 WAAAAR ain't dead, fool!-Trundles, President of Goon Squig Come roll (or re-roll) on Badlands destruction with Goon Squig, the same crew from that other horrible server! BUT WAIT, this one has people on it this time! Open Realm vs Realm combat is extremely active, with action across all tiers of content (even t3). A 10 minute walk from your newbie area will put you in a Tier 1 open RvR area that is constantly packed with huge 120 player battles. T2 and up are just as active with keeps being seiged and actual real live players defending. Kick a dwarf player in the nuts and level up! It's really easy to level exclusively on PvP, and our little crew of orcs, goblins and some sort of elf have been chewing through scenarios (battlegrounds basicly) like some sort of crazy chewing machine. oRVR action is really fun and includes: smashing keep doors, seige rams, catapults, ballistas, shooting a dumb elf archmage off of a keep ledge, breaking through a keep door and smashing everyone inside and then taking that poo poo for yourself with all the loot and exp that goes with it! Chiming in to say that if you keep rolling destro on any server it will eventually kill the game since even in badlands destro has a tighter grip in just about every tier. Eventually leaving all servers into desolated shells like volkmar

Alright I'm going to step up as GUILD OFFICER (Banelomein in game) to fill out this post. You got yourself 2 teams. All classes fall into 4 categories. Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Tank, Support. They appear left-to-right respectively. Dark Elves  From Left to Right is: Witch Elf, Sorceress, Blackguard, Disciple of Khaine. These are female avatars, though only Witch Elf is forced to be a female. Witch Elf is your melee DPS of the Dark Elves. These are your light armor, dual dagger, backstabbin', poison usin' rogue class of DE. Path of Carnage The Path of Carnage focuses primarily on the single target, high DPS abilities of the Witch Elf, while adding several multi-target abilities if one chooses to spend the points on them Path of Suffering The Path of Suffering focuses on the Witch Elf's poisons and kisses, which are assorted Damage over Time and debuff abilities. These include debuffs that slow enemies, drain their action points, reduce their wounds and many more, with most also including a DoT effect in addition to this Path of Treachery The Path of Treachery focuses heavily on the Witch Elf's stealth and subtlety. It enhances her abilities that provide bonuses when attacking an opponent from behind or the side and adds new abilities to complement these Sorcerer Its a sorcerer. Ranged DPS and as straightforward as it sounds. Come on. Path of Agony Is single target DPS, with a healthy blend of quick and slow spells Path of Calamity is DoT's and Debuffs, generally fast cast speed so you can chew threw a group. Path of Detruction is your high damage, slow casting AoE tree. Black Guard its a tank! The DE tank is made for resisting magic in particular, and can use 2 handed weapons for some nice melee AoE effects Path of Malice makes use of Hatred, which is the Warhammer word for aggro. This is your attention-holding tree. Uses a 2 handed halbred/glaive thing Path of Loathing Is your tank tree. Made to never die, this tree uses sword/shield Path of Anguishis your anti-magic tanking. A means to tank beyond high AC and shields, if you will. Disciple of Khaine is the big-dick warrior priest of Warhammz. You DPS and you heal, with a healthy mix of DoT/Debuff skills too. You really arn't a straightforward healer, but you're one of the only classes that can heal -and- dps, and the HoT skills make you a formidable tank at times too. Path of Dark Rites is the healing tree. Path of Torture is the straightforward DPS tree. This tree focuses on high raw DPS and snare skills Path of Sacrafice is your DoT/Debuff tree while also being a bit of a support tree. Note: DoK's can use 2 swords or a sword + chalice. A chalice is a relic that, in effect, makes you recharge the warhamemr equivilant of Mana. With 2 swords, you only recharge by hitting enemies. With a chalice, you gain a +(number) recharge per second. Chaos  LEft to Right is Chosen, Marauder, Magus, and Zealot. Chosen must be male. Marauder is your melee DPS. You get Mutations, which alter your basic attack fundamentals. Path of Brutality Focuses on a Mutation that makes you higher straightforward DPS, but mostly single target Path of Savagery focuses on a Mutation that makes you able to snare and debuff. More of a DoT based DPS tree Path of Monstrosity focuses on a Mutation that gives you some defensive abilities and is made for AoE melee damage, as all of your attacks will be able to hit multiple targets, including your basic autoattack. Magus is the Chaos ranged