Thank...I'm not worried about trapped heat...I've got an AC in my bedroom.

I also might be the only person who wants to "downgrade" my King to a Queen...a King is just too drat big. One of the reasons my current mattress sucks is because having to get it up and down stairs during my last move put a HUGE crease in it where some springs must have gotten broken.

Now I'll have to find a queen frame and boxspring on craigslist.

I helped a friend move his king memory foam mattress and that thing was so drat floppy and heavy it was almost impossible for two people. Queen should help a bit. I think they ship them frozen so they're at least rigid.

The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to those who see it coming and jump aside.

Yeah I equate moving a memory foam mattress with trying to dead carry a person. The lack of rigidity makes it difficult.

They actually ship them rolled up in a tube, all compressed though, so it should be pretty easy until you unpack it.

And echoing what the other guy said about viso-elastic sleeping a lot hotter. I have a latex one and it's a lot better at not making me all sweaty, though it did take some adjustment because it still is hotter than a spring mattress.

Also, I'm not sure, but it says 4 lb. foam, and I think that's rather soft so if you like a firmer mattress you'll probably be annoyed.

I think browned tips on a palm-ish plant are pretty common, something about minor contaminants in the water. Water it with clean, de-chlorinated (leave it in an open container overnight) water, and water it a whole bunch in one watering until water appears at the bottom of its pot (you do have it in a water dish, right?), and do this only every 3-5 days. You absolutely can over-water a potted plant.

It does not stand in a water dish, should it ? I'll relay the information about the water, but what about those "branches" - should I straighten them up or let them grow however they want? Does it make any difference?

Well it's not crucial, it just prevents messes when you water it to the point that water comes out the bottom. Many pots have sort of a built in water catching tray - they look like a little trought around the circumference of the bottom, and the pot should have little holes down there for drainage. If not, you can just put any suitable flat thing with a lip around it, like a lid to a huge tupperware storage thing or something. Or you can put a towel or two under it.

I don't know a ton about palms, but generally, a tree knows what it's doing with regards to branch structure.
This is not always the case in trees, but in palms where the branches (fronds?) are kind of flexy, I think it can handle all but the most absurd branching structures.

If you personally prefer them to not get so wide, you can prune things to make them grow in a structure that pleases you better. Basically this means properly trimming the branches that grow in a way you don't like. I can't give advice on how to do this with a palm. But you shouldn't cut more than a third of the living foliage on a plant in one season.

Or do you mean that they are growing out sideways and you're worried that's a bad thing for them? That is probably quite normal. But if you want to give your plant a fun bonus, you can help prop them up with some kind of support. Plants have to spend energy to prop up their branches, so if you do that form them with human technology (see tomato cages) you can help the plant grow better.
But it's probably not really necessary.
If you do this, try not to use too abrasive or sharp of a support.

I have good timing it seems, as I have a horticultural question as well!

What kind of tree is this?

I just received it as a gift, and while it looks a lot like a mangrove to me, I'm not entirely sure. What I know about it: doesn't need a lot of water (my friend was watering it once ever one and a half weeks) or sun (he had it about 20 feet from the nearest window), and it has descending roots much like a mangrove.

My first thought was "well if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck..." etc etc, however I figured I'd pose the question to more knowledgeable folks.

Intriguing...

What are the signs of a dying modem? My parents' modem is like ten years old, and whenever I try to use the internet at their place I have this weird issue.

Basically if I try to load a bunch of pages all at once, they all just freeze. Like, they'll all get stuck in the middle of loading. When this happens, I see no network activity (at least from my computer's end). If I wait a bit, I can get pages to load again. So basically I have to slowly load pages one at a time, and if I don't space them out enough then it'll stop working altogether and I have to wait again.

I know the problem isn't with my computer because I don't have this problem on any other networks. The internet isn't an issue as well because when it's not getting stuck it's really fast, and it's only started doing this in the last year or two.

I bought an off-brand memory foam mattress and the online reviews mentioned the stinkiness problem. When it arrived (rolled up and looking like a gym punching bag), I opened it up expecting the worst. There was zero odor and it assumed its final size in about an hour.

I haven't had any problems with heat, but I tend to generate a LOT of heat if I'm covered up completely, so I can't really blame the mattress. I have been sleeping like the dead on it.

Based on the leaf structure, aerial roots and that it looks to have been bonsai'd it could very well be a Button Mangrove.

The pot is supposedly built with some weird apparatus that handles excess water, so I think this won't be a problem. I'm glad the branches should be all right on their own, I would hate to harm the plant. Thank you very much:)

I'm trying to find an episode from a show. I dont remember the show's name, but it was from a 90s Twilight Zone-style scifi show that aired in North America. The episode in question was about an elderly man who has a machine in his apartment that keeps the world in check, and he has to keep it running or else. His son thinks he's crazy and is trying to send him to a old folk's home. The final scene has a bunch of orderlies pulling the old man out of his apartment while he screams about a small island being destroyed because he cant fix his machine. Any ideas?

I'm doing a little creative writing project and I have completely forgotten all the rules of writing prose - grammar, paragraphing, format, etc. Unfortunately, googling this is just leading me to a ton of novel-writing advice that's more along the lines "try to make your characters three dimensional" and "try writing a bad book and learn from your mistakes".

I remember that you start a new line whenever a different character speaks. But the use of commas at the end of dialogue and next to "he said"s, and if you can have dialogue be after a piece of descriptive text on a new line?

Anyone know a site or a link that could help me out?

I left my camera at home but I'm trying to identify a tree. The main thing about it is that the seed pods are big and leafy, much larger than the actual seeds, and they're mostly hollow. They look kind of like paper lanterns.

The leaves are almond-shaped and the leaf pattern is basically a series of leaves diagonally facing outward in pairs opposite each other on the branch, except for one outward-facing leaf at the very end.

It was kind of a short tree and the trunk curved off to the side as opposed to going straight up.

Is "West Indian" a politically correct term? I'm American as is my mother, but she spent a good chunk of her life living in England and uses the term "West Indian" when referring to someone from the Caribbean islands. I know the term is much more common in the UK, but is it considered offensive elsewhere? I don't think I've heard anyone in the US using it, instead going for Carribean, or going more specific and saying Dominican, Cuban, etc. Is it about the same as saying Indian over Native American?
