404GoonNotFound posted:Gotta say, didn't expect Inquisitor spikes to go THAT far out the back of their heat. I thought it'd be a pair of nubs, not a wannabe Tiefling. I totally did, but I thought they came further out the front. To me, inquisitors always looked more cenobite than human. I don't think they played up the hemalurgy enough.

Kruller posted:I quite enjoyed that as well. It's almost as if Sazed had a sense of humor when he became a god. Its mostly because Spook was Lord Mistborn after the events of the Trilogy. So his goofy rear end language ended up becoming high imperial because he was running things.

Above Our Own posted:No Sanderson. Stop. Making up a million fake words does not make you a better author. Making up a few weird quirks and then basing a culture around them doesn't count as detailed world-building. Yeah cause envisioning a world where horrible magic charged hurricane force storms ravage across the entirety of the world, and extrapolating the evolutionary path of the world isn't awesome as hell.

Essentially yes. Elantris is set in the same overarching multiverse/universe as Mistborn but the magic systems have nothing to do with each other and they arent set on the same planet. Also I believe he wrote Elantris much earlier than Mistborn so the writing won't be as good.

Jorenko posted:Holy poo poo. This warrants a reread. That works very well with the character as well as steven's references to his comforting voice but I just can't not picture him as everyone's favorite analrapist.

When you can use the same metal by burning it allomantically or storing it feruchemically the powers are multiplied. The Lord Ruler could burn gold to generate health/heal himself, and could make himself sick to store health for later healing in his goldminds. So instead of just making himself sick for a while while storing his natural health (He does this too), he can burn gold at the same time to make even more health than he started with and thus get a net gain which he can easily use to heal with. So with the getting younger thing, decrepitude due to age is expressed as a decreased health which he rectifies with gold. Burning a metalmind doesn't do much of any good, just wastes whatever is stored in the metalmind. Victorkm fucked around with this message at Sep 28, 2012 around 03:05 |

Wrestler The Big Show was just name dropping Brandon Sanderson and how much he loves his books on Opie and Anthony. Also Brent Weeks but hey they can't all be winners. He said that Brandon sent him a full set of Wheel of Time autographed and all his own books Autographed.

Yeah, his magic systems don't just inform what the characters can do, they inform how his entire world developed what with the storms in Way Of Kings influencing everything from ecology to the economy, or the 3 systems in Mistborn driving the government, class system, etc.
