I just picked up a new rescue last week. The previous jackassesowners were a bit... unfriendly towards him. Animal rescue found him pinned between the refrigerator and a wall with two broken legs. OK, mayyyyyyyyybe he just got stuck there playing. No, no they'd put a pile of food on the floor by him and a half loving BROKEN BEER BOTTLE with water in it to sustain him in that place for whatever unholy reason. For roughly two weeks. Dude got left behind the fridge with two broken legs for about 2 weeks.

He still has traumatic responses to really loud noises (like, he'll just shut down emotionally and physically if anyone yells), but otherwise you'd have no idea of his history. Really taking it like a champ. He's crashed on my bed while I do my homework and post here.



I named him Champ, because guy's my hero. Wish I was that resilient.

What do you know, I have a dog named Loki also. She's a rat terrier, and despite her gender Loki is a perfect name for her (pretty sure Loki disguised himself as a woman to trick Thor or Odin once or twice anyway though so whatever). If she wants to sit where the other, much bigger dog is sitting, she'll run to the door and bark. When the big dog follows suit, she'll run back to the couch and sit there looking all smug.
