Somebody brought up Hijinx in the FATAL thread, which was a 3.5 OGL game that did this. It was mostly inspired by the Hanna-Barbara teen detective shows but could be easily reskinned into a heavy metal fighting game.

![]() This is totally a fairly historical representation of Bohemia's battle tactics during the hussite wars. They were some of the first armies to effectively use firearms. They'd build these sturdy armoured wagons, wagon up to the enemy and quickly deploy the wagons into a fort. Then they'd shoot and arrow the poo poo out of the enemy, goading them into an attack. When the enemy attacked tons of crossbowmen and pikemen and muskets would pop out of the wagons and destroy the attackers. By the time anyone go close enough, their pikemen and flails (national weapon) would mop them up. The tactics were so effective, bohemia managed to hold off like 4 crusades from the entire catholic world. Seriously, wiki the hussite wars, was a pretty big deal in thie history of firearms, Europe, Christianity (inspired the protestant movement later), and sweet loving mobile gun forts.

Young Freud posted:Somebody brought up Hijinx in the FATAL thread... Hi there. The rules for Rocking Out in Hijinx are a pretty fun take on D&D combat and totally worth the price Paizo sells that back issue of Dungeon for. It wouldn't take a massive effort to twist them into 4E. Run it along side real combat as well (I originally suggested gestalt 3.5/Hyjinx but same principles) and you could have the Brutal Legend RPG we all dream of. I still want to hear "We kill the dragon, hollow out it's corpse, and we all play a bitchin' set to our assembled fans from atop it's skull" come up during a game. Someone run this in PbP damnit. I'm already running XCrawl. I can't run both...

RelevantWhat is Metal Öpera? posted:Metal Öpera is a game of blunt passion given an electric voice. You play an angry Rocker fighting against the oppression of the State with violence both musical and physical. A Rocker is typified by the leather-clad bad-rear end weilding a smoking shotgun (with a broadsword bayonet), sparking guitar slung over his shoulder. He stands atop a pile of downed foes, a rumbling storm approaching from behind lit within by fierce lightning and without from the hellish fires below. I knew a guy who played this. "What was it like?" I asked. "My characters hair was 'the color of Freedom'," he said.

Pretty great art and it's great to see costumes that aren't misogynistic garbage! For men you see everything, you see the big dumb strong fat guy, the dashing rugged perfect attractive guy, the muscle-bound steroid monster, the old wise master, the goofy ugly dude. Women have 1 body type and only changes in hair style, amount of clothing, and boob size. Seen some pretty good (for the genre) ladies in this thread, but I'd love to see what non-totally hot fantasy art ladies people can dig up. What's out there other than a few half orcs?

Steps for drawing cool fantasy ladies: •Take your favourite porn star or soft-core model, directly copy her, pose and facial expression included. •Replace what little clothing she is wearing with a metal texture •Give large weapon Done

PS The above lady is in a gallery called "Women fighters in reasonable armour" This is how low the bar has been set for female fantasy armour, that someone considered that reasonable. "Well there's no visible cleavage and her labia aren't visible from below her plate skirt so that's pretty reasonable"

Overly sexualized 'armor' is hideous, to be sure, and some of the art there is just retextured other images. But stylized armor emphasizing your fantastic physique is a staple of fantasy; the problem comes when it's nowhere near equally applied to the genders.

Stylised muscle armour = "Look at my muscles. I will gently caress you up. Are you not intimidated?" This is why armour shaped like an idealised male makes sense. Big metal boobs and bare cleavage/midriff has no purpose other than to give nerds something to jack off to.

If she were a hoplite or some other ancient spear and shield footsoldier, her armor would be providing an appropriate amount of coverage. Splicer posted:Stylised muscle armour = "Look at my muscles. I will gently caress you up. Are you not intimidated?" Bare skin is silly, boobplate is 50/50. When it's overdone it's idiotic, but it existing is no worse than muscle breastplates. Fantasy armor doesn't conform to reality; as long as huge open swathes of skin aren't shown I've learned that there's no more a problem with boobplates than any other incredibly unrealistic style of armor.

A couple of the pictures are borderline but most do a good job of presenting a visually appropriate character. That picture is one of the more borderline ones.
