sleep in an orange mummy-bag under a pile of pelts every night? That's both adorable and badass at the same time.
