A little backstory posted:Has anyone here gone from Guard to RA? How stupid am I for considering this? Pretty loving dumb. You'd lose rank and hate yourself the whole time. Do your time, get your school money, get out. If you still want to do it, then good loving luck. I've only ever seen it once in 2005 when they were still hurting for bodies. It happened less often than enlisted people going to OCS in my experience. You may have better luck if you switch branches, but even then it's a crapshoot.

Yeah, most tabs for EMS have either EMT-B or Paramedic, never saw one for just Ambulance. A patch show near a military base would be able to do one no problem though.\ edit: I love the Phantom F4 Spook stuff This is a great read- http://www.8tfw.com/pages/spook.htm Nostalgia4Butts fucked around with this message at 03:27 on Jan 3, 2014 |

You graduated Basic or AIT it sounds like, and counting on your time in grade? Easiest way to find out is wait for your next LES and see what your rank is. Wear the according rank.

McSpatula posted:Wait, does basic/ait time count for tis/tig? For some reason, I don't recall that being correct. Are you Active/Reserve/Guard? Because iirc Guard/Reserve starts the moment you take your oath, Active starts the day you ship out. I had delayed entry so I had 8 months of TIS when I shipped out for Basic as Guard.

From what I can gather, Dude and roommate are both <E4 and roommate is going to bang an E6 who loves the D, and now he's caught feeling like something has to be done because of fraternization and stuff. All I can say is this: Is anyone in any physical harm? If so say something. If not then stay the gently caress out as much as possible. It will not end well, and you'd do best to keep the gently caress away from it. Nostalgia4Butts fucked around with this message at 07:25 on Mar 21, 2014 |

Sorry I missed that you are both women, I didn't catch that. Ok, yeah- talk to the roommate, but expect nothing to change. It will blow up, and messily too. If it were me, I'd stay the hell away and do what I can to remove myself from the situation as much as possible, and prepare for the shitstorm. If you need to do something, then go up the chain of command. Talk to your first line, but poo poo will get hosed for the people involved, so prepare yourself for that. These situations never end well. Ever. Good luck.

zombie303 posted:We could use our own optics and poo poo, but not our own weapons. A bunch of our dudes bought M4 bottom receivers since we were issued M16s so they could feel cool when they walked up to go pull dfac guard duty or whatever (anyone who actually did convoys/evacs/went outside the wire didn't). No one actually bought optics because they'd be stolen the second they turned their back. We were national guard though, so idk how the real army works in terms of that

50 Foot Ant posted:Anyone care to look up MOS numbers for X-Ray Technician (68P) for like promotion points, strength levels, and all that good poo poo. Basically from what I've heard, the Army certification for X-Ray tech does not transition over to civilian side at all, but they will pay once for you to test for civilian proficiency, which is probably worth promotion points, and maybe get her a job somewhere as long as there isn't a community college spitting out 25 more X-Ray techs a year within a 50 mile radius of anyone hiring. Here's the thing: She will be attached to a CSH unit. An X-Ray tech does not have anything that brown-nosers want or need. I think out of the 120+ CSH unit I was attached to in Iraq, there were 3 X-Ray people. 1 NCO, 2 E-4's. Their life was spent hiding in their hidey-hole so they didn't get tasked out to go pull DFAC guard duty or police call. It's not a bad gig to be in, if you're looking to just be somewhere for a few years. I don't know how it works in peacetime, just while deployed, though.
