Just ordered a copy of the third book. I hope he's able to get the second reprinted at some point, because now I'm going to have the first and third but not the second.

I played Okami once. As that ends the extent of my knowledge of east Asian moon mythology I am looking forward to the rest of this story.

Was looking on Amazon at the third volume and it says that the None Edition is coming out in Sept. Is that by a different publisher? http://www.amazon.com/Gunnerkrigg-Court-Vol-3-Reason/dp/1936393239/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1313426657&sr=8-2

Sept. 13 date was the original release date and just hasn't been updated to reflect that it's actually out now.

I don't know what 'The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter' is, so either way this is all new and exciting to me.

Girls and rabbits and moons are a pretty common theme in mythology for some reason. Chang'e (Chinese) The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (Japanese) Jade Rabbit (Asia, and apparently also Mexican and Native American) Tecciztecatl (Aztec) Kaltes-Ekwa (Ugric)

It's because of the obvious parallel between the moon and menstruation. Also you can see a rabbit in the moon. (The latter bit as explained in your third link?)

I think you are confused. A coyote is a four-legged mammal of the canine family. That is a bird. (Seriously, good job though.)

I finally got around to ordering some Gunnerkrigg books after binging through the archives a couple weeks ago. Vols. 1 and 3 are on their way to me. Here's hoping Vol.2 sees a return to print soon.

Not trying to be an rear end in a top hat, but: did you make a pun, or did you mean "nip it in the bud"? Because I think butt nipping would be pretty inappropriate at a time like this! Paz is confused enough I think!

Maybe it's a Midwestern US thing.

Regardless, in the context of the comic, there should be zero Bud-nipping. If anything, that little guy should go about, un-nipped.

Surely if there's any nipping to be done, Bud's going to be the one doing it. He's pretty much built for it.
