Double posting - The Cabelas in Phoenix has Henry .22 lever actions for like $230. They worth it at that price, or should I wait for a Marlin lever .22?

For a SIG in that apparent condition, I wouldn't go over $450, just based on what I would spend on it myself if I was in the market. At $400 and below, it becomes a "good deal."

Henry makes a great little gun for the price. But when you compare one to a Browning, Marlin, or Winchester the quality difference is pretty stark. If you can wait I suggest it, you will be happier in the long run. Also if you haven't had a chance to look at them yet I highly suggest pawing over a BLR and a Winchester 9422.

I'm quite happy with the gun, especially for what I paid for it, but if you find a good price on a BLR or something, I'd buy that instead. The Henry is GREAT for what it is: a lower cost lever action .22 that sacrifices little in function to meet its budget price tag. oh also mine has beautiful wood

I'm specifically looking at the Lyman 1200 pro Tumbler For 42.99, and the RCBS Chargemaster Dispenser and Scale for 279.95. The chargemaster is pretty awesome, and I haven't used the Lyman tumblers, but it's a good price and probably won't break. The case separator makes things super easy. Get it. It's still a better deal than the FA tumbler/separator set ($70 off the same site).

Carbohydrates posted:That said, the receiver cover is thin aluminum (not a mechanical problem but it feels cheap) and the metal finish is pretty unimpressive. I'm thinking about buying a henry myself. Apparently, the receiver and receiver cover are made of zamak. There is not a ton of information about how durable the rifle is, but at least one user on rimfirecentral claims to have shot thousands of rounds through his henry: 40,000 rounds through an H001 A review/ tips/ and 100K rounds

Since there are a few German folks here, as well as some that are entrenched in Germany at the moment, in the GBS thread about identifying weird looking stuff in Google Earth images, this came up. The person was curious about the white ring, and in turn I am too. I figure there are people here that may know that aren't going to wander into the GBS thread. There's a line drawn over it by Google that indicates a road running through it, but going in closer makes it seem like the road is grown over in some spots and disused, though that could just be a result of it being a satellite image. The right hand side looks to be raised up, too, judging by the shadow, and seems like an old wall or something. Anyone got any ideas? http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...011244&t=h&z=17

Stone sheep pens are everywhere over in the Old Country.

Looks like a stone wall. Safe place to keep farm animals overnight? Would explain the "road" as well: animal track for goats or sheep or something. edit: :fistshake:

I had a vague idea it might be something like that, but the road struck me as being fairly modern and why would anyone build a road through a sheep pen? But I guess I have no real basis to say it's really anything but an old dirt road some farmer used to drive a wagon down to feed the sheep or whatever might have been in there. I think you dudes are right. Edit: Especially after taking another look and comparing it to the paved road up above, it's pretty clearly a lot narrower and not really paved, so it must be an old dirt trail.

Plus, god only knows how old that pen is. If you look around the countryside out here it's not too hard to find small stone walls or even the remnants of buildings that date back to the early modern or medieval period, and if you really know where to look Roman poo poo is sitting around here and there. As long as no one ever came along and tore the wall down, morterless, stacked rock walls tend to stay where they're put. gently caress, if anything vegitation and dirt getting caught up in them just makes them sturdier. There's a lot of hedgerows out here that have some early medieval field boundary wall down in the middle of their base somewhere.

I detail stripped my Taurus 1911 for the first time and discovered that it has a Series 80 style firing pin safety, which was really fun reassembling I also found out that my 1911 has a trigger that's adjustable for overtravel, which was a nice little surprise.

In Washington State, what are the laws regulated rifles + motorcycles. Like, could you strap an unloaded encased rifle to your back and drive on the freeway to the gun range? For that matter, besides strapping it to your back, what would be a way to carry a rifle on a motorcycle? Hoping that indeed there is a much better method than strapping it to your back.
