Title: Svidd Neger Country: Norway Year: 2003 The title is a direct translation of the original title "Svidd Neger". This is absurdist comedy at heart. It takes place on an unspecified island in northern Norway, and the story revolves around a non-existent plot. Let's just say this small island is populated by a handful of people, whose only connection to the mainland is a rowboat and a walkie talkie owned by a nomadic black metal sami man. The population is divided into two separate families, a black kid who sincerely believes he is a sami, and the aforementioned real sami, who dreams about a better life in America. The film kicks off when the two families (who was oblivious to eachother at the time) meet. Arranged marriages, shopping carts in the woods, secret births, adultery, murder, alcoholism and african militias are just part of the weird stuff the director put into this film. PS: The photography is beautiful. 4/5

I watched this twice. First without English subtitles and then with. I think it was better without. There really isn't any story at all just a bunch of silly looking people loving around with found props. Its like a 2 hour version of Doom House with frequent tits and stabbings. And fjords. 4/5
