In 2002, EGM printed as an April Fools' joke that you could unlock Sonic & Tails in Super Smash Bros. Melee if you could beat 20 opponents in Cruel Melee mode. I think I remember beating 19 of them at most before I realized it was a prank that someone told me. Apparently, after revealing the prank, EGM then held a contest where those who sent in videos proving they accomplished over 20 KOs in Cruel Melee would win a copy of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