DPS. You have summons, but arn't really a pet class. Your summons basically act like turrets. Path of Havoc is long range single-target DPS, uses the Pink Horror summon Path of Changing Faster casts, medium range. This is sort of an all purpose tree, made to be 'adaptable to change'. Uses the Flamer summon. Path of Daemonology High DPS, AoE and short range. Magus get a 'Disc' which is to say they fly around on a little faster-than-average mount thing. Your attacks are based off of this, as well as a Blue Horror summon. Chosen Tank! Physical damage tank, specifically, with some aura buffs. This class is seriously overplayed right now so be prepared to be called a noob if you roll one Path of Dread this is the DPS tree for the Chosen, using a 2 handed sword in lieu of a shield. Path of Corruption is your primary tank and counter-attack tree. Uses a sword+shield Path of Discord uses buffs and some ranged attacks. Is more an off-tank tree. Zealot is the Chosen support. You're mostly heals, but get some nice ranged DPS skills. Path of Alchemy is your single-target spells, be they DPS or huge heals. Long cast times and single targets mean huge instant heals/damage, with little in the way of HoT/DoT or de/buffs. Path of Witchcraft this is the HoT/DoT tree. Still mostly single target, but most are either short or instant cast, designed to lay down coverage like any other DoT tree Path of Dark Rites Is the AoE tree. Some are party based, some are based on a certain radius from your character. Greenskins yes. Greenskins. Not orcs, not orks, greenskins. Got that, copyright lawyers?  Left to right is Choppa, Squig Herder, Black Orc, and Shaman Choppa is your DPS king. They have Berserk, which is a passive ability that increases your abilities based on how much bloodshed you cause. Building momentum of asskick. Path of 'Da Savage really makes use of the Berserk ability. Is somewhat single target, but is mostly based off a continuing momentum of battle, and not stopping your onslaught just because you cleaved off another head. Path of 'Da Wrecka is your AoE melee tree. Path of 'Da Hitta uses his built up rage for powerful single attacks, and doesn't rely on momentum to carry on battle so much as one-time head crushings. Squig Herder is the ranged DPS, and effectively what most people would call a Ranger. You use a bow, and rely heavily on your pet (Squig) Path of Big Shootin This is your long range tree that gives your pet aggro-holding abilities. Path of Quick ShootinGoblins do one thing extremely well and that's to RUN AWAY! A master of this path learns to shoot and run as most of the abilities are either instant cast or continue to charge while moving. Path of Stabbin' This is the melee tree, using a spear. You get some pet abilities that make you much more suitable to be a melee dps with this tree. Black Orc is the greenskin tank. You use combos to chain powerful attacks as a Black Orc Path of 'Da Brawler is the DPS tree. You use a 2 handed weapon instead of a sword+shield. Path of 'Da Toughest is the straight tank tree. You use a shield, and are designed to soak up all the damage you can Path of 'Da Boss is the black sheep tree and not many know how to use it correctly. This is a tree based on buffing your allies. Shaman is the greenskin support. You're a pretty equal mix of buffs, heals, and dps abilities Path of Mork Mork is the greenskin god of Healing, so..healing spells. Path of Gork is the DPS tree, using direct spells and DoT's Path of 'Da Green is the buff tree, but is sorta the catchall tree for what doesn't fall under Mork and Gork. Order are lame and should be mocked and stabbed to death. If you wanna play as one of those goodie two shoes you clearly arn't cut out to be a Goon Squig. However, Dark elves- > High Elves. Chaos -> Empire. Greenskins -> Dwarfs. switching to Badlands means that the server is hella populated, and as a goon said, Destro kicks rear end on Badlands. You'll pretty much nonstop Scenario (the big RvR thing) all through tier 1 and 2, slows down a bit in tier 3, then endgame galore in tier 4. By nonstop, I mean that for levels 1-21 I stayed in the main city and had a very hard time being able to keep my gear up-to-level between scenario pops. Its awesome, I promise. When my Account gets Migrated to the Mythic servers (tomorrow hopefully) and I am able to do so, I may be tempted to roll on Badlands destro even though all my chars are Order. I always fancied a Black Ork, but their class mechanic REALLY puts me off. I remember there was a mod that rotated your active bar based on your plan, but I don't fancy managing 3x the action bars of a regular class. This seems like something nerfbuttons would be good for, but I'm not too sure. What's the best way to manage a BO's mechanic without destroying your wrists?

