If you're looking for a cheap red dot the Bushnell will be fine. We sell them and no one complains. They're miles ahead of the crap Chinese red dots. The Aimpoint will have better glass, finer dot settings and be of generally better build quality.

It's for trap, so birdshot. Some of my friends complain the recoil is too much and can only fire a few shots before giving up, I was hoping offering some reduced power loads might encourage them to shoot more, but I'm sure they'd be annoyed if the gun failed to cycle all the time. I guess I can grab a few boxes and try them out.

Your friends are weak.

That being said the Winchester Ranger reduced recoil slugs and Fiocchi reduced recoil slugs I have used have been good. There is a noticeable difference but you're still shooting a 12 gauge shotgun.

I got to fondle (but not shoot) a CZ 75 SP-01. I liked it. A lot. It was almost obscene.

So, can someone here tell me just how the SP-01 shadow Phantom compares? I tend to be biased towards all-metal frames for no real reason other than aesthetics (I like the feel of a heavy pistol). Is there anything that would make the Shadow Phantom stand out over the SP-01?

edit for I don't know what da gently caress. I'm now aware that the polymer version is the Phantom, and I'm aware that it is universally reviled.

Me and a bunch of Goons are going to Las Vegas for the weekend for a bachelor party. We're looking to shoot some automatics at a range somewhere, as we're from Canada where such things are forbidden.

I looked at a couple of places online, and I was hoping to get some feedback on where some good places are to go to do that sort of thing.

The one place that stood out to me was The Gun Store. They had some packages that seemed alright, and some bachelor party pack that could work, as that's what we're there for.

We're flying in Friday afternoon, and leaving on Sunday evening, and we're staying on the strip. We're travelling by Taxi for the most part, so a trip to a wayward place out in the deep desert probably isn't in the cards.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Yo guys this is my Brother so any help would be appreciated.

Are there other stores than the Gun Store which would rent MGs? They're a bunch of mostly non-gun guys who want to shoot some MGs so if they're clapped out it wouldn't really be a concern as long as they go bang.

Really, you just need to expose the lead core, at least with full sized rifle calibers.

An old poacher's trick during the depression was to take FMJ, pull the bullet, and re-seat it backwards in the case. People have done the same thing more recently and done wetpack tests with them and yes, they fire, are about as accurate as the base round at your average iron sights poaching distances (100-300 yards), and expand pretty reliably in a manner similar to what you see out of commercial open-cored hunting rounds.

RE: steel cased for the military, as others have said brass IS better than steel, all things considered. That said, tons of countries all over the world have used steel cases since basically forever. The Germans used steel cases through most of WW1 and WW2, and most of the eastern bloc used steel cases exclusively from 1900 through now.

Basically the US military is a rich military in a rich country that has no realistic problems getting the raw materials it needs. We have no real shortages of strategic materials except some fairly exotic non-gun related stuff (rare earths, etc). We shoot brass because we don't need to save it for anything else, and any savings we would make in that department would be drat near negligible as a portion of our total military budget.

All the ww2 german surplus 8mm I have seen was brass cased.

Swiss Arms. PE90 mags. I've also seen it mentioned by foreign dudes regarding their SIG service rifle mags, so whoever makes theirs, too, I guess.

Ive seen a G36 mag (like, an actual G36) and a SIG 551 magazine break in person. Both guns belonged to two different manufacturers up here, one of whom is now retired.

I only have one SIG mag and is seems pretty sturdy (it is a 5 rounder though) and have handled a bunch of the 20 and 30 rounders which seem to be OK too. The aftermarket ones seem flimsy though.

The 30rnd SIG mag dropped in winter, full of ammo, onto hard ground/gravel, from hand height. It cracked along the feed lips and spine. I don't think that's a good thing. It was a magazine as would be issued with the automatic 551 it was with.

The 30rnd HK G36 mag dropped onto concrete in spring and was, I think, half-empty. Dude took it out to check why the gun stopped firing in automatic (lovely ammo I think?) and dropped it from his goofy carnival-worker midget hands. It cracked more than the SIG mag, from the baseplate at the spine and around, up the side, probably 3" or more. The baseplate fell off and would not stay on under pressure after that.

I think Flanker broke some HK pistol mags but that's only tangentially related for the sake of saying I distrust all polymer mags which are not Glock and I am inclined to trust PMAGs because Magpul let me stand on them, though I admit that they advise you not to store them without the cap and that is a detraction.
