This question has been bugging me a little, but what sort of dog is Jake? I thought he was a bulldog but then I read somewhere that he's a pug.

Is next week's AT episode that people talked about on the previous page still on the CN website? I checked here but couldn't find it, though I may just suck at navigating that site.

ONE YEAR LATER posted:I don't really think Regular Show is that funny, it's not bad but I never really laughed out loud at all during the third episode. I can see how someone else could like it, but right now I'm pretty neutral towards it. Same. I only watched the third episode but didn't find it interesting. In my opinion the only thing it has in common with Adventure Time is that they're both animated.

The back of Jake's viola has 'toots' written on it. Also, what does Jake say just before he changes back into himself? "And _____ is radical, man, I don't care what anyone says!" Chumly fucked around with this message at Sep 28, 2010 around 18:59 |

Oh yeah, Finn had commented earlier about Jake sniffing poop. I had forgotten about that, thanks.

Yeah, man, and next season will be all about People's War! I thought the previous episode with Billy and Boom Boom Mountain were the weakest of the season. The first didn't really go anywhere in my opinion and with Boom Boom it became pretty obvious about halfway through that it would all just end up with a huge Rube Goldberg machine. With the finale I was actually for a moment a little worried that Jake might really have been going around as the Gut Grinder somehow. When that was ruled out I kind of wondered if maybe the Gut Grinder would end up being some evil magical dog who was somehow related to Jake.

That link Luchadores posted is the first I've ever heard of it, and I'm not saying that the people on the show didn't intend to reference it but after looking at that link I just don't see it. Nobody's complaining about characters like Jake being able to change their shape! The criticism was of the animation, specifically things like their facial expressions looking like something from badly-drawn fan art.

I doubt anyone is complaining about how Jake moves. It's things like his facial expressions and jowls that are raising eyebrows.

Gonna post some examples of Jake that I thought were particularly inconsistent with how he's normally drawn.![]() Click here for the full 640x480 image. ![]() Click here for the full 640x480 image. Moynihan isn't good at drawing Jake from the side. Whenever he's seen from the side or slightly from the back in this episode his lips and teeth always jut out like this. ![]() Click here for the full 640x480 image. These last three are just terrible. ![]() Click here for the full 640x480 image. Those loving hands! ![]() Click here for the full 640x480 image. I get that this is how Moynihan often draws characters' eyes and I do like how he does that in his own material (Forming is pretty neat) but here it's really out of place. ![]() Click here for the full 640x480 image.

I gotta say I don't think this episode had that much content story-wise, kind of boring even. For one they could have had some sort of explanation for why the pigs were good at the beginning and then suddenly evil, definitely could have fleshed out the plot a lot more. This episode really just had some .gif potential but little else.

Except it was never shown that they were crafty? Maybe I missed it, perhaps you could give some examples of their incredible craftiness. Cute, adorable piglets --> ??? --> Evil (actually just mischievous) piglets Zuh? What happened there?

Brass Bucket posted:Mr. Fowl's post wasn't answering how they were defeated. He's telling you to stop thinking about it so hard because it's a children's show where wacky poo poo happens for no reason all the time. Children's shows where wacky poo poo happens should still strive to not have plot holes. How is the viewer supposed to accept that the pigs were evil when the show never even tries to explain how it was them all along? Making up our own reasons like: ChairMaster posted:Man they were just acting like good guys so they wouldn't get immediately killed while they were young, that's all. ... just doesn't cut it. Is "exposition" the story-telling element I'm thinking of? I'm not very familiar with such terms. Anyway, pointing out weaknesses in the story isn't over thinking it, an example of over thinking would be the posts about the village of little house people from an earlier episode being a metaphor for the US housing market (and yes, I know that poster wasn't being serious). Not saying it's a horrible episode, just that the story was weak.

Oh? The pigs never had any dialog so they can't tell us, and Finn and Jake never say so either. Why did the pigs wait for Finn and Jake to fall asleep to show their true nature when they could have attacked them with the magic wands at any time? And it wasn't until after they had snuck off that the final bean with the ice cream sprouted so Finn and Jake would have been completely defenseless had they made their move earlier. See, if they had been evil all this time then they had no reason to be hiding it from Finn and Jake, so I can't accept that as a valid explanation.

Coolio's point about the wands' role brings up another question. Even after the pigs had been revealed as evil it seemed like they were only ever shown as being able to wreak havok with the wands, makes me wonder how much mischief they could have gotten up to without them. The Fresh Prince posted:Jesus Christ its a kid show. The pigs weren't visibly evil earlier because they are just that smart or some stupid poo poo like that. Do you really need to hash this out to properly enjoy watching a kids show? Maybe you shouldn't be watching kid shows. HTH Saying it's just a kids show is a pretty lame cop out. You yourself don't even know what the show's explanation is and I guess you don't care. That's fine, of course, but I do which is why I'm saying this episode wasn't so good story-wise. Bad Bromance posted:If you really want to get into this, imagine for a moment that Finn and Jake are the UN and the pigs are Israel... Okay, well the wands are obviously military hardware provided to Israel by the United States, but then what is the ice cream? UN Security Council resolutions? You might be on to something here...

If that is a pedobear reference then it's kind of a lovely thing of them to do considering a lot of kids watch the show. vvv Yeah, I am glad that at least it's only briefly seen in the background, so most probably won't see it. Chumly fucked around with this message at Mar 21, 2011 around 06:11 |