I've never tried nerfbuttons but I'm pretty sure all the bar switching would confuse me. The mechanic is pretty fun compared to my r40/40 Blackguard.

Glad to see a new thread for this game. I played the closed beta back when I had high hopes for this game, and quit soon after launch due to bugs, framerate, and balancing issues. Just started with Goon Squig today as Todoki on Badlands and am mighty impressed with the progress they've made with Warhammer - framerate is smooth, no CTD or graphical issues, and balancing is just explained away as YOURE JUST NOT DOING IT RIGHT but w/e. This is def. the best offering of all the recent MMOS (Perpetuum = poo poo, Aion = poo poo) so there's no reason not to at least try the trial if you're slightly interested.

Just cleansed my Order characters, and am rolling with the cool kids. I can never make up my mind what to roll, but I think I will go with either Blackguard, Sorceror, or Disciple of Khaine. Downloading this now. My only mmo experience comes from wow and lately have found it not very entertaining with its 10 minute pvp queues and lack of time for raiding. So did they ever give the Magus class some love and turn them into something other than Chaotic Rift bots? I always loved the ideas behind those guys (even the stationary summons, which was a cause of complaint for drat near everyone else at the time), but the actual execution was lacking.

Last I heard, Maguses were pretty terrible but I could be wrong. I love the idea of the final ability in one of their trees is to summon a Firewyrm of Tzeentch, that sounds awesome but getting there might be annoying. Who all in Goon Squig can invite? I would love to add my emo elf Blackguard to the ranks, but nobody seemed to be on when I was.

Personally I've only applied the Squares add-on, which is identical to Grid in WoW. Otherwise the default ui interface is workable enough that I've never really had a complaint, but I've not investigated the possibilities.

I very recently subbed to this too, and as the goons were Order/Badlands I've got a slayer there. Now we are moving to destro, what is the best option for me? Transfer the character to another sever, delete him or not bother playing with evil goons? I should wait for the rush to die down and see where we are at, but I just love playing so much..

If you want to do wholly absurd, mind numbing AoE melee dps then go Choppa and be pleased. Character transfers are a weird thing. If you're level 10 or below or (other highly specific circumstances) then you can transfer for free. Otherwise, it'll cost ya, like transferring a character in WoW. That being said, several of Goon Squig's higher ranks did paid transfers, and we moved most of our guild vault's valuables. We powerlevel in lotd whenever we can, and with the incredibly frequent scenario pops leveling up shouldn't be an issue. I rolled a new badlands character a few days ago and it is already t3 with considerably better gear than my t3 DoK on Volk had, due to being constantly at-level in RR instead of lagging severely behind like I was in Volk. Or if you want to roll something new theres a handy guide to the Destro professions. As far as Goon Squig goes, we could probably use anything at this point. Our core players fill out the roles nicely to where any new profession can easily work into the group, but healers are always good. If you all so intent to  then by all means, lets all roll destro and finish the server off. Just transfer your order characters to another server (IronRock) and bring your destro characters to badlands. After that when badlands is hosed then delete your order characters in IronRock and transfer you destro there. Then once that is hosed then...? Hopefully the next big PvP MMO will be out.

As it is right now, most will have a blast in t1 and t2, then t3 starts to look more like PvE with some random PvP resistance and by the time you get to t4 there will be little to no opposition. It really is a cycle like many of the old timers here would say, it all ends when people stop having fun and that usually happens because you just dont have anyone left to play against.

What is up with this game now, so the EU servers have all been rolled into the Mythic servers, does that mean US and EU is joined or still seperate? And why am I unable to log into my account in any way? I tried name/name_eur and requested and changed my password a few times but all I get is invalid account name or password ad nauseum. Lastly, if I fail to get my old account back, will creating a trial using the link in the OP put me on US or EU servers based on my location?

Bought this game when it came out but I didn't last more than a week. Good to hear things are improving, so I might just have to re-download this when I get home and try it again. I heard a lot of complaining that it's really hard for a newplayer to get up to speed. The original post makes it sound like this is not an issue any more. True? Sounds like a lot of fun.

If you are a tank, got a guild tabard thing that has thorn III on it and exp III, it will take like half an hour per level on vultures e-Raising your renown though is harder, specially when there aren't many people to kill in oRvR and the best way I've found to gain renown and influence is holding up a keep and defending it.
