Part of it is just a dude drawing awesome stuff, but that guy actual does professional work: he did a comic called "Shrapnel" awhile back and part of his DA account is filled with stuff he did concept and design work for Nuclear Dawn.

The only other one I can think of is the Aerial Hunter-Killer from The Terminator. I think I'm more tired of that twin turbojet nacelle design than the flying VTOL/attack helicopter sled that is the Aliens dropship.
