I should probably keep to posting about grognards in TGD, because when I discuss actual real-world politics with people who know what they're talking about, it becomes clear that I have trouble seeing things without a ruleset and character sheets.

I think there was a period of time where they didn't so you had to use either a land or maybe it was a creature that untapped whenever a new creature was put into play. So yeah, yaay for a 2 card infinite.

It is relevant that tokens are not technically cards. It isn't always relevant, but it comes up for oracle text rewrites some times.

Tokens are permanents that are treated exactly like other permanents. They can be sent to other zones like your hand or the graveyard like any other permanent, but once they get there they cease to exist.

Your appraisal of the non-combo is correct in that it's dumb even for the standards of the day, but Artifacts don't get "summoning sickness" only creatures, and summoning sickness only applies to abilities that require you to tap so if Rocket Launcher were for some reason a creature, you could still activate that ability on the turn it came into play.

Minor nitpick: tokens do hit the graveyard when destroyed, but are then removed from game. This is important when there's "when a creatures goes into the graveyard from play" effects out there.

Nope, just remembered you paid 2 to do 1 and it blows up at the end of turn. Guess I forgot the card explicitly states you had to control it for a turn. I guess he's effectively correct even if his terminology is all wrong.

Yep. Your opponent has a turn before all your squirrels untap and overtake his existence

Jesus, dude, listen to yourself. This isn't a Magic forum, this isn't a Magic thread, and I haven't played Magic since Ice Age. I repeated summoning sickness for emphasis-- kind of like going on about it like you are is emphasizing something else.

In short: summoning sickness, summoning sickness, summoning sickness.

Yeah anyone that's played back then will know them, I've been playing for over a decade now and know them but newer players generally won't have any idea what Instill Energy does or what The Wretched is.

I posted it in the MTG thread but here are some actual panels from one of the worst MTG comics I've ever read:

Contamination+Breeding Pit, hope you're playing black because that's the only color of mana you're getting! *sits back, waits to draw drain life*

I really only played that deck against people I didn't like in the RPG club on campus because it was such a shithead strategy, especially with poo poo like dark ritual and basal thrull.

in my vaguely dark sun meets d20 modern setting, I was designing an order of post-apocalyptic mutant biker paladins who smite evil with nail bats and scavenged guns. as nomads and exiles, they lack the facilities to reshape salvaged metal... what kind of armour could keep them well-protected, present a suitably knightly appearance, and still be easy to repair using commonplace materials?

in a stroke of good fortune, the answer lay in one of my mother's exclamation-mark-studded chain e-mails:

....WOW! That's pretty amazing armor. I can see the tire tread, but I really wonder what inspired the sculptor to make that thing?

EDIT: I remember using Lurgoyf to great effect a couple of times, that and Sol'Kanar the Swampwalker.
I also wonder why they abandoned the plotline for the old Vampire the Masquerade. I used to play that as an rear end in a top hat, backstabbing, diablering, power-hungry Tremere jackass blood mage vampy. I think he ended up being 10th gen and having a ton of powers to the point he could obliterate nearly anything. Pretty silly really. How is the new Vampire stuff anyway? Worth bothering with?

New vampire stuff is pretty good, it's a lot more balanced and the game is designed as a toolbox rather than "here's the story, try to wedge your characters in between the mary-sue NPCs with celerity 8." Come over to the nWoD thread and check things out!

It's super super cool and a way better system. I can't say I really like the plot and clans and stuff quite as much, but that's really just lack of familiarity and resistance to change on my part because it's all-around much better done

They tossed the metaplot because it was getting increasingly unwieldy and basically dictated the way individual games were supposed to be run, rather than letting groups do their own thing. If you're looking for that kind of thing, you can basically skip the New World of Darkness stuff. If you're looking for guidelines and frameworks, rather than 'THIS is the way all [vampires|werewolves|mages] of [clan|tribe|school] are', then you're in absolutely the right place.

True. The main game would only come with Space Marines, then you'd have to pay for each new race, and wait for the mod-community to create Squats and Dark Eldar.

I guess I'd better post a picture...
