I haven't finished the series (Most of the way through Season 5). The only thing I skipped throughout the whole series wasn't an episode. It was in S-1 or 2 when Ivonava did some embarrassing hookie dance so she didn't have to gently caress some Ambassador. Beyond Cringe worthy. Other than that I can now see why this series was amazing and I feel bad for not giving it a chance all those many years ago.

Hard Clumping posted:Happy to see this thread risen from the dead, I love reading discussion about this show. Soul Hunter was brought up in the Trek thread, but I didn't think it was all that bad. It had a neat little ending. I hear there's a movie with Martin Sheen about Soul Hunters that should be feared. I can't wait to see it.

mllaneza posted:So "And the Rock Cried Out..." then ? Fantastic episode. Which season was that? I was thinking more along the lines of Londo being cool with J'karr by the end of the series and helping him a bunch. Though I haven't finished season 5 so I'm not sure if he fucks that up too. So far it doesn't look like it.

Sorry, fellas, new to the franchise. I've also been painting a lot while watching, so I'm ususally looking away while the title shows. I guessed Londo's spelling so give me credit there.

So I convince myself that Lyta Alexander is played by the same woman who is the girlfriend in Return of the Living Dead 2 and Killer Clowns from Outer Space. Upon being proved wrong by IMDB I immediately look into the woman who plays Delenn (Mira Furlan) and promptly Also, am I wrong that during the early season customs agent scenes that some 90s comedians show up and throw something out from their act while complaining about their crap being searched? I suspected it and nearly got confirmation when Penn and Teller pretty much got their own subplot.

I'm just glad they didn't say "The red sands of Mars...". Also, pretty much everything Londo says makes me smile, even though overall I don't think I'm supposed to really like him.

Just saw the last episode of B5. It's as if the last three episodes could have been finales. THAT'S how you wrap up a series. Is Crusade worth a shot?

I definitely got choked up now that I think about it. drat. This reminds me, did B5 have ANY continuity problems? I think I remember G'kar had an eyepatch when he choked Londo to death in the future but he could have had it again for any number of reasons.

mllaneza posted:Then again, there was that scene in a bunker on some doomed colony, civilians and families hiding out and one guy gets up, leaves his crying wife and goes out to buy them a few more minutes. That sure looked like "everybody on this rock is gonna die" to me. And it certainly means Minbari ground troops were deployed, the warrior caste always did like to get up close and personal. I'm going into super speculative mode here. They probably still didn't kill the civvies even though the civilians acted like they would. If a giant army was attacking your planet, wouldn't you act like they were going to kill everyone especially if they came out of nowhere like the Minbari did.

micnato posted:I need some words of encouragement. I hear season 3 is amazing, and I am excited about 5-season story arcs and whatnot, but I'm halfway through season 1 and it just feels like work. I feel like I should like this show, and I really want to, but I don't care about any of the characters and the acting is SO loving BAD. I can't wait for Sheridan to go die or whatever happens to him. Do I need to just face the possibility that this show is not for me? Should I just skip ahead and watch a few season 3 episodes and see what I think? Season 1 was a little much for me as well, but it grew on me especially in the latter half. Sinclair (who I assume you meant. It doesn't help that they both have eight letter names that start with S) really grew on me and I was shocked when he high tailed it. You'll love Sheridan a lot more I think. I remember liking him from the first episode he was in. I think it might be time for me to give the series my first Re-watch. I think I might skip the Pilot this time around.

Daimo: No, I meant the models of the ships, so we're on the same page. A great example of a wonderful model shot is when you first see the Sulaco go by the camera. Though it looks like a shotgun in space, it has parts to it that is obviously supposed to make it look like a large slow lumbering space ship. Maybe I'm too old school but physical models have always looked better to me than a lot of CG nowadays.
