pics tonight, but wow I wouldn't call this shotgun used. it looks just a bit dirty. The shop itself was interesting. It is packed with modern stuff, but there seems to be a large selection of mosins, M39s, k98s, k31s,etc. The mosins were unremarkable, and the m39s were overpriced. The k31s had nice stocks though (but overpriced) he doesn't seem to know any markings, so I am curious to browse the k98 side for special deals.. but the mosins were all run of the mill markings. no westinghouse ones hidden. The price wasn't THAT bad if you were looking for something, the sig prices were reasonable too. I recommend checking them out.

Uh, guess this is the right place to ask this, considering I live in PA and I guess the laws might be different elsewhere. The questions is concerning transferring guns in vehicles (ie from home to the range). Back when I had my old Subaru I've have the guns (rifle and pistol) locked in hard cases and in the trunk of my wagon with the ammo and stuff on the floor in front of the passenger seat. I think this arrangement was legally ok in case I ever got pulled over or anything. I don't have a conceal carry permit or any of that jazz. Anyway, I just bought a single cab truck. Haven't had the chance to get an accessories for it but I was eventually gonna get a truck bed cover. In this case is traveling with say my pistol in a locked case in front of the passenger seat a big no-no? I really don't want to leave that stuff in the truckbed on the way to and away from the range.

I think as long as its unloaded you're good. Alternately, with a pistol just get your LTCF and you can have it in the car however you want it.

MazeOfTzeentch posted:Alternately, with a pistol just get your LTCF and you can have it in the car however you want it. It's so easy to get a LTCF in PA its worth doing just for simplifying driving with guns, even if you never intend on carrying.

I have the links to the UFA in the OP. If you own guns in PA it is a good idea to give it a quick read through. Ammo and guns in locked and separate containers out of the reach of the occupants in the car is the general advice. LTCF allows you to transport pistols however. Rifles always, always unloaded. http://www.frontlinearmory.com/misc/paoc/ufa.html#6106 Read 6106(a) and 6106(b)(4) in particular. It's not easy to get a LTCF in PA. It is easier than easy because PA is a shall issue state. It means that if you meet the criteria then they have 45 days (not calendar days, just 45 days sun up to sun down) until you can go to the office and they have to hand it over to you. Some counties will do it on the spot. Some take a few weeks. The assholes like philly will sit on your application for the full 45 days before filing it. It's worth it to get even if you never conceal. king of the bongo fucked around with this message at Feb 4, 2011 around 06:52 |

Philly TFR Meat Up![]() Gauging interest for a Philadelphia area meat up at Chima at 18th and JFK downtown. Enjoy a good old-fashioned Brazilian churrascaria, discuss guns, eat meat on swords. I have some coupons from Philly chamber, so it's $10 off the usual price. I'm thinking Wednesday, February 16th.

Have any Philly goons ever used SPAG for transfers? I know they overcharge, but they're within walking distance of my house, so I just chalked up the extra cost to convenience. I bought a pistol on Gunbroker on Tuesday and had the seller fax an invoice and their FFL to SPAG that same day. SPAG still hasn't faxed theirs to the seller and has been pretty unhelpful on the phone. Should I go in and see what's up or try another place entirely (is that poor Gunbroker etiquette?)? Also, I'm down for the meat-up even though I don't know any of you guys. I need some people to talk guns with.

Call during the week in the evening and ask for Bobby. Mikey and Mike are two other names you can ask for but I deal with Bobby personally and Mike rarely works behind the counter. Mikey is a nice guy but I have never bought anything from him or relied on him for any of my paperwork. If either are working they will sort you out though. . The chick who picks up the phone doesn't know much so don't try to ask her anything. The guys who work with her handle anything regarding guns/ammo. The owner and a couple of the other older guys are absolutely terrible at customer service and making someone feel welcome. I am guessing you are running into those guys. I would pay the extra 15$ they charge if they were walking distance too. I have to catch a bus to them so for me it is the same to go to conshohocken or upper darby to do transfers. Philly gun stores hate internet sales. Philly gun stores hate internet sales for non citizens even more (as you have to manually enter the info over the phone with an agent vs punching in a citizens drivers license #). I ran into it all the time.

I tried getting in touch with Bobby today shortly after they opened, but was told that he was busy and would call me back, but he never did. I guess I'll stop by tomorrow and see if anyone can help me get sorted (and maybe put a box or two downrange while I'm there). The phone chick is terrible, she didn't even ask for my name or contact info the first time I called. I'm like the most prompt Ebay-payer on the planet, so I'm just being neurotic about establishing a good rep on Gunbroker (plus I want my new shooting iron).

Haven't bought a new gun in a while (gently caress losing jobs during the holidays) and last I heard DKhelmet was unable to get in touch with him for a transfer. He might have just been traveling on vacation that time so try him again. I kinda miss his stories and his questions about India that he always had lined up for me. He won't transfer from a private individual. He only sneds his FFL out to other FFL holding stores.

Teaford Auto is another i used in Conshohoken. Good guy, but the gun/bodyshop is scary at night (and day) I just used Treeline sports in Norristown. Decent milsurp selection, but about 20%-50% higher then GB. $30 transfer just like the rest. Many of the guys you will find locally on subguns and gunbroker are gone, so i have been trying to contact and find new ones.
