Amazon's Video Game Deal of the Day is a shitton of Atlus games (and a couple NIS games I guess) today including Radiant Historia, Demon's Souls, Persona 3 and 4 . . . (Lots of games I already bought of course. ) Go check it out if there're any Atlus-shaped holes in your gaming collection.

It just doesn't have a release date yet. I can't remember exactly but I think they said that the second game either had 2 times or 4 times the amount of text the first game did so the translation is taking a lot longer. 2-4 times more? But the first game was already a huge task to translate. I think it's gonna be quite a wait.

I don't know about Nier but Bayonetta is supposed to be MUCH better on the 360. The PS3 version has crappy load times and other problems that aren't exactly game-breaking but kind of suck anyway so if you have the choice, go with the 360 version. As far as the game itself, I'm not really even into DMC and other poo poo like that and I thought it was really fun. I thought it looked stupid too at first but the demo sold me totally. And yeah, there's stupid fan service but it's mostly just over-the-top and silly rather than gross, at least based on what I saw (didn't quite beat it). I haven't played Nier but it has some serious goon approval.

Nothing wrong with that, it's good that you have a life. I've just been buying fewer games and selling the ones in my backlog that I know deep down I won't ever get around to. Monster w21 Faces posted:To give further info I'm knocking around a few ideas for an rpg that will make use of the connectivity between handheld gaming platforms (PSVita, 3DS, WiiU) and their parent consoles to employ the more traditional adventurers/dungeon master dynamic. I've played a few games where the character's class didn't fit neatly into the warrior/mage/healer/thief mold and it was awesome. Nothing wrong with the classics but unless you have a really creative way to use them it might be more worthwhile to try something new to make your game stand out. I guess the main example I can think of is the Etrian Odyssey series. The traditional tank, warrior, etc. are usually there but the rest of the classes are often a bit hard to define. I still haven't entirely figured out the "Ninja" class in EO3. But even in those games you can generally loosely classify each class as "damage-dealer" or "support (healing, buffs, debuffs)."

Black and White just came out and are probably the best but there are also the Gold and Silver remakes and the last gen of Pokemon games, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Seconding the Dragon Quest remakes. Everyone seems to like V the best so I'd start with that one. OK, speaking of Nier, does anyone know if there are any differences between the 360 and PS3 versions? Better that then paying $60 every two weeks for the latest 8-hour-long cinematic cover shooter. For me the bigger problem is that playing RPGs keeps me accustomed to dated graphics and design. Aren't bullet hell types of games normally played with a joystick anyway? I don't see why people think the PSP version would be so weird. For me the main knock against the DS version is that it's now rare and kind of expensive whereas the PSP version is very cheap and relatively easy to find. Atlus games with distribution problems, imagine that.

Got this from Atlus today: Any preorder bonus is better than nothing at all but I'm a little sick of the gimpy mini-soundtracks, especially because this one looks like it's going to take up a whole jewel case and an extra box. I don't know if anyone here plays these games but I've read a couple of reviews of Atelier Totori and they generally seem to say that Totori is like Rorona but better in just about every way. I had Rorona and liked it but didn't get too far because the schedule seemed a little too tight for all the tasks you had to complete and it just made it not as fun. Is this any better in Totori? Assuming any/all of that is fixed, am I going to miss out on a lot in Totori story-wise if I didn't finish Rorona?

I just wonder if the interactions with the characters will be really loaded with references to the first game (in-jokes, relationships I don't understand, etc.) that I won't catch. Oh well, I'm probably just going to jump into Totori anyway as it sounds like a better game overall.

My experience was similar to HondaCivet's; I really liked the game but I was constantly freaking out about one deadline or another. Maybe I was just bad at the game but I'm hoping Totori is a little more loose regarding time management. If I'm reading the reviews correctly it sounds like the game basically has no deadlines, or they're incredibly long, so you can kind of just do stuff in any order and however you'd like to do it. One reviewer complained that this made it hard to know what to do next sometimes, but overall it sounds like a huge improvement to me. And yeah, I didn't really understand how everyone called Rorona relaxing.
