Sorry I can't help too much, but I had no issues with Samsung drivers on 64bit Vista. Odin is pretty essential to get working, it will let you easily reflash stock or new modems or ROMs or fix a soft bricked device.

I made a full backup of the stock ROM before I loaded CM7 but I figure I should grab a stock copy just in case if I ever need to resell the phone. Looked around a bit and wasn't sure if I was looking at the right RUU versions. The radio # is 2.15.00.07.28 according to HBOOT.

I'm trying to root my Incredible. One of the first steps is to boot into the HBOOT menu by turning the phone off, then holding volume down and power. This doesn't give me the menu, it simply turns the phone on. Any idea? edit: Needed to turn off fast boot. Now I can't find "USB PLUG" in the menu. Since I do see the "HBOOT USB PLUG" thing highlight at the top, I decided to press on, and went to the Device Manager. I don't see an Other menu with Android 1.0 device, but I do see and "Android Phone" with "Android ADB device" that shows up when I use root. I used this to install the driver, and it seems to work, and now is displayed as "android bootloader interface". When I turned off the phone and booted it normally, Windows reverted to showing "ADB device". I'm wondering if this was even necessary: When I run Unrevoked, it does the same thing as it did before: It said "running root" before messing with the boot drivers. And I do have root again and was able to use Font Installer to reinstall Roboto. Thanks for all the help! Dominoes posted:I'm trying to root my Incredible. That sounds like the Incredible already has Gingerbread installed. As far as I know, Incredibles that had not already been rooted but are running 2.3.4 can't be rooted unless they're reset to Froyo. But, obviously, I am not the best person to ask!

My co-worker has done something unbelievable. As in, I was looking at him with my jaw agape that he managed to do it. Here's the timeline: -I get into work. I see him in the hall and he asks me if I have an Android phone and know about rooting. He tells me he messed up his Incredible 2 and I say I'll look at it -He comes in and keeps talking about his Incredible 2. He takes it out and it's an Incredible 1. -He tells me that he had been "rotating between ROMs." He wiped and was trying to flash, but neither ZIP would install, and his backup wasn't working either. So he had a ClockworkMod Phone. -After fiddling with it, I notice that one of the files has "inc2" in it, so I realize the guy loving put Incredible 2 ROMs on his SD card and didn't back up properly Is there any other solution here besides "Get an Incredible ROM onto the micro SD card somehow?"

Is there any way to make it so that you can send any kind of file you want over Bluetooth? It appears that I can only send image files over bluetooth or I can rename a file to an image file extension and that will let me send it too. But I'd like to be able to send .apk and .zip files too. I'm running CM7 on a Samsung Captivate BTW.

I am so sick of the Android development scene. They assume every single person knows exactly what they are talking about so there are barely any instructions. I have a Droid 2 Global with gingerbread, installed the Rom Manager and tried installing a new gingerbread rom. The stupid loving thing reboots normally every single time, even though I have flashed Clockwork (apparently Droid X (2-Init) is the correct version). I then installed the bootstrapper which is not working as well. What am I supposed to do?

However, all of the posts that I've found are months old. Am I screwed? Where should I be watching for updates on the situation if anything improves? Just so you know, I'm in the same boat (stock Incredible with 2.3.4), and just successfully rooted my phone and got it to S-OFF with this procedure: http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/427344-2-3-4-root-downgrade-s-off.html It's pretty drat complicated and took a little trial and error on my part, but my phone is happily S-OFF and running CyanogenMod right now. Just upgraded from an original droid to a Razr so I'm having to deal with carrier bloatware for the first time and it's a lot worse than I was expecting. Is there a goon recommended app for "freezing" some of these apps and will the phone crap out if I do? Not too concerned about freezing or removing most of the standalone stuff on here but there's a few that I'm worried the phone needs. -Task Manager -Backup Assistant+ -Contacts Sync -Motorola Services -Sync Service -Social Networking

I asked in the regular thread but should probably ask here. Renewing my ATT contract soon. I have a rooted G1. Should I pick up the regular SGS2 for the better rom support even though I really liked my co-workers SGS2 Skyrocket? The HTC vivid also looks cool, but they haven't even rooted the drat thing. I just want to be able to flash on an aftermarket rom that improves user experience just like I've done with my G1.
