Just because you don't hear him in cartoons doesn't mean he isn't working. Kevin Conroy does a lot of stage work.

Also, the mournful tits dialogue was fantastic.

I like how Rusty, as a super scientist, actually was too important to be kidnapped and thus the whole torture thing was completely unnecessary. On the other hand, Sgt. Hatred wasn't cool enough to join the ranks of illustrious henchmen such as the Revenge Society's IT guy and Billy Quizboy.

I sort of felt this way too. The subplot with Rusty and Hank was the only part that really seemed like it was something that should be happening within the Ventureverse.

That being said, it was one of the funniest episodes they've done. It just seemed like they wanted an excuse to get all of the awesome characters together and made the plot up underneath it, which isn't really Venture style. Did they ever explain how that Zeus thing worked, or how Scott managed to organize this whole thing? Using 21 to figure the whole thing out seemed pretty forced too.

But I'm also hoping that I'm wrong and that this means at least some changed dynamics between the OSI, the Guild, that 21 will actually somehow make it to #1 and that it wasn't just a way to make Zero mad, and that Ghost Robot is okay.

That was just spectacular. The coke-commercial ending was one of the best done scenes I've seen in a cartoon in forever; the timing, animation, and expressions were just so... beautiful.

Outside of that, I think Billy and Pete running away from the fight with Billy saying "I don't want to die!" just slayed me for a good five minutes. Ahhh so perfect. I hope it never ends.

Desmond, the current Captain Sunshine, was the previous Capt. Sunshine, and Number 1 tricked him into gathering up all the people for him. Desmond was the fake Zeus. No idea how Scott beat him if Shore Leave wasn't able, but it happened.

I thought it was good, but my main problem (and this happens often) was that the main villain was an obscure reference, and I haven't watched those early episodes since they aired (over 5 years ago).

Also I agree that they muddled the explanation of the whole Zeus thing to the point where I'm still not 100% sure what was going on.

One of the Monarch's other henchmen mentioned back at the beginning of the first half of the season that 21 is basically Henchman 1 now anyway, but he refuses to change his number. He only did it in this episode to make Scott mad.

This episode reminded me of Return to the House of Mummies Part II in a lot of ways. It felt really disjointed, and things were barely explained enough to let the story continue. I love this kind of episode.

Wasn't as strong as the first eps, the B-story had legs but wasn't utilized to its max potential and the whole composition felt disjointed in deference of the mystery. Some good banter driven mostly by the General. Publick appears to be the stronger writer out of the gate for the 2nd half, but we'll see.

I wonder if the AS bosses told them to cool it with the pedo jokes, or if they told themselves to cool it after detecting the fan negativity. Because that's been completely absent in these episodes, and Hatred is a better character for it. He'll never rank amongst the funnier characters in the show, but he's better than he was.

I think all this just means its time for hour long episodes, give them enough time to get the whole story out.

Actually no, that would probably mean a minimum of 2 years between seasons of 8 episodes, and Jackson and Doc finally getting fed up and quitting.

To sum up for those that don't watch like us sperglords do:

Scott Hall, previously The Monarch's henchman #1, accompanied #21 and #24 on a mission on Spider Skull island. Though #1 proved himself to be extremely capable and bad-rear end, 21 and 24 informed him that he was trying too hard and was being too cliche and so he would likely be killed unless he acted like them. Presumably he met his fate at the hands of Brock Sampson, just as explained by 21/24.

It turns out that #1 survived and somehow got the old Capitan Sunshine (the previous generation from the one we saw earlier) to pretend to be Zeus to gather up sidekicks and henchmen. His goal being to exact revenge on 21, and possibly to vent his anger on the other henchmen/sidekicks too.

It's all a bit convoluted, but that's the world of Venture Brothers style super-villainy for you.

Well, in this episode we did get a scene where he's getting onto Dean for not looking at porn or whacking it in his room, and Hatred's disappointed in him for not hitting his dad in the balls like Hank's (not actually) doing. Nothing particularly pedophilic, but still vaguely creepy.

I'm a little surprised he wouldn't want revenge on The Monarch for one reason or another. I would think that The Monarch probably mistreated him at some point, based on how he generally treats his henchmen.

This was never confirmed nor denied in the episode itself, but frankly, it's funny either way.

The later appearance by the "retired" Wonderboy certainly lends credence to the "is a pedophile" interpretation. Let the record show that he can't even get an erection unless he's tied to a chair with a time bomb strapped to his chest.

Good Lord I didn't think it could be any clearer that Sunshine was NOT a pedophile and that was the entire punchline to the "he's a pedophile!" setup of that episode, but I guess other people have interpreted it differently.
