ZebraBlade posted:Video Cameras I just picked up a VIO POV 1.5 and am loving it. It costs a bit more than the Contour1080 and the video quality isn't as good, but it is VERY nice having the screen on the head unit to see what I see before I start recording. That and something crazy like 350 minutes of video on an 8gb sd card and I'm not all that worried about the shortfalls. Oh and it is sturdy as gently caress and waterproof. And it mounts VERY easily to a baseball cap. With (included) magnets. And the sound quality is REALLY drat good. And once you've got it set up, there's only like two buttons. Record (on/off) and play for playback. And there's a two button remote if that's your thing. And you pull the files off and they're already AVIs and it shows up as a usb hard drive device on your pc. http://www.youtube.com/user/djlunchboxx I've just been tossing videos up there as I take them, mainly to get an idea of how it is pointing and to make sure I can see what I want to see (myself plus what I am shooting at). I'm in the same boat as you, I got this so I could see what I was doing wrong and what I need to improve on, and so far it has done wonders in that department. Because really, what the hell AM I doing with my support hand thumb at the end of some of those strings of fire? Lunchboxx fucked around with this message at Sep 20, 2010 around 23:14 |

charliebravo77 posted:There's a semi-local range here that used to be like $800 to join and $400 a year. They've recently dropped their fees I just learned, to $280 initiation and $280 a year. I'm seriously considering it too, since they've got a 600yd range and a bunch of other facilities. What range? Details, STAT!

charliebravo77 posted:Aurora Sportsmans Club Wow, that actually looks both really nice and very reasonable as far as price and rules and etc. Compared to some of the other private clubs in the area, at least. Let me know how that meeting goes, despite the drive I would be interested in something like this. It is much cheaper than some (Northbrook) and the size and condition of the facilities look to be much nicer than the rest.

Numlock posted:Anybody have much experience shooting Atlanta Arms reloads? It advertises itself as being very high quality. Googling around quickly though shows a mix of people singing it's praises or complaining about light loads not fully cycling in their pistols. Until I start handloading my own ammo, Atlanta Arms is my primary source of 40 long. My gun is picky about ammo and is MUCH more reliable with long loads. Since October I have gone through about 3,000 rounds of their reloads and have nothing negative to say about them. Plus it's pretty cool to make a 15 second phone call consisting of no more than two sentences to Danny and have 1,000 rounds show up on my doorstep two days later.

Ninja Rope posted:Back on M1A's, is there a non-ridiculous way to mount a scope to an M1A? The SOCOM2 has a possibly useful rail, but I don't really want a SOCOM2. There's the forward rail on the Scout model, but that limits me to LER scopes or a red dot. ARMS makes a mount that attaches to the receiver, but I hear it's not good. Trijicon makes a mount but they want $500 for it. Smith Enterprise makes one that looks alright, but the installation instructions seem to require some significant tools to get it installed. Any suggestions on the best route to take? I've got this one from Fulton Armory. I can't say I'm an expert on the subject, but it works well enough for me.

Ninja Rope posted:How's it mount? The Smith Enterprise installation instructions involve disassembly and a "gauge block set" and says it must be done by a "qualified US Military Armorer". Three point with large set screws and a nut on the side. ![]() There's the nut, screws right into the receiver. My other rifle has a hole there, so I'm guessing you wouldn't need any tools. One set screw sits at 10 o'clock from that, and is vertical touching the receiver. The other set screw is at a 45 degree angle going against the receiver at the rightmost part of the scope mount in this picture. ![]() The other side, for posterity. Am I correct in this assessment, or will I be warned of blue helmets at every chance? The Enos forums certainly aren't terrible, and there is a treasure trove of good info there if you're willing to dig through it. The signal to noise ratio is pretty lovely and you'll find a lot of POST PICS OF UR BLASTER and similarly useless post types, but there's really no better place that has such a high concentration of competative shooters willing to share info. I make it a point to check it out two or three times a week.

The closest I've found are Dunham's, which are closer to tennis shoes than proper boots. Shitgoddamn... I thought I had a hard time with my 14EEE boots. Corcoran original jump boots are awesome, and work great for me but don't quite meet both of these size requests. And now I'm curious, if either of you guys find what you're looking for, post up in here. I'm always on the lookout for nice boots that will hold up. I've had my Corcorans for almost five years now, and while they're rough around the edges, they're still holding up.
