Now that you mention it, yeah, it looks like that was the case. Woops.

point still stands though: Junji Ito is alive!

edit: poo poo, new page. Here's an old stand-by that should be in every creepy image thread.

Something about the way the chicken is in the exact same angle in both pictures suggests to me that it has been photoshopped into one or both of them. I could be wrong, though.

Ah, poo poo, I WAS wrong... it doesn't match up in Photoshop, but in my investigations, I created this, which is oddly creepy in and of itself...

His earlier book Expedition is also pretty out there, though it's not really a novel like god's demon. His idea of alien life is pretty unique, with nearly everything being liquivorious (is that a word?) and using advanced sonar to 'see' their enviroment. Makes for some unnerving looking critters

What a lovely way to go. I imagine small insects that fall in just drown and are then digested. But, this guy, isn't going to drown. He'll be eaten alive...fully aware of his slow demise. :ohdear:

I don't know, I kind of like it. It certainly doesn't have the visceral consequence of Ito and most horror that I am used to. Yet I remember being a kid and imagining monsters under the bed, closet, etc. They would be there in terrifying detail without explanation, but my thoughts never went to what they would do to me. All that I needed to keep myself awake at night was the very idea that something unnatural is invading my space and wishes to do something ill to me. I think that is the nature of the idea of being haunted and this series taps into that primal, universal fear of being haunted or watched by something that goes bump in the night.
