The other part is they do actually need to arrange to get poo poo hooked up to your unit, and that does take a few days if you hurry even.

Is there any software out there for learning how to sing? Like it would tell you what note you're hitting, and what note to aim for, based on the song, or something like that. My voice is terrible, so anything I can do to improve that is a big help.

If there's one thing you shouldn't use software for, it's learning how to sing. That just seems like something you should really, really find a voice coach for. I don't see how computer software will be able to guide you with all of the nuances and cues and uniquely human elements involved in singing.

This type of question has been asked here a few times before, and no, there is no such program that can teach you to sing. If you're having issues with pitch matching, no computer is going to fix that. Even if something could tell you you're off pitch, it's not going to fix your ear. Furthermore: ineptmule posted:This isn't really answering your question I guess but I know a lot of singers (musical family) and they would all say that one of the key things a (real) singing teacher does is expose you to new repertoire based on your voice and your ability. I'd try to find a teacher (or site) which specialises in the style you want, so that they would hopefully have a wide range of songs within that style. Melicious posted:Yeah, anything that purports to teach you to sing without hearing you is bullshit. When learning to sing, it's not just about learning good technique, it's about correcting your form in ways that you'll never be able to perceive on your own. Also: Dudebro posted:If there's one thing you shouldn't use software for, it's learning how to sing. That just seems like something you should really, really find a voice coach for. From the pertussis vaccine article though, it sounds like DTP or Tdap are the only way of getting a pertussis vaccine as an adult. I'm guessing that it's possible to get a tetanus booster without pertussis, but not the other way around.

No filters or k-cups to buy and less packaging to throw away. Plus grinding is quick and whole beans taste better and last longer than pre-ground or k-cups. And you can use any bean or mix and blend yourself. I just wanted to add that the Black and Decker burr grinder is a good buy. It can be found in a lot of clearance bins, is dirt cheap, and has horrible reviews out of box. However, it can be easily modified into a very respectable burr grinder. Yeah, that grinder/french press combo is pretty solid - it costs about $40 total, and if you search out a good local source (the above thread would love to help!), you can make coffee that is leagues better than what they serve at, say, Starbucks. If you're not intimidated by weird coffee gear, you could also check out the Clever Coffee Dripper or the Aeropress. They'll make coffee that is less full-bodied ("cleaner") than a french press will - more like what you're used to in drip coffee.

It really depends: print or screen, audience, platform, etc. Here's a nice article which explains the difference between serif/sans-serif fonts. Some recommendations: Serif: Georgia (really nice, especially smoothly rendered on Mac) Computer Modern - default LaTeX font. You see this in loads of scholary articles. As pointed out here, using a font associated with high quality publications nets you higher grades overall. Sans-Serif: I like Calibri, the word 2007/2010 standard font, or Verdana, another microsoft font. Verdana is a pretty big fonttype, which helps with readability. Arial is bad compared to Verdana, because the I, l and 1 are pretty indistinguishable. Calibri has similar problems, but I really like the look anyway. Tahoma is a safe bet, it's clearly legible and looks somewhat more classic. If I write an academic piece, I mostly go for Georgia for very serious, publication-level stuff, and calibri for the rest. I love the compactness of the calibri font, while still being really legible. Georgia/Comp.Modern looks more professional in print IMO, but that's just because of the standards of the academic world.

I just got a giant refrigerator cheap from a friend. It has water/ice in the door. It has a selection on that little panel for "chilled water". Would this mean there's some sort of reservoir inside? He's used it as a garage fridge for several years not hooked up to water, anything more I should do other than just running a shitload of water out the water dispenser before it's good for drinking? Anything special to taking the doors off? Or putting them back on? It's a side by side and the doors are going to have to come off to make it through my doorway. It looks like just 3 bolts up top 2 down low for each door and 1 water line 1 wiring harness for the freezer door. Should all this just pull apart and go back together real simple? or is there anything I need to watch out for?

I wish I could better describe the look of the font I've seen around the internet. I can't think of any place offhand that I could screen cap an example, I probably will see it like 20 minutes after I hit 'submit reply' cause that's how I roll, apparently. I didn't want something too 'round' and if I remember correctly, I though Georgia was a bit too roundy. I'll read through the article and check Georgia out again, and maybe the others. I know there's a lot of web developer types around these forums so I thought someone might know offhand what all the cool kids are using these days. Might not be that simple, though. I was using one called Miriam (I think?) but it wasn't quite it.

Why is it impossible to un-send text messages? My guess is that giving one phone the ability to access and delete data on another phone would be an easily exploitable/hackable feature to do more than un-send texts, but I don't really know.

What goes wrong is bits of letters have to be lined up with individual pixels, and when you don't plan ahead for it, that can end up distorting letters and making them less readable. It's one of the big reasons why the newer fonts are better and more popular online, its not an accident.

mancalamania posted:Why is it impossible to un-send text messages? Because that's simply not implemented. Noone working on the standard for sending text messages bothered to make a way to revoke them, the same way noone bothered to make it so text messages were 500 characters long instead of 160. But also even if a way to remote delete texts did exist, simply not having signal would be enough to keep the messages on the recipient phone as long as they wished. Or forwarding the text message to another person, etc.

Text messages only exist because someone found an empty space in the cellular communication protocol where a 160-character message could be placed with minimal changes to the rest of the system. Every service that came later and acts like text messages do (MMS, Apple's iMessage, etc) has been built independently and doesn't share the same limitations as basic SMS. The only services that even attempt to implement remote delete are ones that keep the message on their servers at all times, like Facebook, and even in that case like the previous poster said a 100% reliable delete feature is impossible because it can fail for various reasons and the recipient has many ways to keep a copy if they get to it first.

It's way too messy from a "data ownership" point of view, for one thing. You can't un-send an email, you can't un-send a physical letter, and you can't un-make a phone call. Once it's gone, it's gone, and it belongs to someone else. I mean, Gentoo's right, it theoretically could be done, and just hasn't. (Although it would complicate things.) But part of defining a standard (like SMS), is picking actions that you think are reasonable, and consistent with other decisions that have already been made. 160 characters was chosen out of convenience, and, given the chance, they'd choose differently. (As was done with MMS.) However, the inability to recall sent messages is deliberate.
