Its going to approach 60 degrees at some point this week, and possibly next as well. I'm willing to take a day and shoot the poo poo at French Creek or topton (or steel / 600 yards at new holland) if anyone wants to skip work for a day.

Also I want to hit SPAG this week, because I miss everyone local as well. Don't let this die out, lets have fun again people.

This end up

Went to Wicen's last week, had a blast with some friends, though it was slower paced than I'm used to at my indoor range so we didn't get to shoot nearly as much as I'd have liked.

Finally bit the bullet and upgraded to a private range. I joined my local range, Harrisburg Hunter's and Anglers only this week. It's worth it to me to get away from the PA state game ranges.

I have to watch a 30minute safety video, and then after that I need to qualify for shooting in the indoor range. This requires me to shoot offhand, a 22lr pistol at 50 feet. I get 10 shots, and all 10 shots must be on the paper.

I purchased my GF's P22 a while ago and never used it. I am kinda sweating that I will miss one of those shots since the gun will be new to me, as well as the range. Also, the P22 was never designed to be a 50ft target pistol.

Anyone members of HH&A and have qualified for the indoor range?

Hey buddy. I'm a member and relative gun newbie. It's really a great place to shoot, usually totally uncrowded or even empty. Much better than the public ranges.

But to answer your question no, I haven't qualified for the indoor range yet. Got the guys number and all, but with work and school and holidays approaching I've been putting it off...

50 feet is pretty close, though. Not sure how big the target is. Anyway pretty much everyone that I've talked to who works there has been really friendly. I can't imagine them not giving you a few tries if you get pretty close.

I qualified with "Alan" at the orientation video. I let the others at the orientation qualify with my P22 after the video was over. All my shots were on the NRA target, no sweat.

He just wanted us to show that we can safely handle and clear a handgun.

Yea, HH&A is a pretty sweet place to shoot guns.

For a week.

I'll be in the Reading/Philly neighborhood from 12/23-1/3. I'm only going to bring my o/u shottie this year so if any PA Gunes want to break some flying clays I'm all for it. Lil Deez, I'm looking at you...

That place was nice, yeah. A bit closer to where I'll be staying this time, too. I remember shooting trap there, but did they have skeet as well? We shot skeet at that club near Reading.

B) Inheriting guns is the easiest way to go, actually. Father to son or Grandfather to son (or Mother/Grandmother as well, I suppose) you can just give it, anything else you'd have to check because I can't remember. But as long as both the you and the giver are PA residents it's all cool.

C) Transporting firearms it needs to be locked in a separate compartment from the driver, unloaded, and ammo in a different compartment from the gun.

Both of these only apply to pistols, with long guns you can give them away / sell them to whoever whenever.

Last year I learned that not everyone orients their skeet fields to account for the sun. I blew, what, 3 straights in a row shooting right at the sun on station 8? I'm thinking maybe we could hit up the Reading field a bit earlier in the day.

I'm not dead, although I might as well be. I won't be able to make it tomorrow at 10, but I'm trying to hit SPAG on Saturday the 18th.

Kinda good news. The project I'm working on has about 40 days before it's done, then there's 3 weeks of 24 hour shifts, which means I should be back to my normal schedule around... March.

Actually, they converted the archery range into classrooms. I asked why they kept "Archery" in their name, and they told me that the owner's dad was into archery or something and he kept it in the name for nostalgic reasons. It's funny, if you look on the sign they put up next to the door, only about half of the features they list are still available. A 'smoking lounge' would have been cool, but oh well.
