The lesson here is that people like different kind of music. I gained an appreciation for lots of things I used to dislike, simply because it was on and I didn't turn the volume down for whatever reason. Try some new stuff. you might like it. If you don't like it, something else will play very shortly.

If you use quick search, the dongs it displays are only the dongs with that term in the title. If you are looking for an artist, you have to click on the artist name to see the songs by that artist.

Ugh no, don't do this. Artist should be the person doing the cover. You can put the original artist in the comments field once it's uploaded if you want.

There seems to be a persistent 17 second delay between when the web page thinks a song has started, and when it shows up in the stream. 17s seems very long for internet lag.

The delay leads people commenting at the end of a song they're listening to, to accidentally comment on the next song queued up instead. If anything, the delay should go the other direction to avoid that.

Your listening app likely has a buffer, no?

I have a question that other people may be wondering:

What is the guideline for uploading different mixes and edits of songs. I assume stuff like remixes are obviously okay, but what about radio edits and the like. For instance, I have a 9 minute version of a song and then a single edit which about a 1/3 of the length. Would it be okay to upload both (provided neither have been uploaded before) or is it one or the other.

That's all fine. They are sufficiently different.

For something like this grab Doc0 in IRC some time, he is a huge Coil fan and has a massive collection. It could be a truncated upload or it might be a different version to the one you have. Once he's checked his original against the upload either a replacing version or an alternative version can be uploaded.

Alternatively add it to the playlist anyway, if it cuts off mid song and is corrupted someone should report it.

Good advice to triple check, especially Coil since they often have a bunch of different versions. However, in this case it looks like it got chopped. I upped the Coil pretty early on and I think the FTP was having issues. I'll fix it when I get home.

Seems to follow the rule from the old GBSFM. That is, that mods can skip, but they generally don't unless it's spoken word or corrupt, or has a huge stretch of silence or something. If someone's abusing their mod powers, then bring it up in IRC. Sometimes humor value comes into play as well.

Mods tend to be pretty lawful neutral (D&D JOKE!), so I wouldn't worry too much about abuses of power.

Check this page out.

The Spectrum Analyser, Volume with VU, and Streaming gadgets all all from there. There are multiple, slightly different streaming gadgets there, I'm using the plainest one, called 'Shoutcast Radio – Sidebar Gadget.' I also use a few other gadgets from that page.

Windows 7 got rid of the sidebar that Vista had. You can still have the gadgets, but there's no optional bar for them to neatly attach to. I liked that feature. While it can be re-enabled through some overly complicated fiddling with Windows system files, there's a much easier way to get that functionality. A gadget called 7 Sidebar fakes it perfectly, and installs as easily as any other gadget.

These are marvelous. Thanks!
