It's like playing Aliens in an AvP game. You are playing the worst thing that could happen to anybody. Anything else in the game is by definition less scary than what you are playing at that moment.

Like I said, I get scared of the dark sometimes. I'd be a pretty lovely Batman

Some official box art finally. I think it looks alright though I was personally hoping for some more minimalist silhouette of Batman on the cover.

He also has blood on his face that goes up to his mask, but there's no blood on his mask; batman needs to learn how to shave a bit better. And what is he doing with his fist? He's on the top of a building and he's crouched down, who's he going to punch?

He's obviously elbowing someone who was sneaking up behind him in the face.

Makes sense, God said "Let there be light," and Batman is a creature of the darkness so that clearly put them at odds; though as I'm sure Joker has pointed out before, you need both light and dark for the shadow to be (which leads to the inevitable philosophical quandary: what came first, the bat or the clown?).

Also, I think the box art is being thoroughly over-analyzed. I believe we need more real information about the game in order to stave off the otherwise unavoidable discussion regarding why Batman appears to have a nose-bleed in the box cover art.

Probably because he was punched in the face.

The Batman model in Arkham Island slowly got more and more beat up as you progressed, with a bloody bruised eye as well as a cut cheek. Plus he even got some stubble towards the end.

My favourite thing in stealth sections was taking out all but one guy and then loving with him, hitting him with batarangs or setting off random explosions. Never got old.

Haha yeah. When that one poor bastard was just by himself and having a borderline heart attack. Sneaking up behind him and then just standing there waiting. Then he turns around sees you and doesn't attack. Just cowers away in horror. Then you punch him in the face.

I could have sworn I had one drop his gun once after being so petrified when he turned around.

I really can't wait for this game they really did Batman justice in the last one.

I loved that, didn't notice a difference 'til right before the fight against all the goons then I panned in close to him and thought "drat, Batman must be knackered at this point,".

It was a funky piece of subtle storytelling that I really enjoyed.

He's punching the concrete building. In this game, Batman is a goony dude with social and anger issues. The kind of nerdy guy who tantrums like a motherfucker over the stupidest poo poo.

The coverart is just after he found out his WoW character got deleted.

Yeah, that was one of the big things that sold me on the demo. Taking out a room full of guys, then a boiler goes off and the remaining guy just starts shooting randomly. It's so great.

Of course, I just like dropping behind guys, walking casually behind them, scaring the hell out of them, then disappearing, just completely loving with 'em.

What I wouldn't have given for smoke bombs you can throw down and disappear in a cloud of mist. Or toss one into a crowd of bad guys and take them out while they're blinded.

Yeah, it brilliantly captured that scene from Batman Begins where he picks off a dock full of crooks like something out of a horror film. Just scared, jittery guys wandering around then bam, one gets dragged into the shadows leaving the remaining goons making GBS threads themselves wondering what the hell is going on.

Messing with the goons was just so much fun in AA, I almost resented the boss fights for getting in the way of it.

What I loved was that Joker would start getting into it as well and goading his goons that Batman's gonnnnnnnaaaaaaa get youuuuuu! - instead of ranting at them for getting whittled down, he was loving every second of it and trying to freak out his remaining goons even more.

The game was so great. I spent hours just loving with the goons. Plant bombs and just throwing RC batarangs from covers to scare the poo poo out of them. Then blow charges and make them fall 2 stories down.

Batman doesn't kill. He makes them quadriplegic.

E: the best is to hang a guy to a gargoyle, bait a goon using batarangs and cut the rope and have that goon fall down on him. So funny.

Great thing about the demo is that the person playing it is actually good. One continuous free-flow combo with plenty of variation- I didn't know you could actually catch thrown objects and hurl them back at your foe.

Yeah. One of the worst thing about gameplay videos is watching some poor person who's never touched it before have a go and promply suck rear end, making the gameplay look difficult and lame. I think the counter-catch is new to Arkham City and it looks awesome.

The left 4 Dead 2 demo was atrocious for that. It looked like the fella playing it had never held a pad before and the sensitivity was set to 10. He was spinning and flailing all over the place.
