I saw them years ago in Detroit, after Flashy, and it might just be the best live show I've been to, ranking up there with Gogol Bordello where Hutz hopped on a security guard's back and rode him around stage, or Iggy Pop, where he called for everyone in the front rows to just jump on the stage. But Dick Valentine manages to put on an incredible show without any major gimmick. Even when dealing with jackasses in the audience:

I mean, what better way to deal with a heckler than to dismantle his douchiness and spin it into a positive message? All at some little dive in Ohio with what looks like less than 50 people in the crowd.

I'd love to see them again but will have to wait at least until their next tour when I'll be back in the US. Until then I really love Kill and Zodiac. Anybody else fans of Body Shot, American Cheese, or Doom and Gloom?

I'm really digging "Psychic Visions" and "It Gets Hot". It needs to be October already.

I still can't believe these guys are on pace to release 10 albums in 10 years, and they'll be touring again in just a month and a half. Anyone in the Detroit area should definitely see them at the DIY festival in Ferndale; free show and a few other good bands there as well.

And they'll be in Detroit this Saturday, just in time for me being home for Easter. Aww yeah.

My non-improper dancing story was when I took my dad to a show. His favorite movie is Wings of Desire and my favorite E6 song at the time was "dance epidemic", and Dick tells the audience "Two more songs and it's over. But I'm not gonna tell you about a dance epidemic, I'm not gonna tell you about a dance epidemic..." and then goes into it.

And here's a great exchange between Dick and a jackass in a polo shirt that may have been posted before but it's awesome:
