You can temporarily disable driver-signing on 64-bit Windows 7 if you can't get it working on XP.

Just use the instructions at the very top of the post:

I used the HBOOT drivers from unrevoked for mine (not sure if these will work on a Samsung device):

Sorry I can't help too much, but I had no issues with Samsung drivers on 64bit Vista. Odin is pretty essential to get working, it will let you easily reflash stock or new modems or ROMs or fix a soft bricked device.

Also, does anyone have a link for a stock RUU for a Droid Incredible (I)? I made a full backup of the stock ROM before I loaded CM7 but I figure I should grab a stock copy just in case if I ever need to resell the phone. Looked around a bit and wasn't sure if I was looking at the right RUU versions. The radio # is 2.15.00.07.28 according to HBOOT.

Doesn't matter. If you have a gold card, any ruu will wipe and give you the rom, radio and hboot version contained within.

I'm trying to root my Incredible. One of the first steps is to boot into the HBOOT menu by turning the phone off, then holding volume down and power. This doesn't give me the menu, it simply turns the phone on. Any idea?
edit: Needed to turn off fast boot. Now I can't find "USB PLUG" in the menu.

Since I do see the "HBOOT USB PLUG" thing highlight at the top, I decided to press on, and went to the Device Manager. I don't see an Other menu with Android 1.0 device, but I do see and "Android Phone" with "Android ADB device" that shows up when I use root. I used this to install the driver, and it seems to work, and now is displayed as "android bootloader interface".

When I turned off the phone and booted it normally, Windows reverted to showing "ADB device". I'm wondering if this was even necessary: When I run Unrevoked, it does the same thing as it did before: It said "running root" before messing with the boot drivers.

And I do have root again and was able to use Font Installer to reinstall Roboto.

Thanks for all the help!

That sounds like the Incredible already has Gingerbread installed. As far as I know, Incredibles that had not already been rooted but are running 2.3.4 can't be rooted unless they're reset to Froyo. But, obviously, I am not the best person to ask!

My co-worker has done something unbelievable. As in, I was looking at him with my jaw agape that he managed to do it.

Here's the timeline:

-I get into work. I see him in the hall and he asks me if I have an Android phone and know about rooting. He tells me he messed up his Incredible 2 and I say I'll look at it

-He comes in and keeps talking about his Incredible 2. He takes it out and it's an Incredible 1.

-He tells me that he had been "rotating between ROMs." He wiped and was trying to flash, but neither ZIP would install, and his backup wasn't working either. So he had a ClockworkMod Phone.

-After fiddling with it, I notice that one of the files has "inc2" in it, so I realize the guy loving put Incredible 2 ROMs on his SD card and didn't back up properly

Is there any other solution here besides "Get an Incredible ROM onto the micro SD card somehow?"

Is there any way to make it so that you can send any kind of file you want over Bluetooth? It appears that I can only send image files over bluetooth or I can rename a file to an image file extension and that will let me send it too. But I'd like to be able to send .apk and .zip files too.

Despite the aesthetics, the apple Bluetooth keyboard is no different from any other when it comes to how it works. And as android supports Bluetooth keyboards, it'll be fine.

That's funny because I tried Launcher Pro on my Nook Color and hated it... much preferred A-something or E-something... I forget the name of it, but it was a pretty flexible launcher and wasn't locked into formatting like Launcher Pro.

I honestly would love to end up with some sort of badass custom setup that looks crazy, but I don't have the time (physician ) or technical skills (for editing graphics) to get it done.

I am so sick of the Android development scene. They assume every single person knows exactly what they are talking about so there are barely any instructions.

I have a Droid 2 Global with gingerbread, installed the Rom Manager and tried installing a new gingerbread rom. The stupid loving thing reboots normally every single time, even though I have flashed Clockwork (apparently Droid X (2-Init) is the correct version). I then installed the bootstrapper which is not working as well.

What am I supposed to do?

So I'm on an HTC Thunderbolt and I rooted to a Froyo build of BAMF well over 6 months ago when the TBolt first came out, haven't really changed it since.

Any other TBolt users have any suggestions on good ROMs for it now? I know CM7 is finally on it, might give that a try, but then I've also heard that there's a bunch of nice gingerbread ROMs... what do you guys all use? I poked around on XDA and it's a complete mess in terms of being able to compare builds and find the one that's got the main things I want.

Main things I need:

  • Notifications pulldown having the toggles easily accessible for things like GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi, etc.
  • A battery meter that shows me an exact percentage up top and ideally color-codes the bar based on percentage left, so under 30% is red, under 50 is yellow, something like that.
  • A clock/alarm/weather setup that's comparable to the original Sense setup on the Froyo build... I guess Sense 2.1 or better? Whatever, I just want a nice clock on the face.
  • At least 5 pages for my homescreen, with the ability to hit Home to get a tiled view and jump directly to a screen if I don't want to swipe across them.
  • A working camera... don't care so much about the front-facing vanity cam, mainly the back one.
  • A non-red/yellow/purple theme to it... ideally something blue or greenish.
  • Something that my current build doesn't have, but would be sick as gently caress... going back to the first bullet, a quick toggle like that to toggle 4G on and off so I don't have to constantly use LTE On/Off.

Anyone got a ROM that can swing all that?

http://teambamf.net/showthread.php/...Bolt-2.11.605.5

I'm pretty sure Skyraider Zeus offers everything you're looking for. It's based on the latest Gingerbread build for the Thunderbolt. It's a Sense 2.1/3.0 hybrid. It DOES have a 4G toggle that can be a widget or in the quick settings area of the pulldown. I use it on my Thunderbolt and I like it a lot.
