I've tried pretty much all of the ones already mentioend ,and Doug Loves Movies is the only one that I've gotten into. The rest are almost all painfully unfunny, Adam Carolla and Uh Yeah Dude especially. I listened to Carolla's car related podcast, I'm a regular AI poster and I don't find it entertaining at all. the Autoblog podcast and John McElroy's Autoline are much much more entertaining and they aren't even professional entertainers. Carolla is much less funny than even the average construction worker (I gather he use to be one), how he makes so much money is beyond me.

In one of the last podcast threads, forum poster King Lou introduced 2 podcasts he is involved with. the Flop House, where 3 guys watch and review bad movies. Every single episode is consitently hilarious. Doug Loves Movies, which I generally love, sometimes get boring and unfunny guests ( Ellen Page? Olivia Munn? :frogout:). The Flop House on the other hand has alwasy delivered. The other is his own, Lou reads the internet for you. Try them both.

The Greatest Movie Ever podcast is also great. Although sometimes the principle dwells on his own goony neckbeardness a little too much for comfort, and the episodes with Katherine are usually not the best because Katherine is annoying and unfunny and wouldn't be on the show if it she wasn't his sister .

Just listened now. Is there a glitch in the last ~2min? Mine seems to cut off and start at the begining.

He is seriously not funny at all. I find it hard to believe he was the most common guest for Conan unless he's easily available when someone drops out.

Out of all the comedy podcasts I've heard the only one I actually find funny is Doug Benson's, Nerdist is really interesting with some guests but he talks about himself and standup all the time. I've heard others but nothing worth hearing every week.

I feel the same way you do. Other than DLM, the favourites in this thread, Marc Maron, WTF, and the other stream of consciousness stuff just doesn't do it for me at all.

That being said, I like Who Charted and How Did This Get Made, and I learned about them from DLM. Also there isn't enough love for The Flop House.

I listened to the PA podcast a while back and it was unfunny poo poo. OTOH I feel the same way about most of the favourites in this thread so V:downs:V.

In that vein though, The Drunk Tank is surprisingly entertaining even for a casual gamer like me who doesn't own any game consoles.

Sean Gunn really played well off him. "Name any movie!"

Ellen Page seems so out of place on the show though. Doug obviously invites her on because he can but it's just weird.

His "celebrity" guests have been mostly pretty good. Ellen page is good, Elizabeth Shue was great.

Olivia Munn was a disaster though. She showed up late and was an unfunny moron. I don't understand her success, as she's not even particularly good looking.

I actually went and watched Old Dogs based on HDTGM's advice and was :stare: pretty much all the way through. Everything they said was spot on. I'll give this other one a try.

So I just found Flop House thanks to this thread too, I had no idea to even look for humor movie podcasts, which is weird because I'm a huge loving movie dork! So I have We Hate Movies and Flop House (not gonna marathon this one, just gonna pick any titles I think would be funny to hear them run with, any special episodes that were great?), any other 'let's make fun of movies' podcasts that I somehow missed?

I posted this one from the beginning of the thread.

It's not strictly "making fun" of movies, the ones he does of good movies are mostly serious content delivered in a lighthearted tone, but the episode on Bloodrayne, for example, is mostly making fun.

I was listening to one of the earlier eps of We Hate Movies when they plugged another bad movie podcast, Proudly Resents.

I've listened to 2 eps so far and its pretty good, sort of like a West Coast (yo) version of The Flop House. I'm just listening to the episode with Al Madrigal and some guy who was in some Uwe Boll movies.

Both Who Charted and How did this get made are sort of hit and miss for me, especially Who Charted because I don't know or care about a lot their guests, but the latest Who Charted with Paul Scheer really hit it out of the park. :3:

I don't like How Did This Get Made because they bring up the dumbest little points and EXAGGERATE how THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON!!!

I think it works better for some movies than others. Old Dogs was exactly as they described it and I had fun with both the movie and the podcast. Suckerpunch, on the other hand, sounded a lot better in the podcast than it actually was.

I like all the bad movie podcasts, even We Hate Movies - I like the show but I want to watch these movies too and some of the movies they do are obscure and hard to find, so maybe I'm not a very demanding consumer.

You have to be a grouch to not like How Did This Get Made. Yes it can be a bit overwrought at times compared to The Flophouse or We hate Movies, that's fine, I love all 3.

I don't get Who Charted. The basic format for every single chart they do is something like:

<Music or movie>
Howard: What is this poo poo? I've never heard of it before.
Guest I've never loving heard of: Me either/Yeah, it sure is poo poo, huh? Look at me I only listen to/watch indie stuff.

I guess I'm not the target audience since I love pop/top 40 music. I don't have a TV and rarely listen to the radio, half of the music on my ipod is stuff I heard for the first time when they covered it in Glee so it's all fresh to me. A show with just Kulap would be vastly more entertaining interesting.

I just revisited for the third time the We Hate Movies episode on Boys and Girls. It's one of the best things I've ever listened to. Such a delicious layered cake of late 1990s, pre 9/11 cultural artifacts, easily on par with The Matrix and American Pie, in the form of a hilariously inept rom-com, brilliantly dissected in minute detail. Watch the movie before listening.

I agree with the episodes 47 Reagans posted. Basically if the podcast interviews somebody actually involved in the filming of/acting in the movie being discussed, the quality improves.

The style of the presentation gets repetetive - I think the difference between HDTGM and something like WHM is that Paul Scheer & co are all actual professional actors/comedians and basically treat every episode like it was a stand alone live show in front of a different audience every night, so every single movie = HOLY poo poo THIS MOVIE IS SO LITERALLY CRAZY AAAAAH even when 1) the actual movie itself probably isn't that crazy and 2) the schtick got kind of old after the first few eps. Where as WHM or the Flophouse are just a couple of hilarious guys watching movies and the tempo sort of ebbs and flows - there's a few eps of the Flophouse where they don't really spend more than about 20 minutes talking about the movie and it's really fine because some movies are just that lovely. Well, I'm just a guy watching movies so I enjoy and relate to the WHM and Flophouse a bit more, but I appreciate where HDTGM is coming from and I bet they pick up new/unique listeners quite a bit faster.

I love WHM, it's my favourite movie podcast, I think it probably helps that most of the movies they do are either pretty obscure ones that I haven't seen, ones that I have seen but a long time ago and only vaguely remember, and/or actually really as terrible as they say it is. I recommend the Boys and Girls episode if you want a good place to start.
