I know I've seen this question addressed, but I don't think I've seen a proper solution. There's a few milliseconds of lag between my stock RB2 drums and what plays on screen during fills, and the same thing happens with vocals. I've got a pretty new Samsung TV, playing on PS3 hooked up with HDMI, and Game Mode is on. This is driving me absolutely insane, as the lag causes vocals and fills to sound absolutely terrible.

Can I do anything about this or am I completely boned?

No, you can't do anything about lag during fills. During the song, it plays each note slightly ahead-of-time in order to compensate for lag, but it can't do that during fills because it doesn't know what you're going to play before you play it.

Vocals: Pretty much the same thing.

Shazbot!

If you have a stereo/surround sound setup for your TV, try routing the audio directly into the receiver. I tried this and it -greatly- reduced the audio lag versus HDMI through the TV speakers.

I turned off drum fills and haven't found myself missing them since. As a bonus, if you don't notice the green lead-in you feel like a total badass for nailing a section before you ultimately realize it was a fill anyway. You'll never know if you really hit it or not, but you can tell yourself that you probably got it. Yeah... I was really into it.

I learned this when I decided that it would be fun to try freestyle playing after playing the game for quite a while, then the lag made it impossible for me to keep a beat.

Beatles Bundle, the Rickenbacher that's on sale with Amazon right now, RB3 keyboard bundle, cymbals expansion. That would probably be your best, cheapest way to get everything you need.

Is the premium bundle worth the extra 30 bucks over the normal bundle? Looks like it just comes with the special Hofner Bass.

Definitely get the premium bundle unless you want lovely RB1 instruments. I know I was beaten, but it can't be said enough. Do NOT get the normal/value bundle.

As someone else mentioned, that can actually make the lag worse, but I don't want to dissuade you from getting a kickass sound system...

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the last two albums. I'll give it another shot though.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the masters for anything pre Love Metal are all hosed up or owned by Bam Margera sadly.

I also would love to see "Right Here in my Arms" or "Heartache Every Moment" or "Pretending" I'm holding out hope for more DLC since they had an on-disc song in RB3.

I generally agree that the album before Screamworks was a festering heap of poo poo, but I REALLY like Screamworks a lot, "Ode To Solitude" is the worst song on it in my opinon though.

EA's uninterested in any big acquisitions, including Harmonix...

quote:

Rock Band For Sale

If that opportunity isn’t yet reflected in Electronic Arts’ stock price, then the company has to produce more results to convince investors, Riccitiello said.

“There is going to be a time when perception catches up with the facts,” he said.

While buying the Rock Band music video game franchise could make “theoretical” sense, it’s not the strategic direction his company is moving in, he said

“We’re still out of favor,” he said. “Moves that look like I’m doubling down on yesterday would make it harder still to convince investors that tomorrow is the Promised Land.”

Electronic Arts distributes Rock Band, which is made by Viacom Inc.’s Harmonix studio. Viacom said earlier this month that it plans to sell the unprofitable unit.

“I’m sure some smart investor will buy the business feeling that they can catch a falling knife,” he said, “but more people have been cut trying to catch falling knives than have benefitted from getting the timing exactly right.”

I thought my guitar was bad because I wasn't doing well on guitar. Yet last night I steamrolled through a whole bunch of bass songs (Gold Star'd like 80% of them and FC'd Plush... not that it's a hard song or anything) So basically I think I am retiring as a guitarist.

What the gently caress did I do? Why is this info not anywhere? I just got it because people said the bass that comes with the premium bundle has an awkwardly long fret board and the drums were the same with fancy decoration.

Does RB3 even have a bundle? The only thing I found was the keyboard and that's only a bundle on Wii and 360.

No RB3 bundles everything was ala carte, and they don't say anything about the value bundle because if people knew they came with insturments that are missing features no one would buy it. It's sole purpose for creation was a cheap way to get instruments to play Beatles:RB.

You should return it, those instruments are absolute poo poo and you can't even play Pro Drums.

I'm just going to get the ION Pro kit if it ever comes out. I'm getting the Mustang Pro controller soon and I already have the keyboard. Really the only reason I wanted it was to get into it while the pro stuff becomes available - and for others who just want to have fun can play. Maybe that's why my drums lag worse than my keyboard.

Besides, it's already opened and put together and used for a week. I'm not sure Amazon would accept the return, I will try though.

Wait, are harmonix not making any money? I thought Rock band was the king of the plastic guitar games?

Also, is there a rank above "Rock Legend"? I keep on getting fans for completing goals and there are some goals in the guitar menu that say they're locked until i get a higher rank, but the little bar next to my band's name has stopped going up.

Picked up a regular RB3 guitar and the 3 cymbal addon this past weekend. Guitar ODs whenever it feels like it and two of the three cymbals love to double hit even after the penny mod. I can only imagine how much more fun pro drums would be if I could gain overdrive.

It's still going up, just very slowly. You have to get all the goals in the game to get the next rank.

And no, Harmonix haven't been making money for a while now, at least not with on disc games.

I've been wondering this since RB1, but has there ever been a Pink Floyd song? I've looked through all the DLC lists and track lists for every track-pack for the previous two games and I figured that with the addition of a keyboard they would finally cave and put Time or something out. Am I still gonna be shafted?

Same can be said for Supertramp, are these guys just getting no love? Or do they really not want their songs being used for such a purpose?

There's never been a Pink Floyd song in any sort of rhythm game and I doubt that's going to happen.

Supertramp has had a couple of their songs in various karaoke games though so I wouldn't be surprised if we see them in Rock Band at some point.
