Sorry I didn't mention that part. The words are part of the background image, which isn't a big deal because there's no scrolling. I then used a transparent png for the SiMi folder image.

Have you tried Pure Messenger? It can be scrollable like the LPP one, it has skinning support built in, and I believe it can use contact photos as well.

This is actually better than what I was looking for, since it also supports Facebook, and I'm not too fond of the LPP Facebook widget (or Facebook's Facebook widget), either.

I am having a problem with it displaying contact photos, though. I have "Show Contact Pictures" checked under Display->Options, but nothing's showing up for any of my text contacts, just Facebook notifications/messages.

edit: turns out that it's a limitation because of a Google/Facebook arrangement. I'm trying SyncMyPix as a solution, but nothing yet.

Great idea and most of it is gorgeous but some of it is also hideous. Especially the "more options here" image (like next to the sound options under settings.) I dislike the vertical signal meter too. Black browser is great though.

I would love to see a fork of theme Chooser with per app options.

I've not been happy with Flikie HD lately so I gave InterfaceLIFT's Backdrops a try. I think the issue with Flikie HD is that not all of their wallpapers are "HD", although I suppose newer ones are being added that way. When you click on a wallpaper to preview it, sometimes it will be larger than most others. Flikie HD saves all wallpapers to your phone in the same resolution but I think the preview is displaying at the actual resolution of the image on the server, so it's being resized when you save/set it. A large wallpaper preview seems to indicate a larger original, and so you get a better quality wallpaper. However, there aren't very many of the larger wallpapers and they still seem to have consistently noticeable compression defects. Backdrops, as far as I can tell because it doesn't let you save images, seems to set wallpaper at the correct resolution for your device and doesn't have many, if any, compression defects; overall I think the starting image is just consistently better quality.

These are from a Samsung Vibrant.
Backdrops:

Pretty clear all the way through, maybe some issues in the melting snow near the water or in the noisier parts of the background trees but overall looks pretty clean. Looks even cleaner on the phone itself.

Flikie HD (larger preview size):

Lots of compression defects, especially noticeable on the edges of the mountain or in the shadows.

Flikie HD (smaller preview size):

Noticeable scaling defects over the whole image, especially in the sky.

Backdrops also sports more refined categories and top picks from the editors, but like I said you can't save and you can't favorite. It's only version 1 at the moment so I suppose they could add that functionality later.

Lately I've been going with a much simpler desktop, got sick of constantly tweaking things. In these shots I'm running the Zeam launcher and the super clock from Beautiful Widgets. A swipe up opens the application drawer, a swipe down expands notifications.

Due to how Backdrops works the best I could do was link you to the original InterfaceLIFT page. The other two are just the wallpapers as dled through Flikie.
First: Perfect Winter Landscape
Second: Sunny Day
Third: Molokini Crater

tl;dr Spergin' about wallpapers, Flikie sux, Backdrops is better but lacks saving/favoriting.

I really like the minimal text based themes, but really only in these blown up pics. On my n1 everything just looks really small.

I got the Dreamlyfe dock and the text is so small that I don't think I can keep it.
Battstatt is also really small one the screen.

It's a shame because otherwise it would be great.

All the things I use often have their own button. Everything else is found on the two dock pages I have apps on.

How did you get minimalist text widget to be so grouped?

Edit: Nevermind, simply resize in LPP.

Double Edit: Actually not, There is still a pretty big gap. Is the resolution changed?

Triple edit: Just in case anyone is wondering, you have to increase the number of columns and rows ion the home screen

With one exception, all the widgets on my phone are the the minimalist text widget with multiple lines of text and different fonts used in each one. By changing how they are oriented and which side of the box the text aligns to, you can get the text really close. By adding another line you can also force it to move the text some. It is a little counter-intuitive at times.

If you ignore the icons (which you should be because icons are 99% of the problem with themes and can be replaced with ADW), Bionic Blue is really nice, using it on my NC. It even supports tablet resolutions, which Honeybread doesn't. Hopefully Honeybread will add support for tablet resolutions and I can go back to it, but until then, this works great.
