I am also up for the potential of a topton run friday or saturday. its covered benches, so its not too bad if its drizzling. I must verify my ar function, and I also must shoot *something*. i really need a good stress relief day. Also i can bring some .22 rifles to shoot in the mail in .22 contest. I'll go alone, i swear i till, but I want people to fool around with.

http://www.house.state.pa.us/Video/HouseVideo.cfm Is anyone watching the PA House of Representatives live feed tonight? They're supposed to try to get the Castle Doctrine bill on the floor for a vote. Been emailing my state reps for a while now. Hope this actually goes to a vote. Just let them vote on the bloody thing! Edit: They brought up the discharge! Democrats are trying to block it! Double edit: The vote was moved to Monday.

Lancaster (Franklin and Marshall) goon with limited shooting experience checking in. Next time there is some range event I would love to come. But before that two things. One, why are there no gun related things anywhere near Lancaster, it confuses and angers me. Two, All I can offer to bring to goon meets is money and a PVS-14

The York range I go to above Dover is just a bit further than that. As far as shops, the closest to you would be Backwoods Outfitters in Columbia. Others that I've visited in Lancaster county include Tropp and Kinsey's off of 283 near Elizabethtown. York county has a bunch of shops all within a quick 40 minute drive from F&M.

Does anyone here hunt small game? I've been meaning to get into that sport... Edit: Get on the horn to your state representatives. There's some suspicious going-ons with the Castle Doctrine bill. Likely that there will be attempts to add amendments that will affect all gun owners, including restrictions on semi-auto rifles, one gun a month rules, legalized sales databases, restrictions on handgun parts, no more recognition of out of state nonresident carry licenses, and "lost and stolen" laws. How do I go about taking classes and getting licensed?

WelInsane Totoro posted:How do I go about taking classes and getting licensed? Well, I took a general "hunter safety course" when I was like 12. You can get your hunting license at any sporting goods store. They are like $20 and allow you to do most hunting, except for muzzle loader and bow hunting. Those require different licenses. The PA game commission web site has a lot of information. Here is a list of courses coming up. http://www.portal.state.pa.us/porta...D=590352&mode=2 For small game you will definitely want a 22lr or a shotgun. Pistols and rifles cannot be semi automatic. Also, shotguns must have a mag plug limiting the gun to only hold 3 rounds.

Anyone in the Pittsburgh area willing to show a complete newbie the ropes? I want to learn how to shoot but I don't know anything about it and I'd like to see what it's like before plunking down the cash for a 22. Is there anywhere in particular where Allegheny County goons go to shoot? Do they allow guests?

We don't have anything terribly fancy and would hardly pass as firearms instructors but I'm sure we could work out a date to go put holes in paper with you. We're in Perry South. (We being my fiance and I, who keeps lamenting that he never bothers to haul his lazy rear end to a range) As for ranges, we don't belong to a private one but there's a public state game lands range up in Wexford that shouldn't be too terrifying. Hopefully.

No shooting before noon on Sunday, no buckshot, paper targets on established target backers only, and don't get caught with more than 3 rounds in a long gun (6 for handguns).

Yeah, I'm familiar with the SGL rules, we used to go to the one in Indiana all the time. It was a hell of a lot closer to town than Wexford is to here though

I know next to nothing about guns, other than what I've picked up on here from reading the Newbie Questions thread, so even anything as simple as 'How do I eject the magazine?' would be really helpful. This weekend is pretty stocked with papers and test prep, but I think I could make the drive out to Wexford next weekend, if you're available. Well, the SGL rules are posted, but you might have to dig around in the weeds to find them since the boards they're posted on tend to be a popular target :/ Once hunting season is over I'm considering hosting a goonshoot, so keep an eye on the forums if you want to shoot w/ suppressors, full auto, muzzleloaders, and other goofy stuff.

I took it when I was 14, and was told you had to take it, and in the 9 years since then I've never had to present anything to get a hunting license except my drivers license. And last year we wanted more doe tags so my mom got a license for the first time in 20 years, and she got it no problem as well. I'm not saying people shouldn't have to take the class (they absolutely should, and it should be required if it isn't), I'm just curious if you actually are legally obligated to take it.

Arven posted:I'm just curious if you actually are legally obligated to take it. You sign an affidavit stating that you have taken the course, so I imagine that if you're under scrutiny for some other infraction it might add to your problems. For some reason the hunter safety course is waived if you're active service, reserve, or within 6 months of your discharge date. If you're new to hunting and intend to hunt this season in PA, register for a hunter safety class today because they're already mostly fully booked.

Also the state has just recently changed the licensing procedures. Before you would just go in and get your license. It was pretty much end of story. However nowadays your license # stays the same for everything. Each eligible hunter in PA is now assigned a specific ID# which will be used for all hunting and fishing licenses for the rest of your life. I would also call around to any local ranges, they may have some other similar courses?

Wed-fri works for me. lets do this EDIT: I just signed up for a VERY close by hunter safety course. they added a ton of options since i last looked, and this is just 20 min away from me. its a course from 7-9pm, with a test. That is dissapointing. i specifically used him in the past because he was so responsive to us, and I specifically asked him if he was okay becoming our 'go to' ffl for all the area goons. Bongo and i have always had a good rapport with him too. Oh well, I suggest Teaford Auto he is also very responsive as well. But a quick search of GB shows a couple new people really close to me now too in the $25 range. This guy is new: Malcolm Height DHF Sales LLC 275 S Bryn Mawr Ave K35 Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 Cell Phone: 610-520-1148 Long Gun Fee: $25.00 Transfer a long gun including NICS PA Residents only Hand Gun Fee: $25.00 Transfer a Hand Gun including NICS PA Residents only Delco Shooting Supply 1107 Lincoln Ave Prospect Park, PA 19076 is a new shop I read about on PAFOA.org .. and they are right next to the regional rail line, making it very easy for philly goons to get to. $25 as well. He might be my new one.

So I called about joining Ontelaunee today, expecting the usual Rod & Gun club rundown (Show up for a meeting, agree to manual labor, pay a bunch of $, sign away your first born). I was pleasantly surprised when the woman I spoke to basically said to send her an app and $20 check by the meeting next Wednesday and I'd be getting my membership card for 2011 in the mail shortly.
