Is there any way to switch my options around so that I can actually see how far an older video has loaded? I'm getting full white bars even on stuff about ten days old and I'd much prefer a progress bar than an attempt at letting me seek.

I'm getting that for videos that are only a day or two old now, they've definitely stepped that up. And yeah, I kind of don't like it; I appreciate being able to seek but if I want to watch a video all the way through and it's buffering slower than the video plays (which is most of the time) I'd rather be able to tell where it was up to.

I'm finding it more annoying than I would otherwise because having moved my connection is Not At All Great - it takes some serious time to load anything much at times, so I'd rather just have a video ticking up in the background while I do other stuff. Gotta get my meme videos and singing robots.

Yeah, I connect at barely over 2Mbps, so between that and the servers having improved lately I simultaneously get my connection somewhat flooded and I can't tell when it'll be done.

By the way, one of my good friends just took a job at Nico over in Tokyo, one of a very few people in their new English localization department. It's gonna be a long, hard fight to make Nico competitive with other video sits in the West, and a big part of it has nothing to do with language and everything to do with the page's basic interface and performance, but I still would like to see them try.

e: nm, got it. Kind of amazed it just didn't want to work in firefox at all, though. Also, if anyone knows how to get the loading bar back on older videos, I'm still trying to figure out how to do that. It seems to come and go, so I've taken to hitting refresh a couple times. Only thing I feel missing is a way to add credit to my account so that I can stream for longer and donate to others without having to jump through more hoops than the Jumping Flash series (including the third Japan-only title), but I could paypal to any of the people I know there and do it that way. Dammit. I haven't messed with my settings in forever, but somehow I'm stuck on Q Version or something, because the description box, where people write a message about the video and add previous/next/playlist links, does not exist. There are numbers and whatnot for the previous/next/playlist, but they're just text. It's super annoying not to have that there. If you want to watch things in a playlist/sequence, you basically have to search for it, then go Back every time a video ends to find the next one. There a way to switch it back? My location/language settings are still set to Japan, so that isn't it. E: What the gently caress. Now when I go Back to the videos I was just watching a few minutes ago, it loads up in the new layout/player. That poo poo's hideous. I want the real version back, man. From your account page click the "account settings" link. From that page there should be a change video player option.
