Fire it up.

The brown fuzzy character in Problem Solverz is some of the worst voice acting I've heard in ages. I don't know why they thought it would be clever or funny--I also got the same Aqua Teen vibe. It seems like they put as much effort into it as Super Jail but it fell flat just like the robot show that was canceled. Goddamn what were they thinking? Especially since it's on the Cartoon Network side and not on the Adult Swim side.

The Regular Show, though, was awesome. I thought that Rigby being such a dick almost undermined his character, though. Since he brought the Single White Female scenario on himself he didn't seem as cute or redeemable. It seemed like it needed a few more minutes of story to really make sense.

Chowder was alright. It had its moments, and it never took itself too seriously, so I never really had a problem with it, but I found FlapJack to be far and away a better show.

Its kinda funny. CN was in this sort of dead zone until Chowder came out. It was fantastic and I couldn't get enough of it. Then Flapjack came out and I felt bored of Chowder. Then in the middle of Flapjack's tenure, they announce Adventure Time. I'd been waiting for that since the pilot leaked on youtube years before. Adventure Time premiered and I got bored of Flapjack. Then I saw my first episode of Regular Show and now whenever I watch Adventure Time, I just wish it was Regular Show instead.

Problem Solverz is an affront to all the senses, so I won't be getting tired of Regular Show for a long long time. Its just so refreshing to have a cartoon be so mellow (at the start) and genuinely funny as Regular Show.

That's what's makes it so painful. I love DiMaggio but that tone and volume of that voice is so grating. It sounds like he's going blow his throat out doing it and that would be sad.

No, Foster's was genuinely cool. It's hard not to be that cool when you have a homage to The Big Lebowski in an episode.

It's always the good shows that ended too early. Except Dexter's Lab.

Foster's was the last really great Original that CN had until Chowder and it's ilk came about. It was a charming show with a great visual style, decent writing, and good characters. Everything that came after it felt off. It really was a holdover from the Cartoon Cartoon era, before they seemed to cheat off of Nick and Disney's papers.

The thing about Foster's that bugged me was that so many people living in a magical world populated by beings who were anthropomorphic childlike whimsy were really uptight.

I think living in a world like that would lose its luster after a while.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure getting staying in room with Blue for more than a day would turn the most wide-eyed child-at-heart into a cold-hearted cynic in no time.

Even Foster got sick of him after awhile.

Bloo!<>

Also, I think the overall point of the show is that the "uptight" people eventually outgrew their imaginary friends, leaving them with nowhere to go. You'd need the uptight people for the home to exist in the first place.

I seriously think that Foster's being cancelled was a breaking point for me with Cartoon Network. It's also around the time they started embracing this whole CN thing, so that might ahve something to do with it. Chowder was the first good show to come out during the CN times, I think.

I suppose when whimsy becomes commonplace, it ceases to be whimsical. People can become accustomed to and bored by anything after a while.

Not a coincidence; both directed by the same woman. She's really good with the references for the adults... like that episode of Powerpuff Girls that was composed almost entirely of Beatles references.

Funny you didn't mention she was married to Craig McCracken or that she's responsible for that pony show.

However, does this mean we can expect a Lebowski reference in My Little Pony?

I have no idea. They promoted the hell out of this episode when it first came out. I remember it being an entire focus of a Cartoon Cartoon Friday, even, though I could be mis-remembering.

As much as it's seen as a girly show, PowerPuff girls owned for everyone.

As there was an episode with villains called the Diamond Dogs, and there was not a single Bowie reference, I'm not so sure.

Getting the thread back on track, does anyone know where I can get a legit copy of the pilot? It doesn't seem to be up anywhere, and I think it's still my favourite episode next to My Jam.

Maxx was one of those shows that was always on at like 1am, watched entirely at a time when I wasn't used to staying up that late so everything on TV at 1am seemed so weird and exotic. Looking back at it I don't think it was anything amazing, but it was one of those shows I'll always remember.

I was gonna be all here and post about how in the forum you moderate, in the MLB.tv threads there is a whole thing about setting up proxies in Firefox but that whole thing is gone from the OP for this year.

So uh, yeah, I guess I'm an rear end in a top hat.

On the drop down menus, choose yes for SSL and Anonymous + Elite under type. Look for 100% uptime and ports 80, 808, and 8080 work the best. And I use the Proxy Switchy extension for Chrome, which is really easy and fast to use.

I use the FoxyProxy Firefox addon.
